Paramount+ Greenlights Mo Willems’ ‘The Elephant & Piggie Show’ and ‘The Pigeon Show!’

Paramount+ is getting into the Mo Willems’ animated animal business in a big way. The streamer announced today that it has greenlit two animated series, The Elephant & Piggie Show! and The Pigeon Show! Starring the Pigeon, based on the best-selling children’s author and illustrator’s books. This is the first time Paramount+ is collaborating with the author’s Hidden Pigeon production company.

“Mo Willems has delighted kids and ‘former kids’ around the world with these beloved characters,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+. “Whether it’s Elephant and Piggie navigating the hard work of ‘best-friending’ or The Pigeon confusing wants and needs (a hot dog! a cookie! to drive the bus!), these characters remind us that the best stories are the ones that make us laugh and feel something real. We’re thrilled to bring them to life on Paramount+.”

“We are so excited to be partnering with Paramount+ to further expand the world of Mo Willems through these two new series,” said Karen K. Miller, CEO of Hidden Pigeon Company. “We can’t wait to present more of the characters and stories that kids everywhere already know and love in ways that will surprise and delight them at every turn.”

The Elephant & Piggie Show! is described as a warm, comedic pre-K series about the hilarious and sometimes challenging work of “best-friending.” The series takes place in the small, walkable neighborhood of Willemsburg, which is full of new locations audiences will love. Elephant Gerald is careful; his best friend Piggie is not. Gerald worries so that Piggie does not have to and together, along with young audiences, they will celebrate the messy and joyful art of friendship.

The Pigeon Show! Starring the Pigeon animates the day-to-day struggles of a pigeon who just wants to be listened to. He will be your best friend if you have a bus and you let him drive it. The series features familiar characters from Willems’ books, such as the adorable Duckling who always seems to get what she wants, plus new characters, like The Pigeon’s 150-million-year-old pterodactyl grandmother, Nana-Dactyl, and his best wing-pals, Ima Pigeon and Doug Pigeon.

Willems is a #1 New York Times best-selling author and illustrator who has received the Caldecott Honor on three occasions (for Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity). His popular Elephant & Piggie early reader series has been awarded two Theodor Seuss Geisel Medals (for There Is a Bird on Your Head! and Are You Ready to Play Outside?) and five Geisel Honors (for We Are in a Book!, I Broke My Trunk!, Let’s Go for a Drive!, A Big Guy Took My Ball!, and Waiting Is Not Easy!). Mo began his career as a writer on Sesame Street, where he received six Emmy Awards.,

'Max & The Midknights' Renewed For Season Three; To Premiere On Nickelodeon Global On December 3

Based on the best-selling children's books by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate), the medieval action-adventure comedy series follows Max, a determined 10-year-old girl with big dreams of becoming a knight, as she leads her friends on epic adventures filled with excitement, bravery, and lots of fun. In season three, Max and the Midknights embark on a quest to help a neighboring kingdom of gnomes and discover that their own kingdom could be in danger.

Max & the Midknights will premiere on the Nickelodeon Global pan-regional feed on Wednesday 3rd December 2025.

A Restless Knight, Part One: After a raucous season one, Max & the Midknights are back and ready for action! There's just one problem-Byjovia is quiet! Too quiet... (#301; season three premiere)*

*Season one of Max & the Midknights was split into two seasons, so "season one" in the episode's synopsis means both seasons one and two.

After defeating Fendra and Gastley, Max & The Midknights are living their best lives in Byjovia. Max is in training in knight school, Kevyn runs the royal library, Simon helps animals in need, Millie is in training with Mumblin, and Uncle Budrick is the royal troubadour. Although things seem perfect, Max is itching to go on another quest. When a wild beast known as a Clatterback shows up in Byjovia and threatens to do major damage, Max saves the day, making it even more apparent that she really wants to be out on the road helping people. Her desire for a new adventure is answered when Queen Nerelia of Tresk shows up begging for help.

A Restless Knight, Part Two: When the Gnomes of Tresk are kidnapped by a mysterious evil, Max & the Midknights volunteer to save them, but Max's plans for her second quest go awry when she learns not all the Midknights are as eager as she is to go on the mission. (#302)

When the Gnomes of Tresk are kidnapped by a mysterious evil, Max & the Midknights volunteer to save them. Max is thrilled to go on a new quest, but her plans go awry when she learns that Simon doesn't want to go. Having just settled into Byjovia with his new family, Simon would rather stay home. Despite feeling sad, the Midknights tell him that they understand how he feels. Sadly, Mumblin must also sit out the journey after an accidental tumble down the library steps leaves him in a full body cast. The Midknights set sail down two members. The morning they leave though, Simon has a change of heart. With the help of his animal patients, Simon rushes to the docks to try and catch the Midknights before they sail away from Byjovia. As Simon nears the ship, he and the Midknights are confronted by the angry Clatterback. In the nick of time, Simon convinces the animal to let them go. Simon tells the Midknights that he has changed his mind. They are his family and he's going on this quest with them.

The Spirit of the Sea: As Max and the Midknights sail across the sea on their quest, they get spooked when Uncle Budrick claims there's a ghost on board their ship! Meanwhile, Mumblin fears someone is out to get him. (#303)

As the Midknights sail across the sea on their latest quest, Max realizes the gang might be a little rusty. Kevyn and Millie aren't seeing eye to eye, Simon is preoccupied helping his animal clients from long distance, and Uncle Budrick is terribly seasick! However, Max is certain she can get them working as a team. But when Uncle Budrick is spooked by something sinister in the shadows below deck, he is convinced he saw a ghost! Determined to get back on mission, Max leads the charge to search the ship and find whatever mysterious presence might be haunting them. They soon find there's no ghost at all-they've been spooked by a stowaway, the former King of Byjovia, Gastley! But as the Midknights are distracted, the ship veers off course and into a powerful storm! They quickly realize they must act as a team in order to steady the ship before it capsizes! Meanwhile, back in Byjovia, Mumblin fears someone might be behind his recent spate of accidents, and takes matters into his own hands...

The Trial of Mumblin the Magician: After being blown off course, the Midknights navigate a set of treacherous waterfalls as they try to reach the Gnomes of Tresk. Meanwhile, Mumblin pleads for his freedom in Wizard Court where the odds are stacked against him. (#304)

When the Midknights' ship is set off course, the team must survive treacherous new waters. Before Max can enact her plan, she is summoned to Wizard Court where Mumblin is on trial for his life. Max must help Mumblin prove that he is a good wizard and that he escaped the afterlife to help the Midknights defeat Fendra. If Max can't, Mumblin will be sent away for good. Max calls on the Midknights to testify on Mumblin's behalf. When those attempts fail, Max takes the stand. At first, Max's emotional testimony seems to win over the court, but her pleas for Mumblin's freedom backfire and Mumblin is ultimately found guilty. Luckily, Kevyn discovers a way to save Mumblin. Max must battle the Worms of Justice and if she wins, then Mumblin will be set free. Transported to a desert, Max battles giant worms. In the end, Max defeats the worms and Mumblin wins his trial. Unfortunately, the Midknights are sent back to their boat, which is headed straight for a massive waterfall!

The voice cast behind the Midknights, a group of misfits each with their own unique talent, include: Blu del Barrio (Star Trek: Discovery) as Max, a brave and determined girl ready to take on any challenge headed her way; Melissa VillaseƱor (Saturday Night Live) as Millie, a wacky yet super positive girl who brings the power of magic to the Midknights; Zeno Robinson (Transformers: EarthSpark) as Simon, Millie’s street-savvy and sometimes sarcastic companion; and Caleb Yen (Beyblade X) as Kevyn, the bookish genius with a photographic memory. Together, the group accomplishes nearly everything that they set their mind to achieve.

Alongside the Midknights, Jeremy Rowley (iCarly) lends his voice as Uncle Budrick, Max’s lovably silly parental figure and professional troubadour, Gary Anthony Williams (Central Park) voices Mumblin, a famous retired magician who helps guide the Midknights on their quests, Brian Stepanek (The Loud House) voices King Gastley, the nefarious ruler of Byjovia, willing to do whatever it takes to maintain his throne, and India de Beaufort (It’s Pony) voices Fendra, a dark sorceress working for King Gastley.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, Max & the Midknights is executive produced by Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate) and Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted). Sharon Flynn (All Hail King Julien) and David Skelly (Toy Story 2) serve as co-executive producers and showrunners. Development and production is overseen by Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President, TV Series Animation, Nickelodeon, Nathan Schram, Vice President, Development, Nickelodeon Animation, and Stephanie Alpert, Vice President, Production, Nickelodeon Animation. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

The channel is treating viewers to lots of new content this month, including the brand-new PAW Patrol special.

The month kicks off with Rubble & Crew – the channel will air the entire second half of Season 3, meaning that the next time we get new episodes, it will already be Season 4. By the way, the Christmas-themed episode from Season 2 that was skipped last year will finally air this December.

There will also be Christmas specials premiering from Blaze and the Monster Machines (two festive episodes from Season 8) and a previously unaired episode from PAW Patrol Season 11. The holiday season will also be brightened by the channel premiere of the movie Albert, but the real highlight is the PAW Patrol TV movie Christmas special. The second half of the month belongs to the brand-new Season 4 of Dora – and strangely enough, the channel is showing the entire season.

Paramount Cancels DORA And 2D-Animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles On Nickelodeon

The upcoming seasons of Nickelodeon's CG-animated DORA and 2D-animated Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be their last.

Season two of Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premieres on Paramount+ in December and will run on Nicktoons next year. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Point Grey Pictures, the series bridges the gap between Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures' blockbuster TMNT movie, Mutant Mayhem, and it's upcoming sequel, currently slated for release in 2027. The franchise is expected to continue with IDW's TMNT comics.

The debut of Dora‘s fourth season on the streamer was originally slated for the fourth quarter of this year, but is now TBD. It too will be followed by a linear window on Nick Jr. A fifth and final season of Dora also has been produced; its fate is unclear. A reimagining of Nickelodeon's iconic Latina heroine, the series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation, with the show's cancellation coming as the franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Paramount is actively exploring third-party licensing opportunities for both series, something the company has been doing consistently for a number of years, with a number of Nickelodeon titles available on Netflix, for example.

The cancellation decisions come on the heels of the post Paramount-Skydance merger restructuring. In it, all Paramount linear networks, including Nickelodeon, as well as the Nickelodeon Animation Studios, which produces the majority of the Nick animated shows, including Dora and Ninja Turtles, were consolidated into a TV Media division overseen by Chair George Cheeks.

In a memo last week announcing TV Media’s executive structure, Cheeks hinted at a slimming down the current roster of cable series.

“Our cable brands will focus on a more curated slate, optimizing programming and marketing resources to amplify what resonates most,” he said. “That means leaning into franchises like SpongeBob, PAW Patrol, RuPaul’s Drag Race, South Park, Ms. Pat and The Daily Show, while continuing to develop new IP across our studios and seeking new ways to amplify and connect with audiences.”

Not surprisingly, Nick’s flagship franchises, SpongeBob SquarePants and PAW Patrol, made the list of priority linear brands. Neither Dora nor Ninja Turtles did but both have a long history at the network and may be revisited in the future with new iterations.

The Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cancellation was first reported by The InSneider.

Sky New Zealand Launches Two New Channels To Replace Paramount's Offering And Cartoon Network

Sky New Zealand is launching two new self-branded channels to replace Paramount’s Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Comedy Central and Cartoon Network, which are ceasing transmission from early December.

The new offerings, Sky Comedy and Sky Kids, will carry programming from the expiring channels in addition to new shows from a range of studios and locally commissioned content.

“Kids and comedy programming are at the heart of Sky’s entertainment offering. By bringing these important channels ‘in-house’ we can choose and curate the content that we know our customers enjoy and engage with, combining Paramount fan favourites with content from other studios,” said Fiona Murray, Sky NZ’s head of entertainment.

Sky Comedy will feature Comedy Central content including the final season of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, South Park, The Daily Show and Beavis & Butt-Head, in addition to retro classics including Cheers, Reno 911!, Nathan For You and Key & Peele.

Sky Kids is being pitched as offering educational programming for preschoolers through to primary school-age children. Former Nickelodeon and Nick Jr content will be included alongside “a strong slate of local programming.”

The new outlet will complement the existing CBeebies channel, providing local content including Katie’s Kuri and The Last Moa, as well as multiple seasons of home-grown hits such as Kiri & Lou, The Drawing Show, Extreme Cake Sports and Secrets at Red Rocks.

Sky NZ said some content from the axed channels will continue to be available via on-demand on the new Sky Experience service across the Sky Box and Sky Pod platforms. Cartoon Network content will continue to be available on-demand through the HBO Max hub via the Sky Entertainment package.

The broadcaster has also partnered with Mood TV to bring two new local music channels to its channel line-up, Juice TV and J2, which effectively replace MTV Hits and MTV 80s. In line with the global shutdown of the MTV brand, the music channels will no longer be available via linear in New Zealand.

In October, it was announced that MTV linear channels would progressively shut down in the UK, Poland, France and Brazil. In Australia, the MTV brand has suffered a similar fate, with its channels having been shut down weeks ago by OTT provider Fetch TV. Paramount owned Australian channels MTV 80s, MTV 90s, MTV 00s, MTV Club and MTV Hits which were previously carried by Foxtel in a deal that was not renewed.

All changes to Sky NZ programming take effect from December 2.

Nickelodeon International Will Be Premiering Two Brand New Transformers: EarthSpark Season Four Specials In December 2025

In Part One, "Hometown Heroes", every victory has a cost, and now the Maltos must face those consequences. Robby's caught abusing his powers, but Mo and "Detective" Thrash team up to prove their brother's innocence. Meanwhile, Twitch becomes her own worst enemy...(S4 993)

Full synopsis: Over the years, the Maltos and the Autobots have vanquished foes and protected Earth from destruction, but some victories have come at a tragic cost... Now, some are painting the heroes as villains and the Maltos must face those consequences. Even though Robby's powers give him status amongst his peers and purpose in his community, when he's caught abusing his power, he's unwittingly proving his detractors right. Sensing something isn't right, Mo and "Detective" Thrash team up to prove their brother was set up. Meanwhile, Twitch obsesses over mistakes she's made in the past and she becomes her own worst enemy. Still, the Maltos and the Autobots rally to battle enemies who will stop at nothing to destroy them - and other worlds. Twitch fails her team when they need her the most, and Robby can't be there for his sister to lean on. Luckily, an old ally arrives in in time to help. In the end, the heroes unite and end the fight, but the Maltos may never be the same again. TO BE CONTINUED...

Then, in Part Two, "Legacy of Hope," the Maltos and the Autobots search Cybertron for their missing allies. Failure is not an option, so Thrash steps up to help his struggling sister lead this important mission. Meanwhile, Robby and Mo find a new friend, and Optimus finds an old enemy. (S4 992)

Long synopsis: Robby and Mo are alone and vulnerable on Cybertron. After they venture into the unknown to find what they've lost, the rest of the Maltos and the Autobots arrive to search for their missing family and friends. Failure is not an option, so Thrash steps up to help his struggling sister lead this important mission. Tension builds between the troubled Twitch and the ultra-confident Thrash - dividing the team when they need to be united. Meanwhile, Robby and Mo find a new friend, and Optimus finds an old enemy. A confrontation leaves the Maltos and the Autobots severely weakened and scattered all over Cybertron while their enemy gains incredible strength and power. Twitch loses herself, Robby hits rock bottom, and Optimus Prime believes his worst fears have come true. Each must face their greatest challenges alone, and each needs to succeed if they're to stand a chance at defeating the rising evil on Cybertron threatening to cast its shadow across the entire universe. Luckily, it is in darkness that hope shines brightest.

Channel Closure: Paramount Plans To Shut Down MTV, Nickelodeon And Four Other Pay-TV Channels In Brazil, Following The Skydance Merger

Paramount, which was acquired by Skydance Media in August of this year in a billion-dollar deal, will cease distributing its six linear channels in Brazil on pay TV or streaming. These are: MTV, MTV Live, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central, and Paramount.

According to sources from the report, the reason behind this decision involves a drop in advertising revenue, combined with a decrease in the number of pay TV subscribers. The sports broadcasting rights of the entertainment giant, which include events like the Libertadores, remain valid.

Additionally, the high costs associated with SeAC (Conditional Access Service) also played a role. Paramount's goal is to transform into a Big Tech company, hence the strategy of selling its content directly to the end consumer, without the need for an intermediary.

Paramount was acquired by Skydance

The restructuring of Paramount, which includes this and other significant changes, was promised as early as August 2025, when the company was acquired by Skydance Media in a $8 billion deal.

The group is led by David Ellison, who sent a message to the entertainment giant’s employees, signaling the start of a new management and announcing guidelines aimed at transforming the industry’s operations in the coming years.

At the time, one of the main changes announced was the unification of the Paramount+ and Pluto TV streaming platforms, which is expected to occur by 2026. With this, the company aims to make its experience more competitive to face rivals, such as Netflix.

Nickelodeon Acquires International Rights To CGI Animated Series, ‘The Marsupilamis'

Paramount’s Nickelodeon has acquired the rights to the CGI animated series The Marsupilamis, a fresh take on the beloved kids brand, for markets outside of the U.S.

“This fresh take on the iconic character, created over 70 years ago by Belgian author AndrĆ© Franquin, brings the legendary Marsupilami from the wild Palombian jungle into the heart of the city,” said Nickelodeon, which is part of Paramount, now owned by Skydance.

The 52 episodes of 11 minutes are produced by Ellipse Animation and Belvision.

“Slated to launch in 2026, the comedic, action-packed new series follows twins Jade and Mica who find their world turned upside down when their explorer parents entrust them with three mysterious Marsupilami eggs,” according to a plot description. “Once they hatch, the siblings must get creative to keep their new friends hidden – after all, no one knows these energetic creatures exist, and predators could be lurking around every corner.”

The series is directed by CƩlestine Jacquel-Plays (Grizzy and the Lemmings). Andrew Barnett Jones and Ciaran Murtagh (The Amazing World of Gumball) served as head writers, with Guilhem Deckers (Minions 2) being the artistic director.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Ellipse and to introduce The Marsupilamis to our Nickelodeon audiences,” said l Layla Lewis, senior vp, global acquisitions and content partnerships, at Nickelodeon. “This fresh take on a beloved character brings a vibrant mix of humor, heart, and adventure that makes it an excellent addition to our slate”

Caroline Duvochel, head of audiovisual & innovation at MĆ©dia-Participations and managing director of Ellipse Animation, added: “We are thrilled to finally present The Marsupilamis, with our best talents bringing a new take on the most iconic IP of our portfolio. An ambitious and unique branding strategy unites all entities within the MĆ©dia Participations group, placing The Marsupilamis at the forefront of our creative efforts. Collaborating with the top-tier Paramount team is a true delight, enhancing the global reach and impact of our beloved character.”

October 2025 On Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. And Nicktoons Across Europe And Africa | Returning Shows Including SpongeBob Squarepants & Rubble And Crew | Continue Premieres For The Wylde Pak | More

Nickelodeon

**Canyon Valley, Bikini Bottom, and Royal Woods. These three city names summarize all the premieres expected this month.**

At the start of the month, new episodes of the much-anticipated *The Wylde Pack* series, which debuted in the final days of September, are arriving. The new episodes will continue to air on weekday evenings. However, this batch includes an 11-minute Halloween-themed banned episode that was later removed from the schedule. Interestingly, it currently looks like we’ll be getting three episodes as world premieres, and due to different episode numbering compared to the U.S., a full 22-minute episode will temporarily be skipped in our broadcasts.

Still staying in early October: *The Loud House* continues with its ninth season on Nickelodeon. As usual, there are banned episodes that will later appear on Nicktoons and SkyShowtime. However, the channel has a surprise in store for fans of the series. Fans surely know that a certain episode from Season 6 has never aired here, even though the opportunity was there years ago—probably for a reason. But that might change this year: for Halloween, two (technically three) new episodes will debut. The more recent Halloween double episode from Season 8 will be prioritized and will also air on Nicktoons a few days after the main channel. And after a few days, there’s a chance that the long-missing Season 6 Halloween episode will also finally be shown on Nickelodeon—an episode which has been rerun several times on the sister channel over the years.

Since Halloween has come up, it’s time to mention the *Patrick Star Show*’s holiday episode, which is airing thanks to the spooky season. This is the final missing piece of Season 3, which will thus conclude in our region at the end of the month. Lastly, only *SpongeBob SquarePants* is lucky enough to get a mention in this article. The series last had new episodes in May, and now after five months, it’s time again. The final episodes of Season 15 will air starting mid-October, while the first episode of Season 16 is scheduled for the end of the month.

Halloween has already been mentioned multiple times, but let’s get into the details. This year, the channel is preparing a more elaborate event than usual—a whole week of spooky fun. Not non-stop, of course, but for most of the day, scary-themed episodes from favorite shows will take over the schedule. From October 27 to November 2, from morning to evening, selected episodes from the channel’s popular series will be shown, including the new Halloween premieres and their reruns. No old shows will return, just to answer that ahead of time.

And finally, a small editorial note: it's particularly noticeable with *The Wylde Pack* that episodes are scheduled irregularly, often airing out of order in rerun slots. This may change by the time of actual airing, but it's worth keeping this in mind until there’s an official update. In the proper premiere slots, the episodes will air in the correct order, so anyone following that block won’t miss a single episode.

Marathons

**October 27 – November 2, 2025**
Daily at various times: **Halloween Specials**
A week-long Halloween event with spooky episodes and premieres from popular shows. No classic series will return.

Nick Jr.

The preschool-focused channel is delivering excitement on several fronts. Where to begin? Let’s start with the last-minute update for the month: *Blaze and the Monster Machines* is being completely removed from the schedule—even though new episodes were originally planned for October. While other regional feeds still include the show, and our November schedule hasn’t yet been updated (meaning Blaze is still present there), viewers may have reason to worry that the network is planning to phase out the show entirely.

In place of *Blaze and the Monster Machines*, *Rubble & Crew* episodes will mostly take over the late-night time slot. As a result, the Season 3 premiere originally set for mid-month is currently being aired earlier in that overnight slot. However, as we’ve seen before, this could change at the last minute. These suspected early premieres are marked in **purple**, indicating they may be swapped out by the network just before airing.

Continuing from late September, the new show *Tim Rex in Space* will run throughout most of the month. In fact, right after the Season 1 finale, they’ll kick off Season 2 with at least one new episode.

Nick Jr. hasn't forgotten about Halloween either. They’ll celebrate for a full week, airing spooky-themed episodes across nearly all time slots throughout the day. Special premieres are also scheduled as part of this Halloween week. It kicks off with a **Season 3 episode of Dora**, and on **Halloween Day itself**, the finale of *The Tiny Chef Show* is expected to premiere—though curiously, it’s actually the **season opener**. However, we say “expected” because this could also be pulled at the last minute, just like Blaze’s planned Halloween episode.

Daily at various times: **Halloween Specials**
A full week of spooky-themed episodes from various shows, including premieres and reruns.

Nicktoons

Unfortunately, there will still be no flood of premieres on the channel, and it seems we’ll need to get used to these few premieres. Due to the late season start, part of *The Patrick Show* will extend into October, and there will also be a special Halloween episode this month. In the first few days of October, the current new episodes will finish airing, after which the Halloween marathon will bring spooky-themed episodes, including one from **Season 3** of *The Patrick Star Show*. Also part of this Halloween marathon will be *The Loud House* Halloween double episode, which will mark the end of the 13-episode **Season 8**. Ultimately, the little yellow sponge, **SpongeBob SquarePants**, will also make his return, which is expected to happen early in the month. Five months after its domestic premiere, *SpongeBob* will return with five new segments, after which the show will go on another break.

Australian Entertainment Platform Fetch TV Faces Another Shake-Up, With Paramount Set To Remove All Of Its Branded Pay TV Channels In The Region

Effective 1 November 2025, Fetch has informed subscribers that the Ultimate Pack will lose a number of channels, including Nick Jr, Nickelodeon, Nick Music, MTV, MTV Hits, Club MTV, MTV 80s, MTV 90s and MTV 00s.

In a note to users, Fetch explained:

“There will also be changes to the inclusions in the Premium Channel packs as Paramount have made the decision to remove their Pay TV channels from all platforms within Australia.”

The move comes despite both companies reaching “an agreement on a long-term extension of their channel partnership” earlier in 2024, which had secured existing channels and introduced MTV 90s and MTV 00s as part of an expanded deal.

Paramount has gradually wound back its local pay TV offerings over the past two years. MTV left rival Foxtel in August 2023, while Nickelodeon switched from Foxtel to free-to-air Channel 13 around the same time, replacing the similarly programmed 10 Shake channel.

More recently, Comedy Central departed Fetch at the end of March 2025, followed by Paramount’s music channels exiting Foxtel in June. The locally programmed CMT (Country Music Channel) was also confirmed to wind down in Australia from the end of July.

In the coming months, Paramount is looking to a round of layoffs or budget cuts following its acquisition by Skydance Media. This would affect the company's local operations in Africa leading to the potential closures of MTV Base and BET in the region.

In Europe, Paramount is halt several MTV channels including Club MTV, NickMusic, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, MTV 00s by 31 December 2025. Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nicktoons, MTV and Comedy Central are expected to remain in the region.

September 2025 On Nickelodeon, Nicktoons And Nick Jr. Across Europe And Africa | Channel Premiere: Wylde Park | Returning Shows Including Paw Patrol | More

Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon’s current last live-action series is returning to the screen with a new season, while the Loud family and Hazel are also getting into new adventures. At the end of the month, we will also welcome Jack and Lily's family to the channel.

On the first day of September, there will be a surprise premiere batch, as the Fairy OddParents: New Wish continues its single season. The next ten episodes will air daily in the early evening on the channel.

After Hazel and her fairies, Phoebe, Max, and Chloe will take over in the new episodes of The Thundermans: Undercover. The superhero trio returns with more struggles and sibling squabbles, which currently means the end of the first season of the series, followed immediately by the start of the second season. Paramount split the originally planned 26-episode first season in half, so the second season of The Thundermans: Undercover has already started. The new episodes will last for two weeks, but that will be more than enough because by the end of the month, two more shows will be on offer from Nick.

Let’s start with the continuation of The Loud House, which actually begins on the same day as the premiere of the new series. The originally 22-minute episodes will be split again, with an 11-minute segment airing every weekday. In this series, we are ahead of the Americans, and in fact, the ninth season is almost finishing here, while in the U.S., it hasn’t even started yet. The new series mentioned earlier, which is placed after The Loud House premieres, is called Wylde Pak. The series first aired in May on the Nicktoons YouTube channel, and in early June, it was broadcast on the American Nickelodeon.

"Jack and Lily are half-siblings who, thanks to their parents, form a mixed-identity family. We follow the adventurous life of this half-American, half-Korean family as they try to get along as best as possible while running a joint business."

Nick Jr.

A new era begins for Nick Jr. starting in September with a range of new shows in the lineup. Right at the beginning of the month, Dora Season 3 continues, although this time it will air at a different time than usual. Starting from the 1st, the premieres will air in the early evening instead of the usual morning slots. The second half of the season will be broadcast, but the Christmas episode is planned to air in a late-night slot.

In the second half of the month, new episodes of PAW Patrol will arrive. With this batch, Season 11 will be complete—except for a holiday special. Episodes of the series will air on weekday afternoons. And now, we can look forward to Season 12!

Finally, a brand-new series will debut at the end of September. *T-Rex Tim*, his younger brother *Tommy*, sister *Tia*, and their best friend, a triceratops named *Kai*, solve childhood problems with dinosaur-sized solutions in outer space! The show will launch with ten episodes at the end of September, so there will definitely be plenty to watch in October.

Nicktoons

After a long break, The Loud House returns to Nicktoons with new adventures.

The last time The Loud House was featured on Nicktoons was back in December 2024, when the eighth season premiered. Although it's one of Nickelodeon’s flagship titles, it seems that lately Nick has been neglecting—or worse, letting go of—this series, especially as the number of their shows continues to shrink. And calling it "neglect" isn't an exaggeration: even after all this time, American Nickelodeon is still behind compared to our local Nicktoons, which in September will finally catch up with the main domestic channel. However, one area where the U.S. always stays ahead is The Patrick Star Show, which began airing its fourth season back in March. Here, the season debuted in June, and now in September, Nicktoons will broadcast the first five episodes as well.

Could The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish Have Been Cancelled On Nickelodeon And Netflix?

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish is an American animated television series based on and serving as a revival/sequel to the Nickelodeon animated series The Fairly OddParents (2001–2006, 2008–2017), created by Butch Hartman. It is the third television series in the overall franchise, ignoring the events of The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder (2022).

Synopsis for The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish

In The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, ten-year-old Hazel Wells has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job. On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors…they’re Cosmo and Wanda, Fairy Godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true. As well as new characters, the series brings back many from the original series, including Vicky, Mr. Crocker, CJ, and Poof, who now goes by the name of Peri.

It featured the voices of Ashleigh Crystal Hairston (Tiny Toons Looniversity, Craig of the Creek) as the voice of Hazel Wells, joining The Fairly OddParents alums Daran Norris (The Loud House, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder) as the voice of Cosmo, and Susanne Blakeslee (The Loud House, Amphibia) as the voice of Wanda.

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish premiered in the United States with a sneak peek on May 17, 2024, and officially premiered on May 20. The first 10 episodes were released internationally on Netflix on November 14, 2024.

From what was understood last year, the show hadn't been greenlight for a second season with the first season that was meant to consist of 20 episodes. Depending on its performance on Nickelodeon and Netflix would factor into whether a second season would be commissioned.

From the looks of things, it looks like the show had been given the axe as the remaining 10 episodes of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish season 1 had now been listed as season 2. I know this can't be seen as official confirmation but look at how these broadcasters have commissioned each season of The Patrick Star Show and Dora.

Rather than saying whether The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish is getting a second season we should be saying whether a third and possibly fourth season are on the cards.

Reminder: Paramount Global Set To Close Several Channels, Including Nickelodeon And Nick Jr., On Sky TV In New Zealand

New Zealand television provider Sky TV is embarking on a major content shake-up with the pending loss of a number of entertainment channels, including those with specialist music and children’s programmes, The New Zealand Herald's Media Insider reports.

The overhaul has been sparked by the upcoming expiry of Sky’s existing programming deal with U.S. giant Paramount Media Networks, which owns channels such as Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., MTV 80s, MTV Hits, and Comedy Central. All five channels screen on Sky TV as “pass-through” channels.

One source said the channels would come off air this year, but it isn’t clear if that’s a decision being driven by Paramount or Sky itself, however, Paramount is in the midst of cutting operating costs, which has included layoffs and studio closures. Paramount is also said to be mulling closing channels in Europe, with channels such as Club MTV, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, MTV 00s, MTV Hits and MTV Live HD slated to be closing by the end of the year in certain territories, such as Slovakia. Comedy Central and Paramount Network are also slated to be closing down in Hungary in the near future, too.

Paramount has its own streaming service, Paramount+, waiting in the wings, although there are apparently still no plans to launch it in New Zealand. Paramount+ was scheduled to launch in New Zealand in August 2021, but it is understood that move was eclipsed when it renewed its content deal with Sky.

Perhaps wary of how customers might react, Sky has played a perplexing public relations strategy over the past week as it has tried to deflect inquiries about a change in its channels and content strategy.

When Media Insider initially approached the company with information from a source that Sky was about to lose several channels when a major international deal came to an end, a spokeswoman replied with a statement that said the company did not comment on “rumours”.

Within a few days, and following further questions, the company conceded it had undertaken a “significant review of our entertainment strategy”.

This planning had been “under way for many months, including our planning for Sky-curated channels in the place of some of our pass-through channels”.

Sky is painting the upcoming changes in a positive public relations light, saying it plans to retain music and children’s content on new Sky-curated channels. In its statements over the past week, it has been coy about the overhaul and refused initially to even name or confirm the channels impacted, or which programming deals are coming to an end.

Sky, which had a horror run with customers earlier this year over an ailing satellite and a heavily criticised customer communications response, initially said of the channel changes: “Our strategy focuses on investing in the content we know our customers value.

“We don’t comment on rumours, but we review content agreements regularly and if anything was to change in our content line-up, we would always communicate it openly to our customers.”

When Media Insider went back to Sky with more specific information from our source – and reiterated our information was based on more than “rumours” – the company came back with an updated response, confirming changes.

“We are in constant dialogue with our entertainment content providers about how best to serve customer needs,” Sky TV content and product strategy head Fiona Murray said in a statement.

“We’ve been undertaking a significant review of our entertainment strategy, based on our rich viewership data and what our customers are telling us.

“We have been getting feedback from customers that they don’t like repeats on some of our affiliate channels (for your readers’ reference, these are the channels where we pass content straight through from international providers).

“We’ve been listening to that and want to address it. We are working on plans that would see us create new Sky channels that are more tailored for New Zealand audiences and where we can have more control on the titles we serve.

“We will be working with the same content partners, just in a different way. We know how much our customers value their entertainment content, so we want to reassure them any changes would be made with their preferences in mind.”

The company was “still some way off making any changes” and she said customers would be “the first to hear from us, with plenty of advance notice”.

After further questions, Sky issued a third statement last Monday, further articulating its position.

“We are currently in discussions with an international partner around changes to their pass-through channels within our Sky entertainment portfolio,” Murray said.

“The conversation is about changing the way we work with that partner to deliver content – not a wholesale ‘loss’ of content that our customers love. Our commitment is to continue delivering the shows and content our audiences love, likely through new, Sky-curated channels.

“Historically, pass-through channels have been a good way for content providers to package content for linear distribution. But as entertainment models evolve and viewer habits have shifted, other options may make more sense for some of our partners. That’s the discussion we’re having.”

She said that by building channels itself, Sky could choose and curate content “that we know our customers enjoy and engage with” and reduce the number of repeats.

She reiterated nothing would change for some months.

One of the issues facing Sky TV and other TV networks is consumers turning to platforms such as YouTube in increasing numbers to select specific content, such as children’s shows.

Sky will also no doubt be balancing the commercial opportunity of running its own channels and the risk of a consumer backlash if subscription-paying customers suddenly lose access to some of their favourite channels and shows.

In Australia, pay-channel operator Foxtel recently lost a swag of Warner Bros Discovery children’s content, including the Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels. In 2023, Foxtel lost Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., although the former became a free-to-air channel.

Sky still has the Warner Bros Discovery-owned Cartoon Network and it appears this will be retained.

As well as the five Paramount-owned channels that are part of Sky’s menu, Sky’s Neon streaming service also screens shows from Showtime, owned by Paramount.

Showtime owns shows such as Yellowjackets and Billions.

Sky said: “Showtime shows are available on Neon and Sky and will be for the foreseeable future, including Yellowjackets and Billions. We’re actively working to bring new Showtime titles to Sky and Neon customers.

“For instance ... we are announcing that Dexter: Resurrection will launch on Neon ... we expect a new season of Yellowjackets to launch within the next 12 months, and more show announcements will be forthcoming."

Sky has refused to say if Paramount made the call to end the current terms of the existing contract, or if it was Sky itself.

“The planning for Sky’s refreshed entertainment content framework has been under way for many months, including our planning for Sky-curated channels in the place of some of our pass-through channels. The upcoming ending of a contract period between Sky and Paramount created the opportunity to accelerate this initiative.”

Paramount confirmed the end of the “channel supply agreement later this year”.

Other content partnerships remained in place, said a spokeswoman.

“We appreciate the long-standing partnership with Sky TV and remain committed to delivering exceptional content to our viewers in partnership with Sky.”

Could Nickelodeon Undergo A Major Restructure Under Skydance?

Skydance is currently in the process of acquiring Paramount Global home to IPs like CBS, Nickelodeon and MTV with the deal still awaiting further approval from the FCC. Following Trump's lawsuit with one of Paramount's cable networks the deal is believed to have been postponed.

Although it had been stated from various outlets that this whole lawsuit served as a separate transaction.

As some consumers have heard, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Paramount's new owners might be looking to get rid off Nickelodeon and MTV's other cable networks. This idea wouldn't seem far fetched as Warner Bros. Discovery and NBCUniversal are going a similar scenario.

But what many consumers have been worried about for sometime is how Nickelodeon will be affected. Because there's been a lot of chatter that most of its content is likely to get booted off leaving SpongeBob Squarepants to takeover the channel I mean look at Cartoon Network.

Before AT&T decided to spinoff WarnerMedia and merge with Discovery, Cartoon Network had been branded off as The Teen Titans GO! channel. Initially, it had relied on Summer Camp Island, Infinity Train and The Fungies for life support but after the merger less content came out to the network.

Bloomberg covered this story were it was revealed that Cartoon Network very much like The CW and SABC 3 had been losing millions in ad revenue. If Skydance does acquire Paramount Global you can bet your bottoms that Nickelodeon will undergo some restructure.

As seen with Cartoon Network Studios, it now focuses solely on IPs curated by Cartoon Network over the years as Warner Bros. Animation is the new face of original animation. Skydance has plans to integrate it's animation division with that of Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation.

Nickelodeon over the years had been curating content for Netflix such as Glitch Techs and Pinky Malinky. You can only assume that they'll strengthen this partnership and shift the focus away from its cable networks.

I mean look at MTV.

Paramount is now using the network to air shows like The Big Bang Theory and Teen Wolf. Is there any chance of duplication in other markets now that Comedy Central is on a repetitive slope as acquiring companies tend to scale back on redundancy and low performing assets.
