SpongeBob SquarePants: Here Lies Squidward's Hopes And Dreams

When I was younger I always thought that Squidward was a grumpy and mean character because of the way he always talks to his "friends". But as I got older I realise that Squidward wasn't that mean after all - it was SpongeBob.

You see countless scenes where he arrives or works at The Krusty Krab. He is annoyed at all of it when you get older working at jobs you don't like to pay the bills. You can almost relate to him in a way.

It's kind of absurd that us humans have to work our entire lives for money only to then just die. Us humans chase money almost like we're gonna bring it into the next life with us.

I order the food, you cook the food, then the customer gets the food. We do that for 40 years and then we die, sounds like pretty good deal to me. What do you say?, Squidward.

You start to sympathize with him, his character shows that he's tired of it all and the only time you ever see Squidward happy is when he's on vacation or away from people.

The reason Squidward is so mean to SpongeBob and Patrick is because they never leave him alone. Sure these two are very kind and caring individuals in a way but I understand Squidward's frustration with them. You gave to admit these two are very intolerable.

I understand Squidward as I too was an annoying individual as a child so I know what it takes to be an annoying person. It doesn't mean someone is a bad person because they are annoying.

They just treat SpongeBob like a brother to Squidward. He doesn't take no as an answer or know when to stop. He's basically can get on your nerves after a long day.

There's also a scene where Squidward arrives to a tombstone where it's filled with broken dreams.

It goes to show you that a lot of people have dreams that they haven't been able to achieve. This goes to show you that you should be able to chase your dreams don't end up like Squidward and work for a job you hate, grind for your dreams, it will take them but keep grinding and you'll get there.

Development Alert: The Fairly OddParents And My Little Pony: Pony Life Coming Respectively To eToonz And Possible New Channel On DStv Boing Africa

During the year, eMedia Investments had (re)acquired various content from Nickelodeon including Kung Fu Panda: Legends Of Awesomeness, Dora The Explorer and The Loud House. Now the brand is set to rollout their fourth series from the brand, The Fairly OddParents.

Synopsis for the show:

The Fairly OddParents follows Timmy Turner, a 10 year old kid who was given his own fairy godparents Cosmo and Wanda who grant his every wish which at times comes with disastrous consequences. Butch Hartman known for Danny Phantom serves as content creator.

Since the series inception, The Fairly OddParents serves as Nickelodeon's second longest running series behind SpongeBob SquarePants. It has also spawned several live-action films and one series alongside various video games, theme park attractions, figurines and toys.

Recently, Nickelodeon had filed a trademark for The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish for entertainment, sporting and cultural services. Not much info is available about it on whether it will be a TV series or film for the brand or through Paramount+.

This comes after the removal of The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder on Paramount+.

Boing, a children's channel operated by Warner Bros. Discovery funneling shows from Cartoon Network and Cartoonito (formerly Boomerang) is set to broadcast the first season to one of the brand's forgotten shows, My Little Pony: Pony's Life.

Synopsis for the show:

Based on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, the series explores comedic, slice of life stories that Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity and Fluttershy experience, primarily while hanging out at Sugarcube Corner.

The series was picked by Cartoonito (formerly as Boomerang) in 2021 and ran for two seasons. Unlike Friendship Is Magic, the series uses a different art style and each episode is 11 minutes long, consisting of two five-minute segments.

During the year, various content from Boing had been registered under DStv Catch-Up (including My Little Pony: Pony Life). According to reps, there are no plans to add Boing to DStv but that doesn't explain its appearance on Catch-Up maybe it will be added later on.

My guess a replacement for Disney Channel or Nicktoons if not a new channel on the platform.

The Fairly OddParents airs Fridays at 16:30 from 30 June on eToonz while My Little Pony: Pony Life is slated to launch later in July on Boing.

Development Alert: More Nicktoons Coming Soon To Nickelodeon Africa With Best & Bester And The Adventures Of Sammy & Raj

During the year, the repeat studded Nicktoons by Paramount Global unveiled two new series, The Adventures Of Sammy & Raj and Best & Bester. This was the first in several months that the brand had recieved any fresh content following its snoozefest in 2022.

Synopsis for The Adventures Of Sammy & Raj:

The series follows the reality-bending adventures of a pair of cousin-brothers, Sammy and Raj, as they pause, rewind, fast-forward, and slow-motion their way into a whole host of rowdy laugh-out-loud exploits with a mysterious time-altering app at their fingertips.

Nickelodeon International teamed up with Nickelodeon India, a part of Viacom18 that is a joint venture between Paramount Global and Network18, to co-produce The Twisted Timeline of Sammy & Raj making it the first collaboration between both parties.

Synopsis for Best & Bester:

Best & Bester is a buddy comedy about two friends who can transform themselves into whatever they want, once per day — but figuring out what’s the best thing to be can be pretty tricky when you can be anything. Catered for 7 to 11 year olds, it takes the idea of choices and comparisons to ridiculous heights.

The series was produced by Giggle Entertainment who previously worked on 101 Dalmatian Street which was basically a revival to the 101 Dalmatian franchise for Disney Channels in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

After several months, both series are slated to air on Nickelodeon later in July. For a while now, this has been a norm for Paramount to take the channel's very few premier shows and have reruns and further episodes made available to Nickelodeon.

We've been saying this for a while now it's better the brand merges with Nickelodeon as there's isn't much left to explore that you wouldn't find on the main channel. It's weird how the channel is regarded premium in various African markets if the only thing original is NickMusic.

New Series Alert: The Loud House To Make Its Freemium Debut On eToonz

eToonz, South Africa's only free-to-air children's channel home to variety of animated and live-action content part of which is currently viewed on e.tv's youth block Craze has acquired rights to one of Nickelodeon's most popular shows, The Loud House.

Synopsis for The Loud House:

The series revolves around the chaotic everyday life of a boy named Lincoln Loud, who is the middle child and only son in a large family of 11 children. It is set in a fictional town in southeastern Michigan called Royal Woods.

Since the series inception back in 2016, it has spawned seven seasons currently seen on Nickelodeon alongside three feature films two of which are live-action. It has also spawned two spinoffs, The Casagrandes and it's live-action counterpart, The Really Loud House.

In June 2017, the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), headed by CEO Ezekiel Mutua, ordered a ban of the series alongside several shows seen on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel for allegedly promoting homosexual themes to minors.

Although, The Loud House can't be viewed in other parts of Africa alongside Nicktoons. It is however very much active in South Africa on Nickelodeon with eToonz set to be a number of alternatives for The Loud House from 1st June at 16:00.

Nicktoons And Nick Jr. New Look Reportedly Revealed

During the year, Paramount revived the Splat logo on Nickelodeon which at the time was only viewable at the 2023 KCAs and applicable to consumers in the United States. As reported a few days ago, the revamped look is set to hit international shores by July 2023.

“It was time for us to really look at the brand, and look at our audience, and talk with our audience and revisit all the pieces of Nickelodeon,” Sabrina Caluori, evp of global kids and family marketing at Nickelodeon and Paramount, told sources.

As seen already, Nickelodeon is the only brand to have gotten a makeover while sister channels, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons in Africa alongside international brands TeenNick and Nick@Nite have yet to make the switch despite various reports claiming otherwise.

I mean idea of these brands aligning their logo to match that of Nickelodeon doesn't seem far fetched as BET and MTV had all undergone something similar years prior followed by various brands in their division so questions lurk on when the switch will happen.

As seen through MarkPipi's DeviantArt account are the soon to be launched logos for Nicktoons and Nick Jr. alongside Nick International.

Nicktoons only includes the Splat on the part labelled Nick while Nick Jr. goes for a more rounded approach as opposed to incorporating the Splat likely due to the fact it's the only other Nick brand get original programming as opposed to Nicktoons which is just repeats.

During the week, Paramount continued cutting back on their workforce and are currently merging network groups under one division. It wouldn't be shocking if at some point in time likely by 2027 they opted to phase out brands like Nicktoons for Paramount+.

Various licences for the Nick channels had been renewed through 2027 of course not much has been said about the Nickelodeon channels in Africa. It wouldn't be shocking if it went a similar route as seen with their international counterparts.

Recap To The Month: Could Nicktoons Africa Be On The Chopping Block As More Nickelodeon And Nick Jr. Enter The Channel?

A few years ago, Nick Jr. rolled out a dedicated preschool block on Nicktoons featuring shows such as Paw Patrol, Dora The Explorer, Blaze And The Monster Machine and Peppa Pig. Initially serving as a 4 hour block at launch was halved over the years.

We believe the viewership for the channel plummeted as most of their demographic view brands like Cartoon Network and DreamWorks and the other having to make the channel look almost identical to Nick Jr. and limiting the amount of older kids programming.

Of course, there's a lot of complications with the Nick brands across Africa. Nickelodeon Africa is accessible even on rival platforms while in South Africa the brand is viewed as a premium channel same goes for Nick Jr. but with Nicktoons it's where the rolls have been reserved.

That could explain why the channel offered less repeats from Nickelodeon at one point and why currently there's a Nick Jr. The increase in hours for the block is probably another way to give these

Interesting to note, Nicktoons is still The SpongeBob SquarePants and Casagrandes Channel. We believe this may have to do with the fact that The Loud House has been deemed inappropriate in other countries so they went for the runner-up.

Also interesting to take into account, Nick Jr. has got more airtime 45 minutes to be exact as if anyone cares about the 3am slot but it does leave as even more curious to the shift in programming for the channel.

Could it be possible Paramount is ready to retire the brand as most of the offering Best & Bester and The Twisted Timeline Of Sammy And Raj will likely be forgotten in the next couple of months or a year with the others already viewable through Nickelodeon and Nick Jr.

NickMusic and Zulu SpongeBob SquarePants basically the only original aspect to Nicktoons could as well be transmitted through Nickelodeon if Paramount ever learns to put their thinking caps on.

Nickelodeon abandons yet another project

A Netflix renewal and rights extension is among a set of new deals for Bagdasarian Productions’ CG animated series ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks.

Netflix has confirmed additional licensing of the franchise, which has been on the platform since 2016. In addition to renewing seasons one and two, Netflix signed on for seasons three and four worldwide (excluding the U.S., LatAm, Germany, France, China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan).

Radha Mohan gets a release date on Zee World

Earlier in the year, Zee World unveiled a batch of productions set to rollout on the channel later in the year and one of shows on topic include the above-mentioned Radha Mohan which is set to premiere from April 8th.

In modern-day Vrindavan, Mohan, a charming flute player, loses his spark post a tragedy. Radha, who admires him since her childhood days, decides to remind him of his true love, Lord Krishna.

Ice Adonis expands to StarTimes

Stories and triangles revolving around the revenge of a woman who lost everything including her family and her one true love. The series launched in 2012 and consisted of 60 episodes. It was made available to eExtra back in 2021 as the first Asian/Korean based series.

Now the series expands to StarTimes on St Novelas E Plus every weekday at 21:30 from March 30th.

RUMOUR: Nickelodeon To Debut New Logo And Full On Out Rebrand Amidst The 2023 Kids Choice Awards

This era of Nickelodeon was undeniably one of the greatest eras in TV animation. There was a show for everyone and it felt like the characters were in their own universe. The Nicktoons era ascended the channel's popularity to where it is right now even though animation isn't much of a focus right now.

When we look back at Nick's history a major turning point was the logo. What was once an exciting splat oozing with personality essentially became a normal SpongeBob.

Nickelodeon oversimplified their look before oversimplify was cool I mean yeah it gets the job done but at what costs. This logo (above) is where everything went wrong.

Fast forward to 2023 and we might be on the verge of something amazing. Over to Twitter, Nickandmore posted about a new Nickelodeon production dense card used in a SpongeBob episode. Not only that ads for the Kids Choice Awards reveal the same thing.

Our journey continues with The Tiny Chef Show, on Nickelodeon he's got his own live-action puppet show where he makes meals. In a new Instagram post, the character revealed he was invited to the Kids Choice Awards for a "special walk" on the orange carpet.

Since news of the logo surfaced, it was met with a lot of praise by fans for combining the current Nickelodeon logo with the old logo which featured Splat.

This happens to be one of the best logos the channel has ever debuted throughout its existence and it's possible rebrand means that it joins the likes of other brands from Paramount Global to get a makeover including Comedy Central, MTV and BET.

This new logo should it permanent will likely rollout on other Nick brands such as Nick Jr. and Nicktoons seeing as those are sister channels and besides that MTV Base had aligned their logo to match with MTV so there's no reason for why the same can't happen in this instance.

It's farewell to Alvin, Simon, Theodore and David Seville

Just like most other instalments of the franchise, the series reflects the trials and tribulations of a single parent, David Seville, trying to raise six hyper-active Chipmunks. Like most parents, Dave's patience will be pushed to the limit, forcing him to end most sentences in "ALVINNN!!!"

The series gained a lot of popularity following its debut in 2015 on Nickelodeon (or Nicktoons) that multiple broadcasters such as e.tv acquired rights to the musical duo. So far the series has over 260+ episodes within 5 seasons with an additional two seasons possibly scrapped.

In 2019, it was announced an additional two seasons were ordered bringing ALVINNN!!! And The Chipmunks to 360+ episodes and 7 seasons through 2025 but as several sources noted Nickelodeon has removing the show or promoting them less internationally.

Die Put becomes a eVOD exclusive

Ahead of its debut on eExtra in May, eVOD the digital component of the channel announced the upcoming third season of Die Put would be available to stream on the platform two months in advance. I don't know but it doesn't look like eMedia is pulling a DStv.

I mean several channels ranging from M-Net, 1Magic even the BBC are labelled as premium based channels with the second grade channels such as Me, Mzansi Magic and BBC UKTV picking up the slack now eExtra knows how it feels to be second rate.

The Bellas are making a comeback on E!

Following the network's commitment to Total Bellas and Total Divas, E! a celebrity based lifestyle channel which since NBCUniversal had been cutting back on original programming supplies content from Bravo had announced the launch of Nikki Bella Says I Do.

Nikki Bella, a WWE Superstar, and, Artem Chingvintsev "Dancing with the Stars" champion, share all of their special moments of the ultimate decision to get married in the city of lights on their four-part special event tagging along will be Brie Bella.

The series is slated to premiere on E! from Sunday, 12 March at 19:05 CAT.

In other developments, E!'s sister channel Telemundo will be rolling out two new dramas in its repeat padded schedule, Until Money Do Us Part and Ana's Revenge in place of The Way To Paradise and The Chosen Granddaughter in the coming months.

During the week, Peppa Pig got some much needed attention after a Facebook user called Daily Nick uploaded a clip to one of the episodes titled Glasses Show and the Facebook rodents swooped in and deemed it sexually inappropriate.

Taking to account that Facebook has become an absolute joke and if there's one thing Elon can save it's Facebook. It's currently a trainwreck waiting to happen if Peppa Pig glasses is inappropriate then posting about the weather is deemed violent.

Peppa Pig has been having a run since 2004 and has been a part of gags, jokes and has even made various appearances take for instance Family Guy where she has killed in a car accident or Robot Chicken where she was deemed a criminal to society.

All of this makes me feel as if she was being targeted about Facebook's latest rant with the character is something to laugh about.

Marvel might be putting the breaks on new content

Marvel's big MCU Phase 5 reveal at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 revealed six shows would likely be arriving on Disney+ in 2023, that number allegedly may drop to only two with Loki Season 2 and Secret Invasion being the only "sure bets" for this year.

As reported by THR, this news follows comments by Disney CEO Bob Iger, in which he said the company needs to be "better at curating" franchise content that is "extraordinarily expensive.

Marvel content obviously doesn't come cheap, and Disney was planning on potentially releasing Loki's second season, Secret Invasion, What If... ?'s second season, Ironheart, Echo, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos in 2023. If these changes are to go through, sources say Loki and Secret Invasion may be the only ones to make it out, even though shows like Echo and Ironheart have wrapped their productions months ago.

“There is going to be a level of rigor on Marvel and across the entire company,” one company insider says. “Numbers matter now, and costs are going to be outlined and enforced.”

Telemundo still lagging behind schedule

For several months, Telemundo has been lagging behind in terms of original programming leading repeat padded African feed of the channel seen on MultiChoice's platforms to sought content from Colombian broadcasters Caracol Television and RCN Television.

Caracol Television had worked with the channel on Hidden Passions including the second season and is supplying the upcoming Ana's Revenge while RCN Television has Nurses and The Scent Of Passion with Until Money Do Us Part rolling out in the coming month.

After a long while since the channel struggled to obtain original programming, it was announced from the main feed that Telemundo will be rolling out a new show from March 7th 2023 titled Game Of Lies (Juego De Mentiras) starring Arap Bethke and Altair Jarabo.

The story is set in the city of Los Angeles and San Clemente, California, Game Of Lies follows the footsteps of César Ferrer, a hard working man who always dreamed of having his own family and who gives his life for his own daughter Noelia.

Last month, MultiChoice gave several DStv customers above Access including Family, Compact, Compact+ and Premium customers access to kykNET Lekker with no exact details as to why that is so as they were trying to block out repeats which includes this channel.

As some consumers on Access aren't aware, eExtra's Kuiertyd recieved its first rival last year as kykNET's sister channel kykNET & Kie welcomed In Die Ysterhand Se Greep with consumers having access to Kind Van Die Noodlot.

Consisting of 148 episodes, Kind Van Die Noodlot follows Defne and Kahraman Yorukman a wealthy and childless couple whose family rejects them and this drives Defne to find an alternative way to give her husband an heir: She decides to hire a surrogate mother to give birth to a child for them.

Between You And Me coming soon to Zee One

Zee One a Bollywood entertainment channel which is meant to serve as the more freemium tier to the pay-tv brand Zee World is set to introduce another exclusive series titled Between You And Me (Meri Hanikarak Biwi).

This show revolves around the life of two completely different individuals, Akilesh Pandey and Iravati aka Ira Desai. Aksilesh is a village simpleton and an ardent follower of Bajrang Bali. He is illiterate, but a great wrestler, while Ira is an aspiring medical student. Destiny had meant these two individuals to meet and unite.

The Hindi drama series aired between 2017 to 2019 on &TV starring Karan Suchak and Jiya Shankar and is expected to air on Zee One from 3 January at 7pm.

Evil: Curse Of The Sands was abruptly scrapped although they had 30 episodes remaining.

After setting multiple records for HBO and HBO Max, House of the Dragon season 1 has topped 2022's most-pirated TV shows list. The fantasy drama acts as a prequel to Game of Thrones, adapting George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood novel, and chronicling the downfall of House Targaryen, namely with the death of Paddy Considine's King Viserys and plotting from the Hightower family to overthrow the Targaryens, all culminating in the war known as the Dance of the Dragons. Developed by Martin and showrunner Ryan Condal, House of the Dragon season 1 scored largely favorable reviews from critics and audiences alike, and its success is being seen in even the more unsavory corners of the Internet.

As the year comes to a close, TorrentFreak reports that House of the Dragon has topped 2022's most-pirated TV shows list. Coming in at the top of the list, the HBO series has officially surpassed its predecessor, Game of Thrones, which was dominating the piracy charts even three years after coming to an end. The disrespect of Nickelodeon

In June 2020, it was revealed that Nickelodeon had won the rights to Dana Simpson’s comic strip Phoebe and Her Unicorn, a property that the studio was eyeing as a multi-platform franchise across an TV animated series, movies and more. Fast forward to 2022, Nickelodeon axed the project due to it not catering well to boys.

Phoebe and her Unicorn follows 9-year-old Phoebe Howell, a girl in the fourth grade, who deals with childhood challenges alongside her unicorn Marigold, friend Max and enemy Dakota. Phoebe meets Marigold after skipping a rock across a pond, accidentally hitting the unicorn in the face. Freed from her own reflection, the unicorn—named Marigold Heavenly Nostrils—gives Phoebe one wish, which she decides to use by making the unicorn her best friend. Marigold has magical powers, i.e. she can divert or redirect rain and send text messages and broadcast a Wi-Fi hotspot through her horn. Her most highly coveted power though is her “Shield of Boringness” spell, which causes humans to view her as nothing out of the ordinary and allows her to interact with them on a daily basis.

Basically, a network that offers shows such as Monster High, Mysticons, Regal Academy, Winx Club, Legend Of Korra and Miraculous in which they got into legal issues with Disney opted not to move forward with this project because it doesn't cater well to boys.

New Phillipine series coming soon to St Novelas Plus

Novelas E Plus, a general entertainment channel on StarSat that is home to telenovelas from the Phillipines, Mexico and Turkey is set to rollout a brand new drama series titled Viral Scandal.

Not to be mistaken with the Korean drama High Society Scandal, Viral Scandal follows the lives of a simple family become disrupted when a scandalous video involving their eldest daughter goes viral. It stars Charlie Dizon, Jake Cuenca, Dimples Romana, and Joshua Garcia.

The series premiered on Kapamilya Channel's Primetime Bida evening block, A2Z and TV5, and worldwide via The Filipino Channel on November 15, 2021. It is expected to be premiere on Novelas E Plus by January 13, 2023.

Get ready to show off your element-bending skills as Paramount+ is brewing a new Avatar animated series. The show is slated for a 2025 release and will feature an ‘earth Avatar’ after Aang and Korra. There is also a report that an animated movie will arrive in theaters after the series comes out and will have the same Avatar as the show.

Avatar Studios is building its own universe now, and with many projects booked and planned ahead, there is going to be no shortage of Avatar content for fans. An adult Aang movie is reportedly coming to theaters on October 10, 2025, as well as the much-anticipated on-demand series. Both will be released in the same year – a major launch for the studio.

The movie will be Avatar Studios’ first-ever project, hence this implies that it will come before the animated series, followed by the animated movie. Fans should also not forget that there is a live-action young Aang series coming in 2023.

Eternal Love is back by popular demand on Star Life

Eternal Love revolves around the lives of Dr. Rohit Sippy and Sonakshi Rastogi, two completely different individuals belonging to completely different worlds unaware of the fact that their worlds, though poles apart, are meant to collide.

It is an Indian romantic drama television series that aired from 17 June 2019 to 14 March 2020 on StarPlus. Produced by Sandiip Sikcand under SOL Productions, it starred Karan Grover and Dipika Kakar as lead actors.

The series aired on the channel in 2021 and makes a comeback as part of The Best Of Star Life from January 9 replacing Forbidden Love.

Second SABC News channel reportedly in development

SABC News has been exclusive to DTT and MultiChoice's DStv platform giving viewers insights on what's happening in South Africa and across the world. Despite having a bit of rivalry with eNCA remains as another valuable brand to the market.

As seen within their bulletins, it was revealed that the public broadcaster wants to launch its 7th TV channel by next year probably before March which serves as an expansion to the current SABC News Channel offering multilingual content and a possible replacement to SABC Parliament.

Of course, the public broadcaster fails to mention where they'll get the necessary funds to go on such a venture. My guess is the channel will serve as one of the upcoming channels for Openview (Openview Ultra, grain of salt) and DStv.

My guess seeing as this channel may not be tied down like the SABC News Channel is that it will be crawling with repeats from SABC 1-3 possibly dubbed and offer primetime news for about 2 hours.

Another video game is being ordered to series

A live-action adaptation of PlayStation’s hit video game franchise “God of War” has been ordered to series at Amazon’s Prime Video, with “Wheel of Time” boss Rafe Judkins set as showrunner.

Based on the massively popular 2018 video game, the show follows Kratos, the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard, per Amazon’s description. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son Atreus to spread her ashes from the highest peak — his wife’s final wish. Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.

The world bids farewell to another artist

DJ, dancer and producer tWitch, whose real name is Stephen Boss, has died at the age of 40. His death was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office and the Los Angeles Police Department.

At around 11:20 a.m. local time Tuesday, officers were dispatched to a motel in the Encino neighborhood on a call of an "ambulance death investigation," the LAPD said in a statement Wednesday. Investigators said Boss' death was a suicide.

Boss and his wife, Allison Holker, are both dancers who appeared on the competition series "So You Think You Can Dance?" and "Dancing with the Stars." The couple married in 2013 and marked their ninth wedding anniversary this week. They share three children.
