The public broadcaster free-to-air channel SABC 2 which offers a mix of local and international productions as well as the home of most animes such as Bleach, Naruto and One Piece has recently picked up rights to the 2015 series, Dragonball Super. The Dragon Ball series, based on the shonen manga created in 1984, initially aired in Japan in 1986 and crash-landed on Cartoon Network in the US in the late 1990s. With a total of 675 episodes, 20 movies, and more than 250 million manga sold across the globe, Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball franchise remains one of the most popular anime of all time, and the mega fandom all over the world can attest to the popularity of this show. e.tv is dropping Days of Our Lives from 11 April with the red letter broadcaster which is shaking up its primetime schedule with timeslot changes and adding a new local telenovela, The Black Door about a township brothel. e.tv has not decided not to renew the contract for the American soap Days of Our Lives on its schedule, using the money to invest in making more local content for the channel as well as its eVOD video streaming service. Days of Our Lives will end on 11 April on e.tv, a few years after e.tv took over the soap from SABC3 that decided to cancel it as well, with e.tv's decision that will likely not go down very well with loyal viewers who switched to e.tv from SABC3 to follow the daily dramas of the American townsfolk of Salem. MultiChoice is planning to introduce a second movie channel later in the year to replace eMovies and eMovies Extra in South Africa and serve as an additional accessory alongside DreamWorks Channel in the rest of Africa. Of course, details of the supposed channel remains unknown. Last year, it was reported that MultiChoice was looking into adding movie channel at first it was speculated to be for the rest of Africa as South Africa had a large bulk of movie channels until recently as indicated above. In the latest series, main character Theodore Templeton is framed for embezzlement and forced to turn back into Boss Baby. Isono has got another head Earlier in the week, it was reported that e.tv picked up rights to BET's first local telenovela Isono and will be launching a new drama titled, The Black Door in place of Imbewu apparently. The ideology was that both dramas would fill up the slot of two of the four local dramas seen on e.tv but that's not the case. According to sources, the series will fill up the 8:30 slot on weeknights which is home to shows such as the 3 Chicago series, Magnum Pi and NCIS: Los Angeles and is currently vacant for the third season of the military drama S.W.A.T.
