Looking for high stakes adventure, non-stop comedy and a sprinkle of friendship and family values? Well, look no further because Cartoon Network Africa is bringing all the action to your screen with this brand-new comedy adventure, Big Blue.

Big Blue follows sibling underwater adventurers Lettie and Lemo and their quirky submarine crew as they explore and protect a vast, ocean-covered planet from ship-stealing crabs, know-it-all jellyfish, a health inspector shark and the murky mass of pollution known as The Blegh! Their underwater life began after a cataclysmic flood led to humans entering the sea to live side by side with aquatic creatures in the Big Blue. Ever since, it’s been a roller coaster ride filled with adventure and mystery as the team must navigate day-to-day challenges such as being stuck on a ship with a crew of different and explosive personalities.

The actual plot twist comes in when the team rescue a magical ocean fairy stowaway, Bacon Berry, a naïve and empathic toddler-like creature who has incredible water-based superpowers. The story unfolds beautifully as viewers get to watch Lettie and Lemo (who are the crew's captain and science officer, respectively), a laidback turtle named Freddie (the ship's mechanic), a nervous dolphin named Phil (the resident medic), and naïve and empathetic Bacon Berry unravel the mysterious secrets of their underwater universe!

Aimed at kids aged five and up, the 52 x 11-minute 2D animated comedy series was created by Gyimah Gariba, a Ghanian Canadian named by Forbes as one of the ‘15 Young African Creatives Rebranding Africa’ in 2015. Big Blue is produced by Toronto-based powerhouse animation shop Guru Studio, complete with an original theme song created by Grammy-winning music producer Timbaland and his ‘Beatclub’ Team.

“I am hoping to inspire kids watching Big Blue to not only see themselves represented on screen but to also plant a seed in their mind that they can be the heroes of their own lives,” says creator Gyimah Gariba. “The story is based on my childhood and running around with my siblings. We were all different ages but the lessons we learned together defined what family meant to us, and that was all about taking care of each other no matter what.”

Keeping My Family Together is Doña Luz Torres' struggle in the beautiful city of Guanajuato, where she runs her roast chicken shop called "MamáGallina", a business that has helped her provide for her three children.

Mariano Rueda is Doña Luz's second son, a responsible oncologist who is ashamed of his own mother. He will marry Constanza Astudillo, daughter of the owner of the hospital where he works. Doña Luz's third son is Eduardo "Lalo" Rueda, a 19-year-old boy who is trying to find himself, or rather to find a job, but he will quickly reflect and stop feeling like a “loser".

Love will also be another impulse for Lalo, and he will find it in "Sol", a poor and hardworking girl. Sol Morales will arrive in Guanajuato after a marriage promise, which Lalo supposedly made to her in their childhood.

What Sol ignores is that everything is a confusion created by another boy who was in the same camp back then: Alan del Olmo, giving rise to an interesting juvenile triangle.

Synopsis For TLNovelas Africa Upcoming Series Simply Maria/Simplemente María

María is a beautiful, strong, and resolute woman who lives in a small town in Mexico. She has a simple life without any luxuries and she doesn’t need any. She enjoys being around her family.

Don Juan attends a party in the town, determined to make some money with his gamecock. He places a bet on it, but he loses before Isauro. He gets a debt that he can’t afford to pay, but Isauro takes advantage on the situation and offers him to call off his debt in exchange for his older daughter, María… and Don Juan takes his offer.

When she learns that she must move in with a man she doesn’t want to live with, María decides to leave her life behind and escape to the capital city. All she has there is her friend Pina, who helps her get a job as maid.

María works very hard, thus, when her birthday comes, Pina practically yanks her out to get distracted and celebrate her arrival to adulthood in Xochimilco. Alejandro meets her there; he gets mesmerized by her beauty and starts courting her.

Pina acknowledges her friend is falling in love with Alejandro and she introduces her to a young man whom she considers to be a better catch for her: Professor Cristóbal. He is a good-hearted man who teaches her how to read and write and, over time, he grows fond of her.

Meanwhile, Alejandro uses of promises that he is not planning to keep to take advantage of María’s innocence. She never had a boyfriend before, so she surrenders to him. She hopes to marry him when she learns she is pregnant, but Alejandro refuses to do so, arguing that he must finish his studies. Angry, María decides to raise her child on her own.

When her baby is born, María is jobless and homeless as well, but she finds a home in Doña Felicitas’ tenement; she is Cristóbal’s mother. There, she starts studying tailoring and dressmaking, a trade that will build her future.

María also comes across with Vanessa’s hostility. She is Alejandro’s sister, who will do anything in her power to prevent them from being together.
María and Alejandro share a son and a love they can’t leave behind, but he always prefers to please his father. Cristóbal reproaches Alejandro for fooling María…but he doesn’t dare to confess his own love for her.

Despite all hardships, María is not a submissive woman, she is ready to face all the obstacles in her life and, even though it won’t be so easy, she will find the way to overcome them, get ahead with her son, and be happy. She is a strong girl with a pure heart, she is a role model woman, she is Simply María.

Mzansi Magic welcomes back the viewers voice awards

MultiChoice is bringing back its DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards in 2022 for a fourth edition that will take place in June as a live broadcast on Mzansi Magic from the Sun Arena in Pretoria.

The return of the DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards after two years - last held in early-2020 just as the Covid-19 pandemic started - follows the return after two years of the 8th Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA's) that will once again be staged in Lagos, Nigeria this year as an in-person awards show, and kykNET's 10th Silwerskermfees film festival set as a hybrid in-person event for Camps Bay in Cape Town from 23 March.

The Covid-19 pandemic forced MultiChoice and M-Net to shutter the DStv Mzansi Magic Viewers Choice Awards, the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and the Silwerskermfees indefinitely, will all 3 events now back on 2022's pan-African entertainment calendar, in addition to the 2022 Cape Town Carnival that is also back after two years on 19 March as an in-person event.

Based on the Tamil series Thirumathi Selvam, Sacred Ties (Pavitra Rishta) follows Manav, a garage owner, is smitten with Archana, a homely and hardworking girl belonging to a middle-class family. When Archana marries Manav, their happiness gets dampened by the crises in his family.

Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput take up the lead roles.

The series premiered in 2016 on Zee World and spawned four new seasons now viewers on Zee One can witness the story from the very beginning tonight at 7pm.

Getroud Met Rugby Cancelled After 6 Seasons On kykNET While S.W.A.T. Returns For A Third Season On e.tv

Getroud Met Rugby is coming to an end

kykNET (DStv channel 144) has announced that its long-running rugby soapie Getroud Met Rugby will end in September 2022 after six seasons (and many more previously as a drama series).

“We will be watching with viewers with heavy hearts as the Stryders and their families and friends leave in September. While it's a difficult decision, it will also open new opportunities," says Waldimar Pelser, director of kykNET channels. "We thank Deon Opperman, Overberg Productions and every cast and crew member who've contributed to the show's successes."

The channel isn't able to reveal what will fill the Getroud timeslot yet.

The season finale of S.W.A.T. is on the horizon

S.W.A.T. season 2 will reach its climax on Wednesday, 2nd March at 20:30 on e.tv thereafter season 3 will followed immediately after season 2 in the same timeslot on Thursday, 3rd March.

In the third season titled Fire In The Sky, the 20-David squad welcomes Lt. Piper Lynch from LAPD Hollywood Division as they race to stop a serial bomber using drones as a detonation devices.
