BBC Worldwide today announced its summer season of programming at its Summer Upfront event held in Johannesburg. Exclusive to DStv viewers in South Africa, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies, BBC Earth, BBC First and BBC Brit will be showcasing premieres of new and returning series such as the highly anticipated second series of The Great South African Bake Off and the return of pre-school animation favourite Go Jetters.
To help launch the exciting new season of content was British comedian and world renowned actor Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars, Goodness Gracious Me). Sanjeev stars in the BBC First series Unforgotten, which will return to South African screens next year. Also in attendance was award-winning Natural History producer Chadden Hunter to help promote the forthcoming out of this world documentary series, Planet Earth II.

BBC Brit
Coming soon to BBC Brit, fans of Top Gear will enjoy Motorheads, a hilarious new car show for the internet age. In an entertaining mash-up of motoring and pop culture, car-mad hosts Tom Ford and Jonny Smith (of Mud, Sweat & Gears fame) scour the web for the funniest, most madcap and nail-biting motoring videos that the online world has to offer.
BBC Earth
A decade ago, Planet Earth redefined natural history filmmaking, giving us the ultimate portrait of life on Earth. In February 2017, BBC Earth will premiere Planet Earth II, where significant advances in both filming technology and our understanding of the natural world, once again reveal our planet from a completely new perspective.
BBC First
Based on Gerald Durrell’s much-loved Corfu trilogy of novels, The Durrells will exclusively premiere on BBC First this Summer. It’s a warm, funny, feel-good series about a family’s adventures on a gorgeous Greek island when they uproot from their English home in the hope of a better life.
New and exclusive to BBC First, The Collection is a tale of secrets, lies and high fashion from writer, creator and award-winning showrunner Oliver Goldstick (Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty).
BBC Lifestyle
It’s the moment every cake, bread and pie lover has been waiting for, the return of The Great South African Bake Off. Starting on Tuesday 18th October at 20:00 exclusively on BBC Lifestyle, the series is back for another exciting and entertaining nationwide search to find and crown South Africa’s best amateur baker.
CBeebies
Jetting back to CBeebies every day from Monday 10th October at 17:50, is colourful animation series Go Jetters. A series packed with comedy, teamwork, thrilling action, great gadgets, awesome sights and funky facts about brand new places.
