During the year, The Walt Disney Company had been strengthening the reach of Disney+ by using their a vast majority of Disney Channel and Disney Junior to promote a variety of content and this includes Chip'n'Dale: Park Life, Lady And The Tramp and Phineas And Ferb: Candice Against The Universe. As seen in June, Chip'n'Dale: Park Life had been phased out from Disney Channel for more Miraculous Ladybug. If that doesn't get any worse apparently new episodes were slatted to be broadcast this month alongside The Owl House but due to some restructuring within the Disney stable those were delayed. Similar to Disney XD, The House Of Mouse merged several feeds of The Disney Channel alongside the preschool component, Disney Junior. The Winter Wonderland gala ball and derby hosted by SterStatus was a spectacular fundraising event held at Alberton High School. The event featured South African actress Stephanie Baartman, known as Bibi from Getroud et Rugby and now Lettie in Diepe Waters and South African actor and producer David Rees, known for his role as Chris Welmann in 7de Laan. The recorded events and activities but will air on eTV and Via from July 30th with the message of charity. The 10 dedicated ladies from SterStatus Season Five were the driving forces behind this noble cause. All the funds raised will go to the Fabulous Girl Foundation, an organisation dedicated to empowering girls, enhancing their self-esteem and promoting education and skill development. The evening was full of glamour and compassion. The live entertainment was by the band Broke N Free and singer Mirandi Morsner.

During the year, eMedia Investments scooped up the action series Ramo for their eVOD streaming service. As seen with most of the offering on the streamer, this content is allocated to their linear platforms with eExtra slated to air the action drama by the end of August after the third season of Die Put. The series tells the extraordinary story of Ramo, inspired by a real person, a man who goes against his superiors…It’s a story that encompasses the deep conflicts of family, justice, revenge, friendship and love. The series stars Murat Yıldırım, Esra Bilgiç, İlker Aksum and Yiğit Özşener. The series broadcasts daily at 21:30 on eExtra by August 31st. During the week, it was learnt by staff and crew that the SABC had cancelled 7de Laan after its 23 year run on SABC 2 with the last episode set to be broadcast on 26 December 2023. No reason was given for the cancellation but sources believe it could be financial constraints. 7de Laan was first broadcast on 4 April 2000 - initially with only one episode a week before it grew to five days a week - making household names of numerous actors and their characters who inhabited the fictional Hillside suburb in Johannesburg. Created as a stand-in for the eclectic real-life Melville in Johannesburg, the show spawned roadshows and cookbooks over the past two decades as South Africans started quoting some of the characters' sayings, like Oubaas' malapropisms. During the week, it was reported that Disney is looking to sell several linear channels which are no longer core to their business . On top of that, they're looking to close their remaining linear channels in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia by the end of 2023. According to sources, Disney Junior would cease to exist in Turkey by 2024 and this was the last brand under Disney Branded Television following the closures of Disney Channel and Disney XD as further content from all these brands is allocated to Disney+. Disney Junior launched as Playhouse Disney in 2007 and since then he proven to be a popular addition amongst consumers featuring shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sofia The First, Doc McStuffins, Spidey And His Friends and PJ Masks.
