Reminder: eExtra To Undergo Some Changes Amidst The Festive Season

eExtra, a South African free-to-air entertainment channel which is home to various international telenovelas which have proven to be a powerhouse in terms of performance is scheduled to make some minor changes in the coming weeks.

As seen this past week, eExtra uploads the costume based drama The Rebel Princess in place of Twice My Son-In-Law when it concludes week's prior. Accompanying the new series will be a rebroadcast of their first Asian drama, Ice Adonis.

eExtra's Indian offering which was basically being branded as Zee World's leftovers for Twist Of Fate and Kindred Hearts will now start at 14:00. The only difference viewers won't have 16:45 on top of that Blue Venom Girl is back as a double bill alongside Twist Of Fate.

Everyday Novelas:
- Prediction: eBolly to rollout on the Openview platform
The Rebel Princess coming soon to eExtra
Carmen And Razia Sultan coming soon to Zee One and Zee World
Laxmi and more content awaiting launch on Star Life
Daai Crazy Somer coming soon to e.tv
The history of Star Life

From 19 December expect the above-mentioned changes to take effect and for the Zee World block to be isolated on weekdays. Although there's no mention as to why it was altered I have a couple of guesses that make it all the more convincing for fans.

Firstly, Kuiertyd is what builds the channel's audience at this point as seen with Doodsondes on e.tv which accumulates close to 2 million while 7de Laan on SABC 2 can pull almost half of Doodsondes audiences.

The second has to do with the timeslots, India and Turkey get a fair share of the spotlight while other content such as the Asian dramas are left to rot with the only repeats to occur when some audiences aren't up yet basically 5:00.

Die Vertroueling coming soon to eExtra
Barbie: It Takes Two and Thomas And Friends: All Engines Go! coming soon to eToonz

The last option is more connected to item number 2 - competition. I don't get why eExtra had to include Zee TV's programming if the parent company were to run to the same people for a dedicated channel.

But if I had to recall eMedia's history with Bollywood I wouldn't say they were at the worst but it certainly wasn't the strongest parts of the brand. If eBella taught anyone anything was that they're better off playing second fiddle to Zee One than trying to reel their viewers.

This new schedule makes a lot more sense I feel eExtra has a winning chance outside of Zee TV. There's plenty of content in which MultiChoice and StarSat lack or don't have a lot of including but not limited to Mozambican, Pakistani and Brazilian.
