Galaxy TV To Go Dark On MultiChoice's DStv And GOtv By The End Of July

Galaxy TV is set to be the next channel to exit MultiChoice's DStv and GOtv platforms in Nigeria. Established as a private television network, the channel featured a range of content from news, sports, business, entertainment and other local programming.

Statement from MultiChoice:

The decision to remove Galaxy TV comes in line with MultiChoice's strategy of continuously review local and international content and optimise their lineup. This is to ensure we deliver unbeatable content and that our services caters to the needs of our consumers.

Although, Galaxy TV wasn't accessible in South Africa or known in other parts of Africa it did however provide content on our Everyday Novelas column. Some of which can be accessible or awaiting release on the Mexican entertainment channel, TLNovelas.

During the year, Novela Magic went dark on their platforms another brand which was covered on our Everyday Novelas column. Since then, MultiChoice supplemented the offering with Magic Showcase and CineMagic which cater to low tiered consumers like DStv Easyview and GOtv Lite.

More Doodsondes coming soon to Openview

During the year, it was announced that the popular FOX series, Doodsondes (Yasak Elma) will be returning for a fifth season later in the year. In a recent interview, it was also revealed that production had begun on season 6 hinting at a back-to-back rollout.

Doodsondes premiered on eExtra in 2019 and after a few seasons it moved to e.tv. The upcoming seasons are currently listed under eExtra but considering the brand is dubbed Turkwood they might as well be referring to e.tv.

Upcoming shows for eExtra include Ramo, Chrysalis and Annekan Die Swa Kry.

Another yet to be seen TLNovelas original is launching on Galaxy TV

Galaxy TV, a private owned television channel situated in Nigeria had acquired rights to Mexican drama Amar A Muerte (Love To Death). It stars Angelique Boyer, Michel Brown, Alejandro Nones, Arturo Barba, Claudia Martín, Macarena Achaga and Henry Zakka.

This is exactly the case of media mogul Leon Carvajal who thinks he has the perfect life but Lady Death proves to him otherwise when he dies and comes back in a different body only to realize everything around him is in rambles.

A classic Telemundo original to debut on the Passionistas Group

Telemundo, a general entertainment channel owned by NBCUniversal that is home to variety of telenovelas in Latin America had rolled out in the African market by 2013. Unlike fellow competitors TLNovelas, the channel has yet to relive the early 2000s.

But due to a poll held sometime ago, this dream is about to become a reality or at least through their Passionistas Group on Facebook as the classic Tierra De Pasiones (Land Of Passions) will begin streaming on the group from July 26th with English subtitles.

It follows the stormy life of the beautiful Valeria San Román who is full of secrets and disappointments, only her indomitable character gives her the strength to face her enemies, and even her own family, and give love a chance with the appearance of Francisco Contreras.

Everyday Novelas Shorts: Shaka iLembe Make It's Highly Anticipated Debut On Mzansi Magic, Galaxy TV Acquired Broadcasting Rights To Si Nos Dejan And A Rebroadcast Of On The Other Side Of The Wall Rolls Out On Telemundo Africa

Shaka Zulu remake is coming to Mzansi Magic

Set in the 1700s, Shaka iLembe tells the story of the making of the iconic African king, with iterations from his early childhood through to adulthood. The production has been six years in the making, consulting historians, academics, and family descendants, including the incumbent King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, as well as the late King Goodwill Zwelithin.

The series premieres 18 June on Mzansi Magic and will be made available on Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic Urban, Pearl Magic Prime and Maisha Magic Plus.

Si Nos Dejan expands to more African territories

Alicia Montiel has the perfect family and is married to Sergio Carranza, one of the most respected and recognized journalists in Mexico. They have 3 children and are icons and the synonym of the ideal family in society. Alicia's world falls apart when she discovers that Sergio has been unfaithful to her for the last 3 years with the co-host from his television show, Julieta Lugo.

The series launched on Ghanaian platform UTV back in 2022 and was picked up Galaxy TV during the week.

Marjorie De Sousa and Litzy star in this mother duo drama Al Otro Lado Del Muro

The story follows the lives of two women, one of humble origin and the other a prominent figure, who cross the border from Mexico to the United States for different reasons: one chasing a dream and the other fleeing a nightmare. In this contemporary series, which reflects the reality of many emigrants, both women will have to do the impossible to move their children forward and survive, leaving behind everything they knew until then.

It is expected to replace the double bill slot of Blood And Wine from 28 May at 19:00.

New Series Alert: Tomorrow Is A New Day Coming Soon To Galaxy Television

Galaxy TV, a broadcaster based in Nigeria that is known for its selection of telenovelas from TelevisaUnivision which currently supplies the outdated TLNovelas channel will be rolling out a brand new family comedy titled Tomorrow Is A New Day (Y Mañana Sera Otro Dia).

Based on the 2009 Chilean telenovela Cuenta Conmigo, Tomorrow Is A New Day follows Mónica, a career-minded woman, falls in love with Camilo, her married boss. Meanwhile, his secretly terminally-ill wife plans to set up Mónica and her own husband to ensure that her children have a family after her death.

It is expected to replace the third installment to Overcoming titled Overcoming The Past on Galaxy TV while TLNovelas will be rolling out Sightless Love in the coming months to replace the second installment to Overcoming titled Overcoming Heartbreak.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V serves as the fourth spin-off anime series in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise following Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. It also airs weekdays at 17:00 from 14 September.

Joan McHale is a hosting a new E! original

Actor, comedian and television host known for hosting The Soup (2004–2015) and his role as Jeff Winger on the NBC sitcom Community (2009–2015) will be hosting a new celebrity based food show, Celebrity Beef.

Celebrity Beef follows two celebrities as they go head-to-head-in a cook-off and squash their beef with knives in hand, spices on the rack and ready to prepare the best dish.

Overcoming The Past has been picked up by another broadcaster

Ahead of its rollout on TLNovelas, Galaxy TV a general entertainment channel situated in Nigeria joins Kenyan broadcaster Citizen TV to air the third instalment in the Overcoming franchise titled Overcoming The Past (Vencer El Pasado).

The series follows four women who try to overcome misfortunes. Realizing that what is posted on social media is never erased, they must find a solution to live in the present and focus on a positive future if they want to overcome past obstacles.

Overcoming The Past stars Angelique Boyer, Sebastián Rulli, Erika Buenfil, Africa Zavala, Manuel "Flaco" Ibáñez, Leticia Perdigón, Ferdinando Valencia, and Horacio Pancheri.
