Openview recently put up a new advert where you can see them promote their set of channels but interesting enough on their kids segment We Are Toonz adds Takalani Sesame to the offering. Takalani Sesame is a product of the SABC and Sesame Workshop which broadcasts on SABC 1-3 but why is this show present while others were ignored? SABC 1-3 is available under a must-carry clause while SABC Sport serves as an additional channel so it made sense to promote their sports offering. Takalani Sesame does form part of a division for SABC Education which operates a 24 hour channel through DTT and TelkomOne. Is it possible that SABC Education will find it's way onto Openview likely as a replacement for DBE TV? Through this advert, Openview lists every other channel except DBE TV from what was mentioned during the launch was that it's a pop-up channel which should have ended last year but didn't for some apparent reason. eVOD launched early in August offering a mix of local and international content part of which included a section known as Afrikaans Premium which serves a pay version of Kuiertyd offering current, former and future programming for Kuiertyd. eVOD started out with two exclusive shows through Afrikaans Premium which were Voelvry which has been available through Dizi on StarTimes every weekday and eExtra every Sunday alongside the remake of the Korean drama, Dokter Ali which makes its October debut on eExtra replacing Stiletto Vendetta . Now the platform rolled out another show taking their premium offering to 3 shows which is known other than the Dizi repeat Kurt En Shura the only twist the show is now available in Afrikaans. Following the news of FOX's demise by The Walt Disney Company from October , viewers on StarTimes are set to lose out on another premium channel which is known other than The Smithsonian Channel. The Smithsonian Channel operated by ViacomCBS International launched on StarSat in SA and StarTimes in the rest of Africa in November 2019 alongside Love Nature and at the time served as replacement channels for National Geographic and National Geographic WILD before returning a year. StarTimes doesn't specify the exact reason for the termination of The Smithsonian Channel but they promise to to source out more content on top of looking for replacement channels. From December 2020 till now StarSat lost over 10 channels some of which can be found on Openview and DStv including the entire set of Discovery Channels and two local music channels . The reality competition show Ultimate Braai Master was picked up for the seventh season on e.tv and streamed on Netflix SA earlier in the year. Gqeberha, previously Port Elizabeth, paid R2 million to the production of the upcoming season of Ultimate Braai Master, with host Justin Bonello, for the series to film a self-contained season within the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality. In previous seasons, Ultimate Braai Master, produced by Okuhle Media, would criss-cross South Africa in road trips for braai challenges at various scenic locations in the country. However, with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the only viable and practical possibility is to film a new season over six weeks that is geographically contained. This is similar to what Afrokaans did for M-Net with Survivor SA: Immunity Island in the Eastern Cape that will play out on the Wild Coast in June.
