eMedia Vs. MultiChoice: How Weekend Afternoons Might Look For Isono And The Black Door On e.tv With Weekdays On eExtra? + How Much You'll Be Paying For Each DStv Package When MultiChoice Kills 4 Channels?

(You can now share on Facebook)

e.tv plans to reduce their international offering on weeknights by scrapping shows like Chicago PD, The Resident and Seal Team which were currently seen in the 20:30 timeslot for local dramas like Isono and The Black Door.

Also joining the chop will be Days Of Our Lives as its timeslot will be used to fill up the existing offering on the channel while as repeat the newcomers The Black Door and Isono in far off timeslots as seen with 20:30 as seen below:

From April 12th, the lineup appears like this on weekdays:

16:35 Judge Judy
17:00 Isono - repeat
17:30 Droomvelore
18:30 Durban Gen
19:00 House Of Zwide
19:30 Scandal
20:00 e.tv News
20:30 Isono
21:00 Imbewu
21:30 The Black Door

Of course details of the weekend lineup remains quo if I had to guess the schedule could go as follows:

Saturdays
08:30 Scandal! Omnibus
10:20 Imbewu Omnibus
12:15 The Black Door Omnibus
14:20 Little Big Shots/Movies
16:20 Impact
18:00 Date My Family
19:00 South Africa Tonight
19:30 The Carmichael Show

eExtra, a sister channel to e.tv uses a portion of their schedule to repeat the local dramas seen on e.tv if I had to guess again this is how the schedule could look once Days Of Our Lives goes off air from April 11th:

4:30 Just For Laughs
4:55 High Society Scandal
5:35 Surrender In Love
6:20 The Heir
7:10 Blue Venom Girl
7:50 Isono
8:15 Imbewu
8:40 Fatmagul
9:30 House Of Zwide
10:00 The Black Door

eExtra is set to go off air from the 1st April on DStv amidst the prince increase so this is what the prices look like and what viewers on DStv will be getting for each e.tv channel when the changes take into affect.

The prices for each package
- DStv Premium which is R829p/m and Compact+ being R539p/m will be paying an extra R10p/m bringing you to the total of R839p/m and R549p/m
- DStv Compact which is R409p/m recieved the highest increase amongst packages which is R20p/m bringing you a total of R429p/m.
- DStv Family which is R295p/m recieves the second highest increase (for obvious reasons) to R14p/m bringing you to R309p/m.
- DStv Access which is R115p/m recieves the lowest increase which is R5p/m bringing them to R120p/m.
- DStv Easyview remains the same R29p/m.

The replacements for each DStv package
- eMovies and eMovies Extra will be replaced by KIX on DStv Family and Access.
- A second movie channel is expected to launch before the end of the next financial year of course details of the channel is currently unknown.
Also read:
- Potential replacement channel for eMovies
- eToonz will be replaced by two channels PBS Kids on DStv Easyview and for Compact customers DreamWorks which went live on March 18th.
- As of right now, MultiChoice hasn't confirmed whether or not they'll replace eExtra or add something similar for now all viewers are told is to watch kykNET and Mzansi Wethu.

Basically, all DStv customers will be losing 4 channels (with Easyview being 2 channels) and MultiChoice leaves each package with just 1 channel. Kiddies for Easyview skip the two packages that come after it for Compact going up and movies for only Family and Access customers.

In their statements, they mention offering over 120 channels and if you browse through Compact, Compact+ and Premium they basically have a lot of movie channels if you include the African channels while Access and Family have Cartoon Network and Disney Junior so that's where they could have gotten the idea of replacing some channels.

The biggest losers on this list would have to be Easyview. Consumers on this package who do have kids will have to adjust from the switch for entertaining to education while everything else aside from TNT and Real Time is load of crap or accessible on a platform like Openview.
