Trace Sports Stars is a lifestyle channel that celebrated the life of sports through factual entertainment, reality shows and gossip similar to E! operated by NBCUniversal. The channel supplies various originals such as Up Close, Bad Boys In Sports and Football Stars. The channel was added in 2011/2 on Sky UK and MultiChoice's DStv across Africa as Trace Sports. Two years later, it went dark in the UK which coincides with the rebrand to Trace Sports Stars as they didn't offer live sports and the name didn't coincide with the offering. When looking at a brand name like Trace Sports, one would assume they'd play actual sports like English Premier League, La Liga and WWE and although the content is focused solely on that topic. It just didn't really stick with some consumers. Last February, it was announced that the long-running Nick Jr. series Dora the Explorer would be getting a 3D CG reboot on Paramount+. While initially set for sometime this year, it will unfortunately not be the case. The June 2023 issue of Toy World Magazine declares that the new series with the Latina heroine will arrive next spring. The series, tentatively titled ¡Dora!, is described as a reimagining of the classic show which “promises to strike the perfect balance between the comfort of the familiar and the excitement of the fresh.” It will feature the notable characters from the original series, with not only Boots and Swiper but as the only released art shows, Isa, Tico, and Benny too. PBS Kids is an educational brand operated by the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) targeting children aged 2-8 years. It operates as a programming block on PBS in the United States and also a linear channel currently viewable on MultiChoice's DStv and GOtv in Africa. Last month, Foxtel in Australia sent out a notice to consumers that they would be losing out on shows such as Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Donkey Hodie, Wild Kratts and Hero Elementary as the PBS Kids channel would be going dark by the end of June after 2 years. It means that Africa would once again be the only international territory to package PBS Kids as Australia was one of the few territories to actually offer a 24 hour service. Foxtel highlights viewership as one of the contributing factors to the channel's demise. “We constantly review the performance and popularity of this content and have made the decision to close our PBS Kids channel. PBS Kids will be available to customers until 30 June 2023.”

German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland is removing three channels from its TV line-up. At the end of June 2023, Curiosity Channel (formerly Spiegel TV Wissen) and Spiegel Geschichte will be dropped, a Sky spokesperson confirmed to German industry magazine Digital Fernsehen. Curiosity Channel is currently viewable on MultiChoice's DStv across Africa initially used as collateral for A+E Networks 3 brands at the time Lifetime, History and Crime + Investigation. The channel was founded by former founder of Discovery Channel, John S. Hendricks. Another channel set to be axed before the end of 2023 is operated by Sky Deutschland, Sky Comedy. Although a Sky Comedy isn't offered in Africa the channel bares a resemblance to Paramount Global's Comedy Central also seen on DStv alongside StarTimes (not SA). New revamped children’s show Kids News Room (KNR) not to mistaken with Kagiso Media Group's Newzroom Afrika on DStv will be making its return on SABC 2. The news show for children and is a fusion between education and entertainment, targeted at children between the ages of 7-16 with the aim of reflecting their diversity. It aims to provide children with a platform to express themselves on how they see the world around them whilst encouraging learning, participation, and an inquiring mind. It was first broadcast in English on SABC 2 in 2004 under the name Kids News and then migrated to SABC 1 in 2006. The show has now found its way back onto SABC 2 and promises to convey news in an exciting way that will garner the interest of children around South Africa as the show will be delivered in a variety of languages ranging from Sesotho to isiZulu.
