Telemundo International Acquired Broadcasting Rights To The Colombian Telenovela Enfermeras, Might Air In Africa As Well

Telemundo International which is owned by NBCUniversal International is back again with some great content for their audience. The successful Colombian soap opera Enfermeras (Nurses) produced by CanalRCN (Law Of The Heart), has been confirmed to premier on Wednesday, June 23 in Brazil and Latin America. If you're familiar with Grey's Anatomy this is basically Colombia's version of the show.

This original story will replace False Identity.

Synopsis
María Clara González (Diana Hoyos) works as head of nurses in one of the most recognized hospitals in the city: the Santa Rosa. Life would seem to smile at her were it not for the monotony into which her ma rriage with Román has fallen, with whom she has two children. On the day of her anniversary, María Clara makes the decision to win her husband back and reserves a hotel room to spend the night with him. However, Román suffers a heart attack at the scene and is transferred to an emergency to receive medical help. María Clara spends the night at his side. The next day, a woman named Paula arrives, accompanied by her young son, and tells the nurse that it is Román's first-born son. From there, Maria Clara becomes increasingly disillusioned with her husband, to the point of planning their divorce.

On the other hand, a young resident of internal medicine arrives at the hospital, Dr. Carlos Pérez (Sebastián Carvajal), who immediately has a special connection with María Clara, later becoming more than a friend. However, their relationship will be clouded by multiple obstacles, when Maritza and Valeriano, Carlos's wife and father, respectively, find out what happens between them. In addition, María Clara's enmity with boss Gloria, her children's opposition to her new love, the turbulent business that occurs within the hospital on behalf of Manuel Castro (Lucho Velasco), its scientific director, and the appearance of a new person in Dr. Pérez's life will make their lives take different directions.

In the info provided by Telemundo International they don't list Africa as one of the territories for this telenovela that doesn't imply it won't air maybe they'll latch onto it later like they did with RCN's other production, Law Of The Heart.

Universal, another channel from Telemundo's parent company acquired a Canadian drama with the same title so chances are they'll create another title for it like Santa Rosa (an area in Colombia) or Broken Rose.

The international counterpart is also allocating this show in the super series slot which is the M-Net City of Telemundo but this change could mean that the channel is cutting back on the drug lords or perhaps just adding some variety to its current timeslot.

Telemundo Africa recently joined Zee World and Star Life's 7 day viewing pleasure but the problem here is NBCUniversal hasn't produced much original content for this brand so viewers can actually see how Telemundo is trying to make it work.

They allocated a 1 hour court block, 3 hour repeat block, 2 hour block for fresh telenovelas but the issue now is Telemundo is starting to run low on M-Net City inspired content so chances are that part won't have a dedicated slot as it stands there's only 2 programs left there both of which are currently filming new seasons.

By the looks of things, Telemundo might group the content differently and it wouldn't shock me if 100 Days To Fall In Love were to air after False Identity it would be better than waiting a whole year for one show.

Telemundo is available on DStv and GOtv which a Portuguese and English version of the channel available. It wouldn't shock me if the Portuguese version on channel 507 was discontinued since the English version has a language option.

  1. Im a very big fan of Telemundo Soaps but would really love the English speaking ones since I don't speak Spanish. Sub titles can be frustrating as you miss all the action whilst trying to catch on. Africa telemundo soaps speak English so why can it not be so in America for those who don't speak nor understand Spanish.
