DStv's New Pop-Up Channel Dedicated To The Greatest Superheroes!

Legendary superheroes to take over the holidays and rule over new action-packed Pop-Up channel.

Superhero HQ is an exciting new Pop-Up channel premiering on DStv, super- powered by Cartoon Network. Superhero HQ is where our universally appealing superheroes will share their best stories about saving the world and their most action-packed adventures, offering viewers an almighty battle between the best of animated adventures against the unsurpassed action-packed superhero movies for the whole family to enjoy!

Superhero HQ’s offering kicks off on Friday, 15 March and runs for two weeks, through to Sunday, 31 March, covering the school holidays. The much-loved superheroes will set up home on DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact on channel 300.

During the day, starting at 06:00, the kids will get to enjoy eight of their favourite animated, caped-hero series like Batman,Superman, Justice League,Green Lantern and Teen Titans. Then, from 20:05 in the evenings, the whole family can settle down to watch some thrilling superhero sagas together such as the four Superman films, and all three Spy Kids movies. For fans of the legendary animated superhero movies, the ultimate selection has been made including The LEGO® Batman Movie, Batman Gotham Knight and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.

“Delivering on a diverse slate of programming that you cannot find anywhere else, Superhero HQ will offer match less animated and live-action superhero entertainment for the whole family,” says Guillaume Coffin, VP Head of Commercial and Business Development. “We know that superheroes are loved by both kids and adults alike, and with 51% of Cartoon Network’s audience comprising of adults, we anticipate again that both kids, and their parents, will tune in to SuperheroHQ to watch our exciting and unique programming line-up. “

The bringing in of acclaimed South African comedian, Comic’s Choice Award and Emmy Award nominee, Mojak Lehoko, is to further reinforce Cartoon Network's commitment to bring localised programming to the African continent. Lehoko will promote the channel, and its content, on and off air, injecting some local humour which will resonate well with African viewers. Not only will Lehoko promote the channel through generic promos, but he will also present super-comedic stand-up videos where he identifies with the humour found in the superheroes of the channel.
