Imbewu And Durban Gen CANCELLED??? As e.tv Acquires Broadcasting Rights To BET's Isono And Launches A New Telenovela The Black Door

There's so many cancellations afoot on eMedia Investments such as the retrenchment of staff at e.tv News which will see the axing of the News And Sport channel on Openview and the renewed partnership with MultiChoice which will see the end of their 4 additional channels as eNCA remains exclusive to DStv.

According to sources, the red company is said to launch the following titles in the month of April on e.tv:

• Isono (from BET)
• The Black Door (new telenovela)

As far as one is concerned there's no series ending in the next month on eExtra on top of being the kykNET of eMedia Investments with a dash of Zee TV. Don't think such content would actually suit the primetime offering on the channel.

As mentioned above, eMedia Investments has been or seen some major cutbacks so if anything these series will likely replace as opposed to boost the current offering seen on their stations.

Just like eExtra, even e.tv has a complicated schedule making it almost impossible to open a gap for these two without removing something else.

e.tv currently houses four local dramas, Scandal has the most views so I doubt that one is going anywhere, Imbewu and House Of Zwide are leading at #2 and #3 with Durban Gen floating within the top 10.

Durban Gen is likely dead at this point so it all goes down to House Of Zwide and Imbewu. If you take viewership into account then House Of Zwide gets the boot but if you had to look at duration then you have Imbewu.

It could explain the timeslot for The Black Door, one of the crew members posted a pic which doesn't give out a release date but mention the series airs weekdays at 21:30 and House Of Zwide began last year so it makes all the more sense to can Imbewu.

Isono replacing Durban Gen doesn't surprise me the least bit I mean the timeslot has been struggling to lure viewers. Durban Gen changed that but it too had a bit of a slip up where one month it would rank at #4 and another drop by #6 while maintaining its position in the top 10.

Here's some details on the two series:

• Isono
Set in the township of Vosloorus, the series focuses on Gabriel (Bohang Moeko), a heroic son born into a dysfunctional family, who finds strength within him to stand up against Mary Ndlovu (Nthati Moshesh), a powerful and evil matriarch who would do anything to serve her own needs.

Genre: Crime, Thriller

• The Black Door
More details will be available soon aside from the timeslot it might be produced by Sloot Jozi Entertainment.

Genre: Telenovela
