Rubi: The Shortest Telenovela To Date Makes Its Much Anticipated Debut On TLNovelas Africa

TLNovelas, a Mexican entertainment channel owned by TelevisaUnivision featuring content from Las Estrellas and which unlike rival Telemundo has been lagging behind with the latest content is set to one of the shortest programs to date titled Rubí.

Based on the 2004 Mexican telenovela of the same name, the story revolves around a young journalist named Carla who convinces the titular character, a mysterious woman who lives in a dark mansion, to tell the story of her life and why she isolated herself from the outside world out of free will.

New Series Alert: eMedia Investments Acquired Broadcasting Rights To Turkish Romcom, Aşk Mantık İntikam

The series premiered first in the United States on 21 January 2020 on Univision, and ended on 27 February 2020 with a total of 26 episodes. It stars Camila Sodi as the title character alongside other stars like Jose Ron, Rodrigo Guirao and Kimberley Dos Ramos.

Originally, the series was meant to be serve as a reboot but instead they writers opted for a sequel which will not only address those aspects known to the public, but will explore what happened to the character years after.

The series received both positive and negative reviews from the audience. Sodi's performance was compared to that of Bárbara Mori's from the 2004 adaptation. Luckily, the series managed to obtain good ratings during its run on Univision.

Rubi is set to air daily at 19:05 from April 3rd.
