According to some insiders, TLNovelas allegedly had two shows slated for African audiences and were slated to launch in the first quarter of the year. Following their axing, these titles would be directed to TLN Network in Angola and Mozambique.
Affected shows included Juana's Story (La Historia De Juana) and Aurora's Quest (El Ángel De Aurora).
Synopsis for Juana's Story
The narrative follows Juana Guadalupe Bravo (played by Camila Valero), a 20-year-old virgin and engineering student. Her life is unexpectedly upended during a routine medical checkup when she is accidentally artificially inseminated due to a clinical mix-up.
As Juana grapples with an impossible pregnancy, she eventually crosses paths with the biological father, Gabriel Rubio (played by Brandon Peniche). Gabriel is a powerful businessman and cancer survivor who had previously frozen his sperm, believing it was his only chance to have a child and leave a legacy. Despite their vastly different backgrounds, the two begin a complicated journey that evolves into a deep, unconventional romance.
Synopsis for Aurora's Quest
The story is set in motion by Jezabel, Aurora's jealous sister, who orchestrates a brutal attack on Aurora by a man known as "El Pintas". Aurora becomes pregnant as a result of this rape.
On Aurora’s wedding day to her fiancé, Antonio, Jezabel presents a falsified DNA test claiming the baby is not his. Simultaneously, El Pintas calls Antonio to falsely claim he and Aurora were lovers. Devastated, Antonio abandons Aurora at the altar.
Driven by shame and sexism, Aurora’s father, Miguel, snatches her newborn son, Gabriel, and gives him to a humble couple, Pascual and Victoria, to raise.
Gabriel has grown up as Ángel Santos, unaware of his true origin. Destiny brings him into Aurora’s world when he begins working at her corporation.
Firstly, Canal+ has been slashing costs at MultiChoice and TLNovelas happens to be the first victim in this pursuit. Other cuts ranged from sporting events seen on SuperSport such as Philly Games and World Darts Championship.
Another theory to various DStv consumers is that the French broadcaster has plans to possibly possibly ramp up another TV channel, Novelas TV.
Novelas TV is the go to destination for French dubbed Latin American and Turkish telenovelas for consumers in France and Africa. A Polish version known as Novelas+ is being broadcast on Platforma Canal+ in Poland.
In technicality, it would be rivalling with both Telemundo and eExtra's existing offering on DStv.
MultiChoice had mentioned that they plan to enhance consumer's offering with more content and channels. To some, this could as well imply possibly reverting further content from TLNovelas onto Novelas TV or whatever the French prefers to call it.
It's less likely to be referred to as Novelas TV seeing as there's already one in Africa but rather Novelas+ as seen in Poland seeing as there's no overlap.
Novelas TV being a localised brand with both French and Polish audio could signal that a speculated feed will be in African languages.
KykNET has been distributing Afrikaans dubbed Turkish telenovelas like My Naam Is Farah and Kind Van Die Noodlot. Oddly enough, it had even been picked up by Maisha Magic which is based in East Africa so don't be surprised if that got slotted in.
Canal+ currently has a 37% stake in the Asian based streamer VIU and is looking to acquire majority stake. They've followed a similar route as Zee TV and KykNET with localised dubbing to international dramas again could be slotted in.
Teresa, Love Spell and the funnel of content viewed on TLNovelas again might as well garner some new life on Novelas TV.

As part of this ongoing process, some channels may be terminated.
Not long ago, Paramount had claimed the lives of CBS Reality, CBS Justice, MTV Base and BET. Now consumers have to sayanara to TLNovelas which serves as the first victim in Canal+'s cost cutting.
TLNovelas was added to MultiChoice's DStv and GOtv platforms across Africa in September 2020 as a pop-up channel. StarTimes offered it as a permanent addition in a separate agreement when it launched in May 2020 - no longer available.
For DStv consumers, this was accompanied by two other pop-up channels, Timeless Dizi Channel and ZooMoo. Out of the three, MultiChoice had opted to keep only TLNovelas while removing ZooMoo and Timeless Dizi Channel.
After five years, TLNovelas will take a bow on 31 January 2026 with Love To Death and It Had To Be You airing in double bill form. MultiChoice has no plans to replace the channel leaving Telemundo as the only other alternative on the platform.
Telemundo will be launching a new female led drama The Woman In Charge which serves as a reboot to Woman Of Steel. This will be followed by the romantic drama Love Of My Life in the month of February.
With a few days left in 2025, TLNovelas will be starting of 2026 with even lesser shows once The Curse concludes.
According to the programme guide, It Had To Be You and Love To Death will soon air as a double bill while Fall Into Temptation remains as is. Usually when TLNovelas does this it implies that a major shakeup could be on the cards.
It wouldn't be shocking, when TLNovelas launched in Africa all their shows aired in double bill form and as time passed this was further reduced and aligned with Las Estrellas in Mexico and TLN Network.
Of course, this change appears to be very confusing for It Had To Be You and Love To Death because if you analyse the new schedule. You would find that It Had To Be You and Love To Death start almost an hour early at 15:00 WAT and 16:35 WAT respectively.
Fall Into Temptation comes on 10 minutes later at 18:10 WAT.
TLNovelas, a Mexican based entertainment channel by TelevisaUnivision that offers telenovelas in English and Portuguese has announced the addition of Amigas Y Rivales. This translates to Friends And Rivals, the series is slated to rollout in 2026.
Synopsis for Amigas Y Rivales
Amigas Y Rivales tells the story of four women from different social backgrounds. The first is Laura, a studious, sensitive, serious girl from a middle-class family; she studies data processing in a private university because she received a scholarship.
Jimena is the typical rich girl, dissipated and irresponsible, for whom sex is just another amusement. At one point she is kidnapped although she doesn't realize it. She lives with Sebastián, a drug dealer who gives her drugs in exchange for her having sex with men in his home. Ofelia is Jimena's best friend. Like Jimena, she is rich and lives for pleasure and fun, until she gets infected with HIV.
The fourth protagonist is Nayeli, who has a humble background and works as a maid in Jimena's home. Nayeli dreams of being a Hollywood actress, like her idol, Salma Hayek. This dream takes her to the United States illegally, where she meets boxer Johnny Trinidad, who falls in love with her. She is reported to the immigration service and deported back to Mexico.

TLNovelas is launching a new original series that dives into the supernatural called Love To Death (Amar A Muerte). This will be the second series TLNovelas is looking to rollout in the month of November following It Had To Be You.
Starring Angelique Boyer, Alexis Ayala and Michel Brown in the leading roles, Amar a Muerte is a love story of crossed fates and second chances that explores the mystery of life after death. A media magnate (Ayala) is assassinated on his wedding day at the same time a hitman in the U.S., known as “El Chino Valdés” (Brown), is executed in the electric chair. The magnate reincarnates in the body of the hired assassin, whose soul lands in the body of a professor of anthropology played by Arturo Barba.
The series is created by writer and journalist Leonardo Padrón and produced by Lemon Films for W Studios and Univision. The cast also includes Macarena Achaga, Gonzalo Peña, Cinthia Vázquez, Jessica Mas, Henry Zakka, Nestor Rodulfo, Barbara López, Jessica Díaz, Cayetano Arámburo, Roberto Duarte and Claudia Martín as Eva Carvajal.
Based on the Spanish telenovela En Cuerpo Ajeno, it premiered on Univision from 29 October 2018 and concluded on 3 March 2019 after 87 episodes. The first episode is scheduled to broadcast across Africa on TLNovelas from 24 November 2025.

A few years ago, AMC Networks International made the decision to discontinue distribution of the EVA channel for consumers across the African market. It was Telemundo's first ever competitor in the region to offer English dubbed telenovelas from Latin America and Colombia.
It Had To Be You (Tenías Que Ser Tú) served as one of the remaining shows on the network with TLNovelas set to add it to their lineup from November 10. Ariadne Díaz and Andrés Palacios arrive on TLNovelas screens with a story for the whole family.

Synopsis for Three Sides Of Ana
Over a road trip, triplets Ana Laura, Ana Leticia, and Ana Lucía, along with their parents, suffer a dramatic accident crashing by the side of a river. The consequences of this event are catastrophic: Both parents die, Ana Laura loses one leg, and Ana Lucía, unconscious, is dragged by the river’s flow. Only Ana Leticia, who actually caused the accident, emerges unscathed.
Soledad, a woman who was seriously hurt after her daughter’s death, helps Ana Lucía, whom she finds agonizing. Although Soledad discovers who the girl is, she takes advantage of her memory loss regarding the accident and her family and decides to keep her, making her believe she is her mother.

TLNovelas, a Mexican based entertainment channel operated by TelevisaUnivision that distribute a variety of Portuguese telenovelas is set to rollout a new series titled Happily Ever After. Known in Mexico as Eternamente Amándonos, the series will commence on March 31st, 2025 replacing The Path Of Love once it ends.
Synopsis of Happily Ever After
Paula Bernal and Rogelio Iturbide, two people with very different lives, instantly fall in love upon meeting and marry without letting Rogelio's family know, especially the matriarch of the family, Martina Rangel. When Paula arrives from Mexico City to the Iturbide's home, her lifestyle ideas clash with those of Martina, a manipulative woman accustomed to controlling her surroundings. Martina has sacrificed her happiness to follow the customs of Morelia society and, feeling threatened, declares a war on Paula.
Based on the Turkish drama İstanbullu Gelin, the series stars Diana Bracho, Marcus Ornellas and Alejandra Robles Gil in leading roles. Those residing in South Africa would be familiar with its premise as eMedia Investments acquired and dubbed its Turkish counterpart as Deur Dik En Dun.
Happily Ever After premiered on Las Estrellas from 27 February to 11 August 2023 with 120 half hour episodes having being filmed.
In other developments, Fernanda Colungo will be starring in Telemundo's newest addition in February, The Count: Love And Honor. This will be the channel's second adaptation from The Count Of Monte Cristo following the successful debut of The Boss in the 2010s which starred Aracley Arambula.
Based on the Venezuelan telenovela La Zulianita, A Shelter For Love follows Luciana, a joyful and beautiful girl, manages to evade the clutches of Don Aquiles, an evil man, after the death of her father in order to save herself from his sexual harassment. She meets a handsome guy named Rodrigo who holds a reputation as a lady-killer.
Zuria Vega and Gabriel Soto star as the main protagonists, while Laura Flores, Jessica Coch, Humberto Elizondo and Frances Ondiviela star as the main antagonists.
Road To Destiny follows Luisa Fernanda Pérez, a beautiful, 18-year-old student, has two passions: mastering the violin and gardening, a skill she learned from her father, Pedro, the former groundskeeper of the wealthy Altamirano family's estate. A chance encounter with destiny alters her life after she is injured in a car accident caused by Luis (her biological father).
Based on the Mexican telenovela La Hija Del Jardinero, The series stars Paulina Goto and Horacio Pancheri as the main protagonists with Ana Patricia Rojo, René Strickler and Lisette Morelos as the main antagonists.
e.tv hits a new low with a rebroadcast of eKasi: Our Stories
In a not so surprising move by the broadcaster, The Last Word With Shahan Ramkissoon, Devi and Checkpoint will now air 2 hours later at 22:30 as primetime is set to be bombarded with repeats of eKasi: Our Stories. We can only assume similar to Isiphetho: Destiny even the 20:30 slot is a danger zone.
By this time, Uzalo is broadcast on SABC 1 and seeing as e.tv and SABC 1 are targeting the same viewers you can only assume that a majority have a preference to long form soaps. Unlike Isiphetho: Destiny, these shows were commissioned by eNCA so there's a strong chance it will remain on the air.
But with the number of times they've changed their schedule I wouldn't be shocked if e.tv scrapped current affairs from weekdays as they've got these batch of shows like uMbali and Splintered Pieces on eVOD. None of which have yet to be added on eMedia's linear platforms and e.tv has already seen constraints in their schedule.
Batwheels expands to DStv Access
Produced by Warner Bros Animation, the series follows a group of sentient super-powered crime-fighting vehicles defending Gotham City alongside a host of DC superheroes. Brought to life by the Batcomputer to help defend Gotham City, the heroic Batwheels are thrust into hilarious hijinks and jaw-dropping action while learning important life lessons.
Led by Bam the Batmobile, the Batwheels must navigate the challenges of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid. The relatable and aspirational series follows the team’s journey as they thrill and entertain with their heroic adventures, as well as demonstrate to preschool kids the value of self-confidence, friendship and teamwork.
After being made available on Cartoonito by March 2023, Play Room had acquired rights to superhero themed preschool series following its rollout on Netflix in September. The series is slated to air from 1st November at 18:15 and it's rollout on the channel coincides with Cartoon Network as they will be celebrating Teen Titans GO! 400th episode milestone with a bunch of DC themed content.
Shadows Of The Past now slated to rollout on TLNovelas
After failing to rollout on the channel earlier in the year, TLNovelas is now slated to include the former FOX soap Shadow Of The Past by December replacing the current rebroadcast of Timeless Love. Similar to Telemundo, it appears primetime is now being revived as the latter gripped to 1 timeslot.
Based on 2001 telenovela El Manantial, it follows Two very different families live in the village of Santa Lucía who are involved in a whirlwind of passion, pain, and revenge. From those opposite sides, Aldonza and Cristóbal meet and a bond that will face hurdles is formed.
Michelle Renaud and Pablo Lyle stars as the protagonists, while Alexis Ayala and Alejandra Barros stars as the antagonists. There is a special participation of Susana González and René Strickler, with Alfredo Adame, Cynthia Klitbo and Manuel "Flaco" Ibáñez.
Memo Santos Pérez makes a living driving his trailer. In addition to being loving to his family, he wants to form a home with Úrsula, a woman with a dark past whom he has just proposed to. When his life plans are underway, Olivia, his ex-girlfriend, on the verge of death, confesses to him that they had a daughter and asks him to look for her at the home of Daniela Gallardo and Fausto Beltran, Isabella's adoptive parents. Memo goes to the Beltrán family's house to meet his daughter, where he is mistaken for Daniela's new assistant.
Daniela is successful a landscape designer who has been unable to fulfill her dream of carrying a child in her womb. The series premieres across Africa from 25 November replacing My Secret once it comes to an end with Telemundo scheduled to air a new Colombian series from RCN Television titled Ana's New Life later in the month. Both brands hit a repetitive slope for most of the year and these shows continue to serve as the only few primetime shows with Telemundo also offering Queen Of The South.

It starred Gala Montes as Valentina Fuentes Barrios, Juan Diego Covarrubias as Claudio Barrios, Sergio Goyri as Guillermo Vargas Mota, Ana Belena as Helena Vargas Reyna and Osvaldo de León as Héctor Casanova Morales.
The Thread Of Love debuted on Las Estrellas 26 April to 7 October 2021 with 120 half hour episodes having been filmed. Before it's rollout on TLNovelas, TelevisaUnivision had licensed the content to various broadcasters in the African market.
The series will air on 22 July replacing The One Who Couldn't Love and prior to this another series My Secret rolls out in June replacing Thinking Of You.
During the year, TLNovelas had hit a repetitive slot as seen with rival broadcaster Telemundo as not much new content had been reported except for Thinking Of You. Now the channel is gearing up rollout its next show by June titled My Secret (Mí Secreto).
Synopsis for My Secret:
Valeria is forced to take the identity of her best friend Natalia, whom she believes to be dead, in order to avoid going to jail for a crime she did not commit. As she assumes her new reality, Valeria suffers constantly from the fear of being discovered.

Based on the 1974 telenovela Ha llegado Una Intrusa, My Secret debuted on Mexican broadcaster Las Estrellas from 12 September 2022 to 24 February 2023. 120 episodes had been filmed each with a duration of 45 minutes.
My Secret will start 10 June on TLNovelas replacing Thinking Of You. Prior to this, a rebroadcast of Timeless Love launches on the channel in place of Shadows From The Past which had been delayed.
Parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, after unsuccessful attempts to sell the unprofitable fandom, gaming and comedy entertainment division, is shutting down Rooster Teeth’s operations. RT general manager Jordan Levin announced the shutdown of Austin-based Rooster Teeth at an all-hands meeting Wednesday and in a memo distributed to staff.
Warner Bros. Discovery is currently in talks to sell the rights to certain Rooster Teeth catalog content and intellectual property such as the popular anime-style series “RWBY” (pictured above), pioneering sci-fi spoof “Red vs. Blue,” and Michael B. Jordan’s animated mecha series “Gen:Lock.” In addition, WBD is seeking to sell the Roost podcast network, with shows spanning gaming, true crime, fandom, comedy and food, which for the time being will continue to operate.
Primetime is halted
After announcing the inclusion of Shadows Of The Past, TLNovelas will be making another U-turn in their upcoming plans with a repeat of Timeless Love from April 22. Further growing the number of reruns on the channel to take on rival Telemundo.
Based on the 1988 telenovela La Mentira, Timeless Love (Cuando Me Enamoro) is the story of Renata and Jeronimo, whose all-embracing love for each other is undermined by bitterness and betrayal, and by the insidious poison of a malicious lie.
Georgie and Mandy TV series in development
CBS has formally ordered a spinoff of Young Sheldon — itself a Big Bang prequel — that will focus on Georgie (Montana Jordan), Sheldon’s older brother, and his fiancée, Mandy (Emily Osment), as they raise their young family in Texas. The project has been in the works since January, and a straight-to-series order was expected after deals closed.
Young Sheldon executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland will continue in their roles on the new series, which will be part of CBS’ 2024-25 slate. Warner Bros. TV, Lorre’s longtime home, is producing.
FOX Life was home to various telenovelas viewed in Latin America and Turkey alongside reality shows and drama series. It debuted in 2016 across Africa featuring various shows like the Turkish drama Matter Of Respect alongside Portuguese shows like Along Came Love.
As seen by September 2020, Disney had opted to discontinue carriage of the FOX Life brand across Africa and since then several content from the channel had resurfaced on TLNovelas such as Roads To Destiny, Secrets At The Hotel and The Candidate.
During the week, it was revealed that Shadows Of The Past (La Sombra Del Pasado) will be returning to Africa therefore completing the set of Portuguese shows from TelevisaUnivision to have aired on FOX Life.
Based on 2001 telenovela El Manantial, it follows Two very different families live in the village of Santa Lucía who are involved in a whirlwind of passion, pain, and revenge. From those opposite sides, Aldonza and Cristóbal meet and a bond that will face hurdles is formed.
Michelle Renaud and Pablo Lyle stars as the protagonists, while Alexis Ayala and Alejandra Barros stars as the antagonists. There is a special participation of Susana González and René Strickler, with Alfredo Adame, Cynthia Klitbo and Manuel "Flaco" Ibáñez.
The series will start airing on 22nd April replacing Crown Of Tears once it ends.
TLNovelas, a Mexican entertainment channel operated by TelevisaUnivision that is home to various Spanish language telenovelas is set to rollout a new musical drama, Thinking Of You (Pienso En Ti).
Synopsis for Thinking Of You:
Emilia, against her mother's wishes, confronts everyone and everything to pursue her dream of being a successful singer. When Emilia meets Ángel, her idol, she finds the strength to pursue her dream without imagining that it would be her voice, that would give Ángel back his illusion and his life.
Thinking Of You debuted on Las Estrellas from from 13 March 2023 and concluded on 23 June 2023 with a total of 75 episodes each with a 45 minute duration.
It starred Dulce María as Emilia Rivero, David Zepeda as Ángel Santiago, Alexis Ayala as Federico Pérez, Lore Graniewicz as Alicia Garibay, Brandon Peniche as Manolo Pérez, Jessica Díaz as Jeanine Loher, Yolanda Ventura as Daniela Avendaño and Henry Zakka as Alfonso Rivero.
Thinking Of You replaces The Rich Also Cry on TLNovelas from February 26. Prior to that, TLNovelas will be doubling up on the rebroadcasts as seen with rivals like Telemundo with Along Came Love replacing The Stepmother during that time.
The series explores the controversial life story of a child, Avni Ayesha, born out of wedlock. She is uncomfortable bearing the illegitimate identity that society has painted on her. As a result, Avni develops a strong determination to fight back and does not stop in her adulthood.
It will return to Star Life from 30 January replacing Sacred Relationships.
TLNovelas joins the snooze train with Along Came Love
After being deported and her father died, Luciana decides to return and meet again with the only family she has left: her mother and brother. That is why she travels to the US and shows up at the vineyard where both have worked for the past years, but when she arrives there and meets David, the landowner, she also bumps into an unexpected thing: love.
It will return to TLNovelas from 26 February replacing The Stepmother. This would serve as the first rebroadcast to have aired on the channel since Head Over Heels in 2022 so the channel is now rivalling Telemundo with their repeat padded offering.
Skeem Saam changing timeslots
For years, the SABC1 audience has made a plea, requesting to change the Skeem Saam timeslot, stating that the show timeslot is too early for some as the show broadcasts during the travelling time for a lot of the viewers.
The decision to move Skeem Saam to 19:30 is in line with SABC Video Entertainment's strategy to amplify its primetime local drama offering to its viewers from 19:30 to 21:30 with SABC1s Skeem Saam, Generations: The Legacy, Uzalo and SABC2s Muvhango.
For SABC1, we see this as an opportunity to make the channel edgier and braver and adapt to the audience's needs. The world of television is an exciting platform where we should not be afraid to adapt while upholding our responsibility to shape the youth and societal roles.
Zig & Sharko returns to Cartoonito
WBD (France, Africa), DR TV (Denmark), NRK Super (Norway), Markiza (Slovakia) and ERT (Greece) have bought Zig & Sharko season four (which premiered last fall on French broadcaster Gulli) to begin airing during Q2 to Q4 of this year. And season one is going to K+ Vietnam and Media Prima Malaysia.
Zig & Sharko launched in 2010 and revolves around a hyena’s endless attempts to capture a mermaid who is under the protection of a great white shark.
The show is performing well on Netflix, according to an engagement report released by the streamer last month. Seasons one and two of Zig & Sharko racked up 40 million hours of viewing time in the first half of 2023 on the platform.
