Backstage Comes To A Close On Disney Channel Africa In August 2016 And More Disney Original Movies

The first season of our great new series Backstage draws to a close on Disney Channel this month with five premiere episodes from 1st to 5th August at 17:00.

This lively docu-drama chronicles the lives of a group of 12 outstandingly talented teenagers as they live through the highs and lows of attending the prestigious Keaton School of the Arts. Follow them throughout the academic year as their experiences range from worry and disappointment to new friendships and crowning achievements.

In the season finale episode entitled We (Friday 5th August at 17:00) as the school year comes to a close, the future of each student is uncertain. Will Keaton’s talent be recognized? And is Carly and Vanessa’s friendship threatened by the arrival of a talent scout?

Thursdays are big days on Disney Channel in August as Thank Disney It’s Thursday continues. The weekly block is packed with premieres from 17:25 to 19:05.

This month these entertainment extravaganzas contain premiere episodes of Alex & Co, Girl Meets World, Liv and Maddie and Binny and the Ghost.

The episode of Girl Meets World on Thursday 25th August at 17:50 is the third part of a three part story arc entitled Girl Meets Texas. In this episode, Maya, Riley and Lucas travel to Lucas’ Texas home town, where he has been entered into a bull-riding contest at a rodeo. There they discover their true feelings for each other, and come home to deal with the aftermath.

Disney Channel is celebrating Women's Day on 9th August with doubles of many favourite shows, as well as an airing of our great movie Full Out at 10:35!

Full Out (Tuesday 9th August at 10:35) is an inspiring drama which tells the true story of a promising gymnast whose dreams were shattered by a car accident, but fought her way back to gymnastics via hip hop dance.

MIRACULOUS TALES OF LADYBUG AND CAT NOIR

When evil threatens their city, two teens, Marinette and Adrien, transform into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir! Catch premiere episodes of Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir on weekdays from 15th -22nd August at 16:35!

In the episode entitled Gamer (Tuesday 16th August at 16:35) when ruled out of a video game tournament because of Marinette, Max gets akumatized. Now The Gamer, he controls a robot that wreaks havoc. If Ladybug and Cat Noir can't stop him it’s game over!

100th DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE!

In the run-up to the premiere of the 100th Disney Channel Original Movie later this year, Disney Channel is airing previous DCOMs over weekends until then.

The 100th DCOM is the new version of Adventures in Babysitting, which features Disney stars Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) and Sofia Carson (Austin & Ally, Disney’s Descendants).

The previous DCOMs are a feast of fun, including fabulous films like Pixel Perfect (Saturday 6th August at 17.25) and Radio Rebel (Saturday 13th August at 10:40), as well as 16 Wishes (Sunday 28th August at 17:25).
