Following the unexpected terminations of eMedia Investments four TV channels primarily eToonz, eExtra, eMovies and eMovies Extra from 1st April. The pay-tv platform has shared some new developments for DStv customers.
First was the overhyped animated channel from NBCUniversal DreamWorks Channel which makes up 90% of eToonz lineup will take up the space of Disney XD on channel 304 after two years. It launched in 2020 on the sinking pay platform StarSat and StarTimes across Africa.

- Kwara TV might launch on DStv
Here's the catch while eToonz was available on the cheapest package Easyview in South Africa the DreamWorks Channel will only be available to Compact+ customers in the rest of Africa with South Africa likely bundling it on Compact.
Family and Access customers will get 1 movie channel to make up for the loss of eMovies which is karate skewed channel KIX while MultiChoice confirms details of the second movie channel launching later in the year.
Easyview customers which had Access to half of these channels aren't getting anything even if they did. The likelihood is that MultiChoice won't bother mentioning it to the media. TNT and Real Time are so far the only valuable channels on there.
Details of a new movie channel was rumoured for the platform for almost a year now to think that it had some involvement with these channels. Not gonna speculate but several names were thrown in the air one of which were FilmBox.
FilmBox is owned by Timeless Dizi Channel's parent company SPI International which is pretty much the AMC of the company with cheesy movies and a little dash of series but less old fashioned.
By looking at all this info I doubt MultiChoice will reconsider and eMedia Investments will take their chances and deal with the loss of revenue. In the end, I can see eExtra and probably eToonz return as eMovies had plenty existing from DStv just like eReality.
