Fans Believe eMedia Investments Is Planning To Revive The International Content Slate On To Top Of Leveraging eVOD's Library To Supplement Isono, Imbewu And Durban Gen On e.tv

Last year, eMedia Investments confirmed to sources that the medical drama Durban Gen would wrap up in the first of quarter of 2023 after accumulating close to 3 million viewers monthly and being the top 10 watched shows on the channel.

Joining the lineup would be Imbewu as eMedia Investments confirmed to sources this past week that the popular soap opera won't be picked up for a sixth season once it finishes broadcast on the channel also within the first quarter of the year.

eMedia Investments is said to be replacing Imbewu with another program but could  hasn't confirmed as much with the likes of Durban Gen with Isono also expected to reach its climax within the same period.

Imbewu has been cancelled on e.tv after 5 seasons

Sources close to eMedia believe that e.tv will undergo some lineup changes within the next quarter of the year to include content from eVOD's library and possibly revive the international content slate on the channel.

eVOD has been producing a bunch of original content like Splintered Pieces, uMbali and Eye For An Eye most of this has yet to be seen on any of eMedia's linear channels. On top of Housewives getting scrapped amidst its premiere on e.tv in 2021.

In an interview with Helga Palmer, eMedia's head of local programming she mentioned that Imbewu was put in a highly competitive timeslot. I mean it was the reasons eNews airs at 8pm on e.tv as Generations follows in the same timeslot on SABC 1.

Practically, all their channels follow a similar pattern I mean Daai Crazy Somer airs weekdays at 17:35 and eExtra's Kuiertyd airs an hour later. Turning to eExtra's Bollywood slate, they air as early as 14:00 all the way to 16:40 with Star Life and Zee World resuming primetime from 18:00.

The idea of Housewives relaunching on that timeslot doesn't seem far fetched as the current 22:00 timeslot were content similar to such hasn't been productive and isn't expected to have that much viewers.

eMedia Investments:
- MultiChoice and eMedia Investments plan to combat load shedding get a lot of attention
Ultraview Pride and Ultraview Indian coming soon to Openview
Could SABC be unveiling another two channels for Openview Ultra?
Glow TV to stop airing on the Openview platform from next month

Same goes for if they plan to revive the international content slate I wouldn't be shocked as movies returned to the 8pm timeslot on Sunday pausing production of Housewives as the viewership for movies was plummeting.

Films used to occupy at least 3-5 slots within the top 10 watched shows on the channel now movies struggle to even make it to the top 20. They even tried rebranding the Saturday night family movies slot in the hopes to save their viewership.

This purposed lineup would be another way for eMedia to streamline their offering as MultiChoice has to been turning to more short form series for M-Net and 1Magic while as having some minor exceptions like The River and Lingashoni.
