eVOD Onthul Nuwe Turkse Drama Aslan Leeuhart

eVOD, 'n Suid-Afrikaanse stroomdiens wat plaaslik vervaardigde inhoud en internasionale dienste aanbied, het die byvoeging van 'n nuwe reeks getiteld Aslan Leeuhart aangekondig. Die reeks, bekend as Aile in Turkye, sal vanaf 7 Januarie op eVOD stroom.

eVOD Unveils New Turkish Drama Aslan Leeuhart

eVOD, a South African based streaming services offering locally produced content and international services has announced the addition of a new series titled Aslan Leeuhart. Known as Aile in Turkey, the series will be streaming on eVOD from January 7th.

Synopsis for Aslan Leeuhart 

Much of the drama stems from Hülya’s obsessive control over her sons. She views Devin as a threat to her dominance and uses manipulative tactics—including using Aslan's estranged brother, Cihan, as a "trump card"—to sabotage their relationship.

Cihan Soykan, the "dark" member of the family, seeks therapy from Devin in secret. This leads to a massive confrontation between the two brothers as the bloody secrets of the Soykan past are exposed.

The Soykans face external threats from rival crime families, most notably İlyas Koruzade. This conflict escalates into bombings and targeted attacks, forcing Aslan and Cihan to form an uneasy alliance to protect the family.

Throughout the series, Aslan and Devin fight to build a "normal" life. A major late-series plot point involves Devin's high-risk pregnancy, which she initially tries to hide from Aslan due to the danger their lifestyle poses. 

It starred Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ as Aslan Soykan, Serenay Sarıkaya as Devin Akın, Nur Sürer as Hülya Soykan, Nejat İşler as Cihan Soykan, Canan Ergüder as Leyla Soykan Sayıcı and Levent Ülgen as İbrahim Soykan.

Aslan Leeuhart premiered on March 7, 2023 and concluded on January 30, 2024 on Show TV. The series consisted of 30 episodes each with a duration of 120 minutes (2 hours).

Later in the month, eMedia Investments' will be debuting a new romantic drama, Sout Van Die Aarde. The romantic drama stars Berk Atan and Gülsim Ali play the leading roles in this comedy drama.

January 2026 On Nick Jr. Across Europe And Africa | Returning Shows Including Dora And Tim Rex In Space

Nick Jr. is not skimping on premieres in January, and this channel is also entering a new phase for the domestic audience.

As you already know, both Nickelodeon and Nicktoons are undergoing major changes starting in January, as we are switching from the ad-supported version to becoming an ad-free channel. You know what that means: less time passes between individual programs, often only a promo or short filler is aired, which allows even more shows to be broadcast thanks to the freed-up airtime.

But let's get to the novelties. At the beginning of the month, Dora's final season continues, and the day after the series finale, a channel premiere takes its place. It's been more than a year since new episodes last aired, so it was high time for the final season of Sharkdog. The third season will air on weekday mornings, with afternoon repeats. Thanks to the global feed covering many countries across multiple continents, repeat slots are necessary so that every country can watch their favorite shows at a convenient local time. That's why all premiere times are listed in this article, although this may not necessarily continue in the future.

Finally, the January novelties conclude with the premieres of the second season of Tim Rex In Space. For this series, premieres will also be in the morning, repeated twice during the day and again early the next morning.

It should also be mentioned that with the new feed, the schedule changes in that Blaze and the Monster Machines returns to the regular lineup, while The Adventures of Paddington is removed.

Channel Premiere: Uhambo Coming This January To Star Khanya

Star Khanya, a general entertainment channel offering Zulu dubbed Bollywood dramas has announced the addition of a new series, Uhambo. This means "Travelling" or "The Journey" in Isizulu and is known in India as Sampoorna.

Synopsis for Uhambo 

Mitti, a devoted homemaker, is thrust into a crisis when Naina, a young woman who secretly loves Aakash, makes serious allegations against him, leading to his arrest. As a police investigation begins, led by Inspector Sattu, Mitti is forced to grapple with doubt and emotional turmoil. The narrative focuses on her journey to uncover the hidden truths behind the accusations and her struggle to fight for justice and reclaim her dignity amidst the public scandal. The show explores the complexities of trust and societal expectations as Mitti decides whether to stand by her husband or confront the unsettling reality of the situation. 

Based on the Bengali series Noshtoneer which dealt with sensitive themes like marital rape and a woman's fight to protect her sister-in-law from abuse, suggesting the Hindi adaptation also tackles weighty social issues. 

It starred Sandipta Sen as Mitti Kapoor Malhotra, Aham Sharma as Dr. Akash Malhotra, Vishal Aditya Singh as SI Satyendra "Sattu" Prasad Lohar and Riyaa Kapoor as Naina Singh in leading roles.

Uhambo premiered on StarPlus on 8 September 2025 and concluded on 9 December 2025 after 85 half hour episodes. The series is scheduled to air on Star Khanya from Mondays to Fridays at 8:30PM starting from 5th of January.

Channel Closure: TLNovelas Will Stop Airing On DStv And GOtv From 31 January 2026 Due To Canal+'s Cost Cutting At MultiChoice

MultiChoice in a statement:

We regularly review our channel line-up to ensure we offer customers the best in local and international content. This is done to ensure we deliver unbeatable content and that our DStv services cater for the needs and viewing requirements of our customers. As part of this ongoing process, some channels may be terminated. 

After Canal+ managed to forge an agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery for MultiChoice operations in Africa. A notice was sent out informing subscribers of TLNovelas's departure from DStv on 31 January 2026.

Not long ago, Paramount had claimed the lives of CBS Reality, CBS Justice, MTV Base and BET. Now consumers have to sayanara to TLNovelas which serves as the first victim in Canal+'s cost cutting.

TLNovelas was added to MultiChoice's DStv and GOtv platforms across Africa in September 2020 as a pop-up channel. StarTimes offered it as a permanent addition in a separate agreement when it launched in May 2020 - no longer available.

For DStv consumers, this was accompanied by two other pop-up channels, Timeless Dizi Channel and ZooMoo. Out of the three, MultiChoice had opted to keep only TLNovelas while removing ZooMoo and Timeless Dizi Channel. 

After five years, TLNovelas will take a bow on 31 January 2026 with Love To Death and It Had To Be You airing in double bill form. MultiChoice has no plans to replace the channel leaving Telemundo as the only other alternative on the platform.

Telemundo will be launching a new female led drama The Woman In Charge which serves as a reboot to Woman Of Steel. This will be followed by the romantic drama Love Of My Life in the month of February.

Channel Premiere: Love Of My Life Coming Soon To Telemundo Across Africa This February

Not to be mistaken with the Colombian series on eExtra, Telemundo, a Spanish language and English dubbed entertainment channel will be rolling out a new series called Love Of My Life. Known as La Mujer De Mi Vida it airs from 23 February.

Synopsis for Love Of My Life

Love Of My Life centers on Ricardo Oribe, a successful but physically unattractive businessman who is deeply devoted to his wife, Daniela Millán, an aspiring actress. 

Ricardo's life is shattered when his best friend, Emilio García, betrays him in a plot to seize his business empire and family. Emilio attempts to murder Ricardo, and although Ricardo survives, he is left with amnesia and is presumed dead by his loved ones.

Fifteen years later, after undergoing significant physical changes and finally recovering his memory, Ricardo returns to his home city. To avoid legal traps set by Emilio and keep his family safe, he assumes a new identity as Pablo Silva.

Ricardo/Pablo must stay incognito while trying to win back the love of his life (Daniela) and reconnect with his children, all while seeking justice against the man who stole his life.

eExtra, a general entertainment channel offering telenovelas from Turkey, India and Asia will air a brand new series, Sout Van Die Aarde. Berk Atan and Gülsim Ali play the leading roles in this comedy drama.

Synopsis for Sout Van Die Aarde 

The story follows three cousins—Taner, Ramazan, and Veysel—who have been inseparable since childhood. Despite limited resources, they are self-taught inventors who spend their lives trying to build a unique airplane.

In Gedelli, there is a belief that whenever a lover's heart is broken or someone suffers from unrequited love, a rock rolls down and falls from the Gönül Dağı (Mountain of Hearts).

The emotional core of the series begins with Taner's enduring love for his childhood sweetheart, Dilek. After years apart, Dilek returns to Gedelli as a geologist, leading to an unexpected reunion. 

Sout Van Die Aarde will air on daily at 18:30 from Monday 19 January with Kelders Van Geheime moving to 19:30. As e.tv adjusts its primetime schedule, Kelders Van Geheime will no longer have simultaneous broadcasts on eExtra.

Channel Closure: History Channel Will Stop Airing In Turkey From 31 December 2025 Alongside CBS Reality In Romania

According to insiders, History Channel will be bowing out in Turkey by the end of 2025. The reason for its termination is unknown but this happens to be the Pan European feed that is seen on DStv across Africa.

This comes after reports had surfaced that Disney and Hearst Corporation that formed A+E Global Media were looking to sell the company with Starz eyed out as a potential buyer. We assume with a sale more restructuring will be underway for its international operations.

Also joining History Channel by 31 December 2025 will be CBS Justice in Africa alongside CBS Reality with Poland and recently Romania announced for closures of the brand.

Following Paramount's acquisition by Skydance, the company has been streamlining it's operations affecting its joint venture with AMC Networks International. This even includes MTV's music channels and BET's operations in France and Africa.

As mentioned, in some of these markets CBS Reality and Paramount's fleet of channels are being replaced. Unlike MultiChoice, that could be losing 16 channels by the end of December part of which has to do with its dispute with Warner Bros. Discovery.

Major Shakeup: eExtra Airs Rebroadcasts Of Uzozisola: Regrets, Removes Scandal, House Of Zwide And More Shows From The Lineup

During the month, e.tv reported that they would be making changes to their primetime schedule by grouping shows like Kelders Van Geheime with House Of Zwide and the now axed Scandal!. They also further isolated e.tv News and Uzozisola: Regrets.

From 1st January, eExtra will be making some adjustments to its weekday morning schedule which mainly considered of old shows and reruns to primetime. This included House Of Zwide, Scandal!, Isitha: The Enemy and Smoke & Mirrors that is now axed.

Uzozisola: Regrets will broadcast daily in Smoke & Mirror's timeslot from 09:35 which is probably their way of making up for moving the Bollywood drama to late nights at 09:30 from 19 January.

Instead of airing IThemba Alibulali perhaps eExtra removed House Of Zwide in favour of eKasi: Our Stories in the 10:00 timeslot. This will be followed by Ashes To Ashes and Gold Diggers at 11:00 and 11:30 respectively all of which here are reruns.

Maybe this is eMedia's way of trying to give eExtra some uniqueness and open the gap to prioritise it's existing shows.

Kuma: The Other Wife, a primetime show is getting burnt off at 12:50 while as retaining its late night slot 23:00. For some odd reason Viola will be taking up its afternoon timeslot at 14:40.

The only sensible thing was moving Naagin to 12:00 as that is a rerun but with eExtra being home to these shows it's likely to anger viewers as supernatural shows often get the most attention.

Viola and eKasi: Our Stories, why do they exist? I mean eExtra would have been able to accommodate Kuma: The Other Wife and Naagin with the respect they deserve. Now you have a show that will get even less viewers and another that will barely get much.

eExtra's simultaneous broadcasts with e.tv for Yosef and Kelders Van Geheime are still intact during this period at least. But Yosef and Chrysalis can also be seen at 13:50 and 15:40 respectively.

Development Alert: The Curse Won't Be Replaced With Another Telenovela Once It Concludes On TLNovelas Across Africa

With a few days left in 2025, TLNovelas will be starting of 2026 with even lesser shows once The Curse concludes. 

According to the programme guide, It Had To Be You and Love To Death will soon air as a double bill while Fall Into Temptation remains as is. Usually when TLNovelas does this it implies that a major shakeup could be on the cards.

It wouldn't be shocking, when TLNovelas launched in Africa all their shows aired in double bill form and as time passed this was further reduced and aligned with Las Estrellas in Mexico and TLN Network.

Of course, this change appears to be very confusing for It Had To Be You and Love To Death because if you analyse the new schedule. You would find that It Had To Be You and Love To Death start almost an hour early at 15:00 WAT and 16:35 WAT respectively.

Fall Into Temptation comes on 10 minutes later at 18:10 WAT.

Ratings Flop??? Could Uzozisola Regrets Move To Late Nights On e.tv Signal A Dark Fate?

A few months ago, eMedia Investments decided to rival with Zee Africa's Zee Zonke channel by launching Uzozisola: Regrets. This was accompanied by a repeat broadcast of IThemba Alibulali from Star Khanya.

TAMS got the axe from last year meaning consumers and other media outlets wouldn't really get the gist on which program would be a major gainer or a flop to the channel.

e.tv used the 20:30 timeslot for soon to be shuttered BET Africa's Redemption and Isono even uBettina Wethu from SABC 1. These were all local dramas and when news that Zulu dubbed Bollywood drama was launching it likely scared away these viewers.

It happened with e.tv's Sunday night movie block at 20:00 when the channel decided to air Is'phindiselo and have movies come an hour later. Although, it wasn't necessarily a flop having local dramas in it did however lead movies to dip in ratings.

From January 16, Isitha: The Enemy would be taking up Uzozisola Regrets timeslot at 20:30.

Uzozisola: Regrets being distant from all the other primetime shows does kind of raise red flags it could as well be the signal that very much like Nikiwe maybe they're letting it die.

Another scenario would them perhaps licensing some of these shows from Star Khanya and Zee Zonke as seen with IThemba Alibulali. Maybe this is what could become of Uzozisola: Regrets once it ends on the channel.

Major Shake-Up. e.tv Moves House Of Zwide, Kelders Van Geheime And More Shows To New Timeslots

For weeks, eMedia Investments had been teasing viewers with some breaking news and now the cat is out of the bag. The broadcaster will be making changes to e.tv's local portfolio in 2026 with some shows like e.tv news airing almost two hours early at 18:30.

This is the timeslot currently occupied by Amalanga Awafani on SABC 1 and by moving news here means they'll be minimal division amongst viewers. 

The most shocking for some viewers will be Kelders Van Geheime as e.tv built up some Afrikaans block which paired up with Yosef and rebroadcast of eExtra's Viola. Now Kelders Van Geheime will be airing 30 minutes later at 19:00.

House Of Zwide and Scandal! will be airing 30 minutes later at 19:30 and 20:00 respectively. Isitha: The Enemy will be airing an hour earlier at 20:30 with Smokes & Mirrors remaining at 21:00.

eMedia Investments hasn't stated why they're adjusting their schedule once again but several scenarios could come into play. Kelders Van Geheime's move was probably their way of trying to group all their local content together.

Isitha: The Enemy's move to an earlier timeslot could stem from the Zulu dubbed drama Uzozisola: Regrets. With TAMS dead, we can only assume this Indian drama had become a flop in its current timeslot so e.tv is burning it off at 21:30.

Catch Me A Killer, Showmax Original Series, Launches On Canal+'s Polar+ In France Starting January 5th

“Catch Me A Killer is the true story of the first serial killer profiler in South Africa,” says lead actress Charlotte Hope, who played Myranda in Game of Thrones and headlined Starz’s The Spanish Princess as Catherine of Aragon. “She is called Micki Pistorius and, frankly, she’s amazing.” 

South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) winner Rene van Rooyen (Oscar entry Toorbos, Alles Malan, Summertide) agrees. “Living in South Africa amid a wave of violence, we have all been asking for a superhero, and here we have the true story of a superhero in the 1990s,” says Rene, who alternates directing duties with SAFTA winner Brett Michael-Innes (Fiela Se Kind) and Tracey Larcombe (Silent Witness). 

Adapted from Pistorius’ memoir of the same name, the 10-part series follows Pistorius, a newly qualified forensic psychologist, as she tracks down South Africa’s most feared killers. Each episode looks at another of her cases, from the Cleveland Killer to Stewart ‘Boetie Boer’ Wilken, taking viewers across the country. 

“Catch Me A Killer is about Micki’s experience of trying to understand the psychology of serial killers, but it’s also more than that,” says Charlotte. “On one hand it’s a true crime: every week we have a different episode, a different serial killer and a different case to solve. But it’s also a character study. This is a woman who goes through a huge emotional journey; in understanding the psychology of the killers, she's also aware of what’s happening psychologically to herself.”

As her character says in the series, “Whoever fights monsters should see that in the process he does not become a monster too.”  

A co-production between Showmax and Germany’s Night Train Media, Catch Me A Killer is also a classic underdog story: Micki is the only female profiler in a predominantly male police force, many of whom are deeply suspicious of the whole concept of psychology and think trying to understand the killers is a waste of time and resources. 

The series is also a time-capsule for 1990s South Africa: when the optimism of the country’s new democracy was undermined by a string of serial killers. 

SAFTA winner Amy Jephta (Oscar entry Barakat, Devil’s Peak, Showmax Original Skemerdans) is the lead writer, alongside the likes of Sarah Hooper (Shameless), Jessica Ruston (Harlots) and Oliver Frampton (Sister Boniface Mysteries). Among other episodes, Amy scripts the two-part pilot, which tells the story of the Station Strangler. 

“The series opens in the place that I come from, Mitchell’s Plain,” says Amy. “I was in grade 1 at the time of the Station Stranger killer and my mother was a police officer at the same station that Micki was assigned to in 1994. I was in and out of that police station. So I remember the fear in that community and what it felt like to be a kid at a time where there were these boys being abducted. So I could draw a lot on my first-hand feeling.” 

“It’s not a whodunnit; it’s a whydunnit,” adds Amy. “You’re inside the perspective of these killers and the victim’s families as much as you are inside Micki’s perspective. Can she get to the heart of understanding the mind of the killer she’s tracking? Why did these people commit these acts? It’s a fascinating cat and mouse story.”

Apart from Steven Ward (One Piece) and newcomer Donna Cormack-Thomson as series regulars, the supporting cast changes each episode. Look out for the likes of Lemogang Tsipa (Shaka iLembe), Waldemar Schultz (Die Byl), Ivan Zimmermann (Alles Malan), Frank Rautenbach (Lioness, Summertide), Silwerskerm winner Carel Nel (Gaia), and SAFTA winner Louw Venter (Swartwater), not to mention SAFTA nominees Albert Pretorius (Spinners) and Sean Cameron Michael (Fried Barry) as Stewart ‘Boetie Boer’ Wilken and FBI profiler Robert Ressler respectively. 

Paramount+ Greenlights Mo Willems’ ‘The Elephant & Piggie Show’ and ‘The Pigeon Show!’

Paramount+ is getting into the Mo Willems’ animated animal business in a big way. The streamer announced today that it has greenlit two animated series, The Elephant & Piggie Show! and The Pigeon Show! Starring the Pigeon, based on the best-selling children’s author and illustrator’s books. This is the first time Paramount+ is collaborating with the author’s Hidden Pigeon production company.

“Mo Willems has delighted kids and ‘former kids’ around the world with these beloved characters,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+. “Whether it’s Elephant and Piggie navigating the hard work of ‘best-friending’ or The Pigeon confusing wants and needs (a hot dog! a cookie! to drive the bus!), these characters remind us that the best stories are the ones that make us laugh and feel something real. The Elephant & Piggie Show! is described as a warm, comedic pre-K series about the hilarious and sometimes challenging work of “best-friending.” The series takes place in the small, walkable neighborhood of Willemsburg, which is full of new locations audiences will love. Elephant Gerald is careful; his best friend Piggie is not. Gerald worries so that Piggie does not have to and together, along with young audiences, they will celebrate the messy and joyful art of friendship.

The Pigeon Show! Starring the Pigeon animates the day-to-day struggles of a pigeon who just wants to be listened to. He will be your best friend if you have a bus and you let him drive it. The series features familiar characters from Willems’ books, such as the adorable Duckling who always seems to get what she wants, plus new characters, like The Pigeon’s 150-million-year-old pterodactyl grandmother, Nana-Dactyl, and his best wing-pals, Ima Pigeon and Doug Pigeon.

Willems is a #1 New York Times best-selling author and illustrator who has received the Caldecott Honor on three occasions (for Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity). His popular Elephant & Piggie early reader series has been awarded two Theodor Seuss Geisel Medals (for There Is a Bird on Your Head! and Are You Ready to Play Outside?) and five Geisel Honors (for We Are in a Book!, I Broke My Trunk!, Let’s Go for a Drive!, A Big Guy Took My Ball!, and Waiting Is Not Easy!). The Librarians: The Next Chapter Marks A Thrilling Return To Magic And Adventure, Premiering 4 January 2026 On Universal TV Across Africa

Universal TV (DStv 117) today announced that The Librarians: The Next Chapter will premiere on 4 January 2026 at 18:20 (CAT), with new episodes airing every Sunday in a double bill each week.

A spinoff of the hit series The Librarians, the new action-adventure drama delivers a fresh twist on the world of magical artifacts, daring missions, and secret knowledge. The story centres on a Librarian from the past who time-travels to the present - only to find himself stuck in a world he no longer recognises.
