LicenceCo: The New Owners Of M-Net, SuperSport And DStv In South Africa

In a move that is set to shakeup the television landscape, DStv in South Africa will be spun off away from Canal+'s MultiChoice grasp to comply with local regulators' 20% cap toward foreign ownership. As alleged from previous years, MultiChoice will be surrending it's pay-tv company to the French. With Canal+ that will exist as a minority will entrust the future of DStv in South Africa to LicenceCo as MultiChoice retains Showmax alongside various other assets like SuperSportBET, Irdeto and Namola. LicenceCo (working title) is a new company that comprises of MultiChoice's Phuthuma Nathi scheme alongside black based companies Identity Partners Itai Consortium from Sonja De Bruyn, Afrifund Investments from Sipho Maseko and Worker's Trust. They'll be responsible for the livelihoods of SABC News, eNCA and Newzroom Afrika. New Series Alert: Umakoti Oyintandokazi Coming This Month To Zee Zonke

Zee Zonke is a Zulu dubbed entertainment channel operated by Zee Entertainment Enterprises which is home to various Bollywood series from Zee Studios. Launching on DStv in August 2023, it serves as the popular addition to consumers. Not long ago, it was reported that Zee World a sister channel to Zee Zonke alongside Zee One would be debuting new content in the month. Now, Zee Zonke will be welcoming its first ever new series from Zee Telegu titled Umakoti Oyintandokazi (No.1 Kodalu). The story revolves between two women, Vagdhevi and Saraswathi. Vagdhevi is a business entrepreneur, who is looking for an educated girl for her son Rahul. Saraswathi is an illiterate woman with a kind and good heart. After a series of consequences, Rahul marries Sarasu. It starred Madhumitha H as Saraswath, Jai Dhanush as Rahul, Sudha Chandran as Vagdhevi, Anshu Reddy as Preethi, Suresh as Arun Babu and Kranthi as Teja. Updated 19 July: tvN Is Working On Becoming A Permanent Channel Following It's Closure On DStv

tvN is the third pop-up channel to exit DStv following ZooMoo and Timeless Dizi Channel's exit back in June and March respectively with TLNovelas scheduled to close in August where a new program will be allocated. tvN has put up a channel termination on the EPG informing viewers that channel will stop airing by the end of July and thanking viewers for their support. This came after the channel was extended for a month . Even though the channel will stop airing on DStv. CJ ENM has expressed interest in bringing back it full-time with the brand unveiling a batch of programs they had hoped to show viewers but that's not happening or at least not on DStv. Could it be possible that StarTimes (StarSat) will pick it up? MultiChoice has host several pop-ups that are permanent on StarTimes such as WarnerMedia's Toonami, Televisa's TLNovelas and SPI International's Dizi with Blue Ant Media's ZooMoo being a permanent fixture on Zuku TV.
