People's Weather On DStv Changes Channel Number

From DStv channel 415 to DStv
channel 180 People’s Weather , Africa’s first and only 24/7 climate, environment and weather channel, will be changing its channel number from DStv channel 415 to DStv channel 180 on Tuesday, 5 January 2016. This channel renumbering will allow MultiChoice Africa to create capacity for new channels and future expansion while making channel navigation more user-friendly when the People’s Weather is positioned alongside the Lifestyle and Culture group of channels on the DStv
platform. All DStv subscribers will still be able to get up to date with daily weather forecasts of your favourite destinations on the Detailed Bulletin via its live weather graphics updated every three hours. Subscribers can also stay informed about high tide and low tide per
coastal region with the Coastal Report. People’s Weather also offer viewers riveting programming about the climate, climate change and the effect human nature has on our planet. This year saw the first live broadcast of 24 Hours of Reality and Live Earth: The World Is Watching
direct from Paris on People’s Weather. In joining forces with partners such as Climate Reality and Conservation SA its aims is to educate, inform and engage people in Southern Africa to understand the importance of sustaining the environment that surrounds them.
New programming introduced at the beginning of the year, saw the channel including more lifestyle shows. In Season is a weekly series showcasing the amazing seasonal produce, travel, fun and food to be had in South Africa. A show that will make sure you buy, cook and play
with the seasons. Plus each episode feature an amazing South African chef that will make sure you have
something different to put on the table. My Photo gives every photography enthusiast professional or amateur, a chance to showcase their best photos. Rhino Blog follow
the plight of our rhino’s with presenter Bonné going into the bush to tell their story and the stories of the people trying to save them. People’s Weather strive to tell the
stories of locals living the weather with its ever popular People’s Stories and new additions Under the Sun and Seven Day Forecast living the weather for seven days in small towns around South Africa. Exciting new content is in development for 2016 from Come Rain or Shine a
wedding show with a weather twist to Pet Weather ! Subscribers on all DStv packages (Premium, Extra, Compact, Family, Access & Easyview) can tune in to these great shows on DStv channel 180 from 5 January 2016.

Discovery Networks Brings ID Xtra To DStv Customers

Discovery Networks today announced the expansion of its channel portfolio on DStv with the addition of ID Xtra, the all new, high-quality mystery and suspense channel launching on Tuesday 5 January 2016 on DStv channel 171.
ID Xtra, which will replace ID:
Investigation Discovery when it
launches next month, showcases the best in gripping stories and dramatic reconstructions of everyday people behaving badly, all filmed in a contemporary and stylish format. From desperate, deadly housewives to vengeful, murderous husbands, ID Xtra will depict intriguing and salacious real-life stories of passion, revenge, murder and desire to satisfy the most curious and inquisitive viewer.

If Only FX And TeenNick Could Be On DStv

DStv subscribers have asked multichoice if they will add FX and TeenNick to DStv but their response is check for any updates to programming or new channels.

FX (also known as FX Africa or FOX FX) is a
digital satellite television channel on the StarSat (formerly TopTV) platform as part of the stable of Fox International Channels which features unconventional dramas, comedy and reality series, African documentary series and the cage fighting series EFC Africa. It is available on StarSat  (Channel 132) FX positions itself as "fearless entertainment that celebrates unique creative voices". With a mix of quality, character-driven and often unconventional drama and comedy, FX attracts men and women alike. Shows such as The Americans, Entourage, Bones, Copper, Burn Notice and Seinfeld have become cornerstones of the FX Africa schedule.
Other series carried on the channel include
American Dad!, Fringe, Hell on Wheels, Lie to Me, Peep Show, Rexcue Me, Sons of Anarchy, The Cleveland Show and The Office. Launched in 2004 in the UK, FX has
significantly grown its distribution and currently reaches more than 120 million homes in 95 countries and 11 local languages. FX is available as a linear SD and HD channel and through authenticated FOX Play apps.

TeenNick is an American digital cable and
satellite television channel owned by the MTV Networks Kids & Family Group, a unit of the Viacom Media Networks division of Viacom, which features a mix of original programming, Nickelodeon-produced series, and acquired programs geared towards pre-teens and teenagers. TeenNick, the 24-hour TV network exclusively for and about teens and tweens, is available in more than 71-million households via cable, digital cable and satellite, as well on mobile, VOD and broadband. TeenNick's distinct perspective connects its audience to the electricity and possibilities of teendom, anytime and anywhere, with original series and ever-popular favourites. The channel was originally known as The N from April 1, 2002 (when it originally launched as a program block on Noggin) to September 28, 2009. TeenNick's name was taken from the former "TEENick" program block, which aired on parent channel Nickelodeon from 2001 to 2009. The channel features a mix of programs that target older children and pre-teens, such as Zoey 101, Drake & Josh, Big Time Rush, How to Rock, iCarly, The Naked Brothers Band, Victorious, Sam & Cat, Bella and the Bulldogs and Max & Shred; shows aimed at teenagers and young adults such as Degrassi, Malcolm in the Middle, What I Like About You and How I Met Your Mother and Friends and also animated series from Nicktoons like Legend of Korra, Winx Club, Danny Phantom and Jimmy Neutron and Classic toons from The Splats as a programming block on Nickelodeon like Hey Arnold!, The Ren & Stimpy Show, CatDog, Rocket Power and The Wild Thornberrys.

channel 179) becomes available to DStv
Compact and Family packages from 10
December 2015. The channel, which is currently available to DStv Premium and Extra customers, will now unlock a new world of entertainment to a wider
audience on DStv. On 10 December 2015, Animal Planet (DStv channel 183) will no longer be available to DStv Compact customers, but will continue to be present in the DStv Premium and Extra packages. The change is part of a new packaging strategy for Discovery's channel portfolio on DStv that will capitalise on the entire range of its much-loved brands. The new approach, to be announced shortly, will align these services with DStv customers in a way
that will deliver superior value to fans of
Discovery's brands all over Africa. DStv Compact customers who are fans of this
genre of programming can find similar
programming like award winning documentaries on animals, wild life adventure and exploration of the creatures of our universe on Nat Geo Wild (DStv channel 182) and National Geographic (DStv channel 181).
