Fashion One Stops Airing On DStv And StarTimes In General

Fashion One (DStv 178) that has been running outdated and old content on a loop, abruptly stopped broadcasting without warning a few days ago. MultiChoice that tried to engage the Fashion One owners has removed Fashion One with immediate effect from the DStv line-up. Even StarSat and StarTimes scrapped the Fashion channels as well but does anyone really care.

At the moment, DStv subscribers are still trying to digest the changes made with M-Net Movies and SuperSport while StarTimes subscribers act as if nothing happened on top of StarTimes scrapping all the channels from SPI International.

A dead source suggested that a replacement was being considered for DStv and StarTimes but it doesn't look like neither platform care about replacing it.

MultiChoice redirects viewers to Spice TV, TLC and E! while StarTimes remains unresponsive as usual.

Lights Out For FashionTV

Cape Town – DStv is folding up the runway and packing away the Swarovski crystals with FashionTV (DStv 178) that’s going dark on MultiChoice’s satellite pay-TV platform
at the end of this month. FashionTV’s demise on DStv comes after more than a decade and some years – a lifetime in the modelling world – since the 18 year old channel started by Michel Adam first dazzled South African viewers with its unending stream of fashion shows, “midnight haute”, couture collections and fashion
weeks coverage. Sadly in television, not even diamonds
last forever, with the diamond logo’ed channel that calls itself “the biggest fashion medium in the world” that will
go dark on 28 February. Asked why FashionTV is being
discontinued and if the channel will be replaced by another similar type channel, MultiChoice tells Channel24: "FashionTV will be replaced by another channel - we will make the relevant announcements soon". FashionTV (StarSat 282) remains available on StarSat after the channel
went dark for a while in 2015 on that platform. StarSat also carries the Fashion One (StarSat 179) channel that was started by Michael Gleissner. So far DStv subscribers are only told in an electronic programme guide (EPG) message on screen that "Fashion TV will stop airing on 28 February 2016. Thank you for watching". FashionTV didn’t respond to a request for comment made Monday about its
termination on DStv. The demise of FashionTV follows a year after the Style Network from NBCUniversal International Networks was shuttered on DStv at the end of January 2015.
