The series follows wildlife biologist and conservationist Forrest Galante as he travels the globe investigating strange sightings, legendary creatures and mysterious encounters between humans and wildlife. From the forests of the Pacific Northwest to the coastlines of Mozambique, each episode blends science and folklore while tackling real-world issues of human-animal conflict.
Highlights include the premiere episode ‘Croc Witchcraft’, set along the mighty Zambezi River, where Forrest investigates a series of crocodile attacks in a fishing community, confronting dangerous myths as well as very real threats. In episode 5, ‘It Comes in the Night’, he travels to Mozambique to track down a bull elephant destroying villages, a case that highlights the delicate balance between human safety and wildlife conservation in a region where elephants are central to culture, livelihoods and the ecosystem.
Beyond Africa, the series also takes viewers to South America in search of giant anacondas and to the forests of North America to explore the enduring Bigfoot legend. In every case, Forrest and his team work to uncover the facts, dispel myths and, wherever possible, protect both people and animals.
Born in California but raised in Zimbabwe, Galante’s deep connection to nature has shaped his adventurous career. Today, he brings his unique perspective as a conservationist, outdoor adventurer and storyteller to this gripping Discovery Channel series.
Tune in to Discovery Channel Africa (DStv channel 121) on Saturday, 4 October at 21:00 CAT to uncover the truth behind the myths in Mysterious Creatures with Forrest Galante.
