3 years after its debut in the United States, e.tv which is currently South Africa's most watched English channel acquired broadcasting rights to the first season of the popular medical drama, New Amsterdam. New Amsterdam follows Dr. Max Goodwin as he becomes the medical director of one of the United States' oldest public hospitals, aiming to reform the neglected facility by tearing up its bureaucracy to provide exceptional care to patients. The series stars Ryan Eggold (The Blacklist). As mentioned earlier, e.tv is 3 years behind the United States and also on M-Net which is available on DStv in South Africa. Season 1 airs weekdays at 20:30 from 4 October. New Amsterdam isn't the only program said to air on the channel. Earlier this month, eMedia Investments shocked viewers with the news they no longer have rights to La Liga after announcing last year they acquired 4 year rights to the match. Now it looks like that might not be the only thing cancelled on eMedia's portfolio apparently through an updated schedule the twelfth season of Britain's Got Talent replaces Impact Wrestling after a year on on e.tv from September 26th. Maybe Impact Wrestling will become an Openview exclusive through their News and Sport channel seeing as they still mention it unlike DBE TV but I have my doubts on that as mentioned they no longer have rights to La Liga even after signing a 4 year agreement and also they haven't been promoting it for a while now. Perhaps, they're putting more focus on eVOD as mentioned a month ago. They'd be investing R100 million on fresh content for that service and those millions had to come from somewhere. Cancellation of La Liga was probably in that R100 million

Openview recently put up a new advert where you can see them promote their set of channels but interesting enough on their kids segment We Are Toonz adds Takalani Sesame to the offering. Takalani Sesame is a product of the SABC and Sesame Workshop which broadcasts on SABC 1-3 but why is this show present while others were ignored? SABC 1-3 is available under a must-carry clause while SABC Sport serves as an additional channel so it made sense to promote their sports offering. Takalani Sesame does form part of a division for SABC Education which operates a 24 hour channel through DTT and TelkomOne. Is it possible that SABC Education will find it's way onto Openview likely as a replacement for DBE TV? Through this advert, Openview lists every other channel except DBE TV from what was mentioned during the launch was that it's a pop-up channel which should have ended last year but didn't for some apparent reason. Following the news of FOX's demise by The Walt Disney Company from October , viewers on StarTimes are set to lose out on another premium channel which is known other than The Smithsonian Channel. The Smithsonian Channel operated by ViacomCBS International launched on StarSat in SA and StarTimes in the rest of Africa in November 2019 alongside Love Nature and at the time served as replacement channels for National Geographic and National Geographic WILD before returning a year. StarTimes doesn't specify the exact reason for the termination of The Smithsonian Channel but they promise to to source out more content on top of looking for replacement channels. From December 2020 till now StarSat lost over 10 channels some of which can be found on Openview and DStv including the entire set of Discovery Channels and two local music channels .
