According to TVSA, an independent website focused on keeping viewers up-to-date on TV related matters in South Africa and their interests in other regions had announced that SABC 1 will retire The Estate from their primetime viewing. The Estate has been in a heap of trouble ever since it was introduced on the revamped S3 channel. Compared to all other dramas which can pull at least a million viewers across the public broadcasters stations, The Estate could only pull 300000 viewers monthly. When it moved to SABC 1, the viewership on S3 began to skyrocket although not a million they were able to double their viewers. Even on SABC 1, the show went on to become one of the top 10 shows on the channel.
