Nickelodeon reportedly cancels another series

Nickelodeon has reportedly decided to cancel and not renew Warped! for a second season. The news follows the network not renewing Side Hustle for a third season last month. The news comes from TV insider Matt Webb Mitovich at TVLine, however, has yet to be confirmed by Nickelodeon.

In Warped!, Milo, the beloved head geek at a popular strip-mall comic book shop, Warped!, finds his world disrupted when his boss hires a new employee. With the quirky and excitable Ruby now on the payroll, the two form an unlikely alliance to create the world’s greatest graphic novel. Joining them in their adventures are Darby, a smart and fashion-forward friend who is always there to lend a hand, and Hurley, a neighboring pizza shop employee who spends his time coming up with brilliant culinary creations.

More TLNovelas shows swing to Africa

During the past week, it was reported that TLNovelas would begin airing the second instalment to the Overcoming franchise titled Overcoming Heartbreak now there's reports that another African region would air the third instalment, Overcoming The Past.

The series follows four women who try to overcome misfortunes. Realizing that what is posted on social media is never erased, they must find a solution to live in the present and focus on a positive future if they want to overcome past obstacles.

It stars an ensemble cast lead by Angelique Boyer, Sebastián Rulli, Erika Buenfil, Africa Zavala, Manuel "Flaco" Ibáñez, Leticia Perdigón, Ferdinando Valencia, and Horacio Pancheri.

Things are about to get spooky on Zee One

Zee One which serves a duplicate channel to Zee World airing mostly already seen content will be airing another former Zee World drama series titled Curse Of The Sands (Manmohini) starring Reyhna Malhotra, Giaa Manek, Ankit Siwach and Garima Singh Rathore.

Curse Of The Sands follows a witch named Mohini has waited for her unrequited love of 500 years, Rana Saa, who has been reborn as Ram. Ram is a businessman who lives with his wife, Siya, and his half brother, Vivian. Ram and Siya were on the verge of divorce. However, when Siya learns of Mohini, she decides not to divorce Ram to save him.

Season 1 commences this Friday 26 August on Zee One.

TLNovelas Africa Completes The Puzzle Of New Content With Burden Of Guilt And The Highly Anticipated Series, Overcoming Heartbreak

After weeks of anticipation, TLNovelas Africa's only Mexican entertainment channel to offer telenovelas in English and Portuguese completes their trio of new series with Burden Of Guilt joining already announced series Head Over Heels, Giving Up My Life and Overcoming Heartbreak.

Burden Of Guilt (Mi Pecado) follows the lives of childhood best friends Paulino, Rodolfo, Gabino and Matías as their friendship is put to the test as they get older. Matías opts to become a religious men while Gabino becomes a shrewd and greedy man who manipulates those around him.

Maite Perroni and Eugenio Siller star as the protagonists with Francisco Gattorno as the co-protagonist, while Daniela Castro, Sergio Goyri, Sabine Moussier, Jessica Coch, Altaír Jarabo, and Armando Araiza star as the main antagonists.

Overcoming Heartbreak (Vencer El Desamor) tells the story of four women, of different ages and social strata, who are forced to live together under the same roof. At first, the coexistence between them is complicated but their problems with their respective partners is what bounds them.

It stars an ensemble cast headed by Daniela Romo, Claudia Álvarez, Julia Urbini, Valentina Buzzurro, David Zepeda, Juan Diego Covarrubias, and Emmanuel Palomares.

Overcoming Heartbreak was unveiled earlier in the year alongside the third instalment to Overcoming titled Overcoming The Past when the channel broadcast the first instalment to the franchise, Overcoming Fear.

Burden Of Guilt just like most TLNovelas soaps even the 3 announced shows joins DreamWorks Channel as one of the already seen already hashed content in various African markets. A date and time for this content will likely be mentioned close to their launch.

As it is the current offering on the channel is set to reach its climax but if I had to guess Head Over Heels replaces Simply Maria, Burden Of Truth replaces Malquerida, Overcoming Heartbreak replaces No One Like You and Giving Up My Life replaces Keeping My Family Together.

New Series Alert: Giving Up My Life Coming Soon To TLNovelas Africa

TLNovelas, Africa's only Mexican entertainment channel available in both Portuguese and English will be introducing a new family drama based on the 2016 Chilean telenovela of the same name titled Giving Up My Life (Te Doy La Vida) which months weeks after the announcement of Head Over Heels (De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero).

Nicolás is a six-year-old boy suffering from leukemia and to recover he needs a bone marrow transplant. In such a situation, the adoptive parents of the child, Elena and Ernesto will take on the task of searching for the biological father. Thus, they arrive at the mechanical workshop where Pedro works to expose the situation, at which point the young man learns that he had a son from a relationship years ago.

José Ron stars as Pedro Garrido, the biological father of Nicolás portrayed by Leonardo Herrera. Joining the trio in the latest escapades are Nicolás' adoptive parents Elena Villaseñor and Ernesto Rioja portrayed by Eva Cedeño and Jorge Salinas respectively.

Prior to Giving Up My Life's debut in TLNovelas, the family drama was beemed in parts of East Africa in 2021 on the newly launched Swahili telenovela channel Maisha Moto now the series renters the region but to English and Portuguese speaking audiences.

Giving Up My Life is expected to rollout on TLNovelas by October likely in place of Keeping My Family Together as Eva Cedeño is the lead star in both series and as seen with most telenovela channels like Telemundo a show is usually bound either by the theme or the fruits to its labour which is none other than Eva Cedeño.

New Series Alert: Mexican Ripoff Of Second Chance Titled Love To Death Rolling Out On StarTimes And Possible TLNovelas Africa

StarTimes, a Chinese electronic and media company which established a strong presence in Sub-Saharan Africa serving as a competitor to MultiChoice and Azam TV will soon to be rolling out the 2018 Mexican telenovela from Televisa titled Love To Death starring Angelique Boyer and Michel Brown.

Based on the 1992 telenovela En Cuerpo Ajeno, Love To Death (Amar A Muerte) is a complex story of destinies that intersect when a media mogul, Leon Carvajal, is stabbed on his wedding day, at the same time that an assassin, Macario "El Chino" Valdez, is executed in the electric chair. Leon is reincarnated in the body of El Chino Valdez and, in turn, El Chino's soul ends up in the body of a professor of anthropology, Beltran Camacho, who dies in a car accident. Now, each man will not only have to deal with a new body, but also adapt to a new soul.

Leon now in the body of El Chino leaves El Chino's family and immigrates to Mexico. Leon gets a new identity, Jacobo Reyes, and he begins to work as a driver in his home with the help of his best friend, Camilo. Leon/Jacobo is now trying to figure out who was responsible for his death, he also finds out his new young wife, Lucia, betrayed him with his most loyal friend, Johnny. His kids have problems of their own; his oldest daughter Eva is involved with a Drug Cartel, his son Guille does not want to work in his media company, and his youngest daughter Valentina is discovering her sexuality. He will take this second chance to fix the problems he never knew of. Starting by making Lucia fall in love with him so he could find out the truth about his death.

El Chino, now in Beltran's body, will have the opportunity to have a family. He will learn to be a good father and a good husband. He will also use this new body to his advantage to try to defeat the leaders of the drug cartel he worked for while in his original body. Beltran/Chino will also get help from a rip-off fortune teller woman who will receive powers to talk to the dead.

Trying to figure out why they are back in different bodies is not the only problem. Leon/Jacobo will have to avoid being discovered as El Chino Valdez by the police and the drug cartel. Beltran/Chino will have to find his body, Leon/Jacobo, and try to protect his real family from the cartel whom are after him.

They will begin to meet others who are just like them, reincarnated. They must find out their purpose and they will all be connected through a butterfly tattoo that extends and bleeds when they mess up.

Love To Death won't be the only Televisa production rolling out in the coming months even Head Over Heels makes a dash on TLNovelas.

New Series Alert: Another Good Twin/Bad Twin Series Launches In Africa On TLNovelas Titled Head Over Heels

Based on the 1999 Venezuelan telenovela Carita Pintada, Head Over Heels brings a Mexican twist to the classic drama series which aired in 2013 on Televisa's very own Canal Las Estrellas and beamed internationally through TLNovelas.

Natalia always surrounded by love; and she believed her future would get even better when she meets Diego seeing as love emerged instantly between them the moment they met. However, they never imagined that their lives would dramatically change because Rodrigo, Diego’s twin brother, was ready to do anything to get Natalia.

 

One night Natalia's life took an unexpected turn and has to flee, moving away from Diego without an explanation. After a while, destiny give them a new opportunity to live their love, but again they will have to face a series of conflicts, only to prove that love when it is for real, there is nothing impossible.

Livia Brito stars as the protagonist; Juan Diego Covarrubias stars as the dual protagonist/antagonist; Esmeralda Pimentel, Fabiola Guajardo, and first actor, Aarón Hernán, star as the antagonists; Cynthia Klitbo, Marcelo Córdoba, Marisol del Olmo, Gerardo Murguía and Carlos Ferro are the stellar performances.

The show is speculated to replace Keeping My Family Together when it concludes in September.

July is gearing up to be one of the most busiest months in telenovela history. Sure some of this content didn't come at the best time but point being made the options are expanding.

Here's a list of telenovelas coming in July:

- I'm On The Edge: Originally titled Beauty And The Beast follows Devi Chauhan, a woman who is married into a rival family by force. Her husband Adhiraj Rajawat resents her but she manages to win him over and bring out his otherwise hidden kindhearted nature. Otherwise no different to the novel of the same name. Airs everyday at 22:00.

- Kruispad: Explores the life of Irfan, an idealistic professor who is upset by his unfair dismissal and is trying to care for his sick son. As the doors close one by one, Irfan finds himself in the middle of a dark adventure that he can't escape. Premieres July 3rd at 19:30.

- Twice My Son In Law: Lee Jin-sook is a speaker on family happiness. However, she has a sad past. Years ago, she was kicked out of the house by her mother-in-law and was forced to be separated from her newborn daughter. An encounter with Hyeon-tae leads her to not only fall in love but meet her birth daughter.

- No One Like You: Ricardo and Toño are identical twin brothers leading different lifestyles were seperated at birth and a chance encounter lead them switch lives. Premieres July 4th at 16:30.

 

- In Die Ysterhand Se Greep: Yiğit is a successful businessman who does not believe in love. After being responsible for the accident that landed his wife, Iclal, in a coma, he denies her existence to survive emotionally. Their little boy, Mert, believes his mother is in heaven. Then Yiğit meets Nur and they fall in love. Unaware of Iclal, Nur agrees to marry Yiğit. Premieres July 4th at 17:30.

- Kind Van Die Noodlot: Defne and Kahraman Yorukman are wealthy - but childless. Their family rejects them and this drives Defne to find an alternative way to give her husband an heir: She decides to hire a surrogate mother to give birth to a child for them. Premieres July 4th at 20:00.

 

- Meet The Family: George Cruz is a 50 year old Hollywood screenwriter who is suffering a Midlife crisis under the shadow of his only success, the death of his mother, and his wife, Leticia, cheating on him. His frustration, loneliness, and feeling like a failure take him to Mexico where he meets Carmen Jurado, a Mexican singer that turns into his muse, artist, and great love. Premieres July 4th at 21:00.

- The Legend: The series follow a young man from Sinaloa, Mexico that became a legendary figure and defender of the people. Malverde had a troubled childhood as an orphan where he experienced the trials of war, danger and love as he amassed unexpected power. Premieres July 4th at 22:00.

- Die Vetroueling: Revolves around a veteran of Turkish special forces 'Celal Kün'. His life changes when his daughter is shot down in a celebratory event. After this tragedy, he tries to find the planners of this deadly event and joins his agency again. Premieres July 7th at 19:30.

New Series Alert: Who Is Who As TLNovelas Africa Welcomes Another Adaptation To The Chilean Classic Amores De Mercado Titled No One Like You

Amores De Mercado (Market Lovers) follows the life of identical twins Pedro Solís García and Rodolfo Ruttenmeyer Echeverria both portrayed by Álvaro Rudolphy where an encounter leads them to trade places and assume each other's identity and lifestyle.

The Chilean drama made its debut in August 2001 starring Álvaro Rudolphy, Ángela Contreras, Luciano Cruz-Coke, and Alejandra Fosalba. Since its debut, managed to gain so much popularity that 6 adaptations had been produced so far.

 

Out of all those adaptations 2 were manufactured by Telemundo, Amor Descarado (Barefaced Love, 2004) and Quién Es Quién (Who Is Who, 2015) which managed to air in Africa under the name If Only I Were You.

After 7 years (5 in Mexico), Amores De Mercado makes a comeback in Africa through the Mexican brand TelevisaUnivision's TLNovelas with the series Como Tú No Hay 2 (No One Like You) starring Adrián Uribe as the lead with Claudia Martin and Azela Robinson.

 

Remakes can be annoying and feel a bit repetitive at times and the handful that would probably watch No One Like You have a high tolerance level for such content or haven't viewed the version on Telemundo.

Despite my opinion on the show I'd say watch it don't rely on what other people's preferences who knows probably TLNovelas version is far superior to Telemundo's version and although being remake it's not like they'll do word for word.

Roundups #62: PremiumFree Launched A Mobile App, Begeertes Will Also Be Made Available To eExtra And TLNovelas Africa Welcomes New Series No One Like You

PremiumFree, a free-to-air satellite television by Africa XP which has been active in some parts of Africa from 2018 and last year in South Africa taking on the likes of eMedia's Openview platform had announced the launch of a mobile app.

Similar to the DStv app, its pretty much a carbon copy of the decoder offering a variety of channels with themes like hollywood movies, African movies and series, kids, telenovelas, sport, comedy, lifestyle, documentaries, faith and education.

 

 

PremiumFree is one of the only free-to-air brands in South Africa to offer a mobile app as South Africa as eMedia Investments has yet to launch such for the Openview platform but will likely leverage eVOD for a portion of that platform.

Just as you thought ePlesier would balance out the load of repeats amongst channels eMedia proved otherwise as a repeat of Begeertes makes its way to eExtra as a replacement to the third season of Doodsondes with fourth coming in August.

 

Ferhat a cold-blooded, emotionless and cruel man who is a shooter for his uncle and has a wounded past.Asli, is a naive female doctor who wishes to serve humanity. An unforgettable love will be experienced with these two contrasting characters.

The series airs 10 June at 11:30 on weekdays unfortunately only Openview and StarSat consumers will be able to view this content while DStv customers are welcome to stream it on eVOD.

An untimely fate

TLNovelas has picked up rights to the comedy drama No One Like You which is based on the Chilean drama Amores De Mercado which Telemundo also did a remake known as Quien Es Quien (If Only I Were You).

 

 

TLNovelas had also confirmed the launches of the second and final instalment of the Overcoming franchise Overcoming Heartbreak and Overcoming The Past but from the looks of it being viewers will have to wait a while longer for the series No One Like You.

Antonio, who currently works as a waiter, is known by everyone in the neighborhood as Toño. He likes to sing, dance and enjoy life. He dropped out of high school and likes to seduce women, without even thinking about falling in love with one of them and settling down. Toño goes buy a piece of costume jewelry as a birthday present for his mother. As he crosses an avenue, he stops for a moment and is strongly impressed to find a man who looks just like him. The man (Ricardo) looks at him just as impressed and none of them hears the horn of a speeding van that manages to avoid Toño but not Ricardo who is knocked unconscious. Toño is shocked as an ambulance arrives and takes the man away.

From this moment on, Ricardo's and Toño's lives utterly change, turning their world upside down.

No One Like You airs July 2nd at 16:30 CAT.

New Series Alert: Malquerida Coming Soon To TLNovelas Africa + Iron Rose Returns To Telemundo Africa

TLNovelas operated by TelevisaUnivision is a Mexican entertainment channel home to a variety of telenovelas such as Crown Of Tears and Simply Maria had announced the launch of a brand new series, Malquerida (A Malamada).

Malquerida is the story of Acacia, a beautiful young woman who has lost her father in a terrible accident when she was only a little child. She ignores that she will find in her stepfather one of the deadliest love triangles.

Acacia's mother, Cristina, suddenly becomes a widow, learning then that the hacienda is in heavy debt. Seeing no other solution, she decides the best thing to do is to sell it, despite the huge pain it gives her to lose her dead husband´s patrimony. It is right then that Esteban, a good-looking worker at the hacienda, offers his help to save the land which he dearly loves because he sees Cristina in it.

 

Esteban and Cristina boost the hacienda again. With the everyday sharing and their teamwork, their relationship grows into a beautiful love since Esteban has won Cristina´s heart. This hurts Acacia deeply because, being so young, she can´t get over her father´s dead, far less can she accept her mother is having a new relationship. Her disconformity is such that she tries to escape from the hacienda. Acknowledging Acacia´s feelings, her grandparents talk to Cristina so that her grandchild can move in with them while she manages to get past Alonso's dead.

Malquerida airs at 19:00 CAT from May 23rd.

StarTimes launched Telemundo's original series Iron Rose earlier in the year which starred Aracley Arambula and apparently Telemundo will start airing reruns of the show from April 28th replacing another series which the lead actress takes part in, The Boss.

Based on the life of Vicente Fernández, the series tells the story of the former Mexican musician rise to stardom. Having recorded more than 50 albums and contributing to more than 30 films. His repertoire consisted of rancheras and other Mexican classics.

Pablo Montero takes on the lead role when it airs on March 14th on Las Estrellas - a sister channel to TLNovelas.

New thriller series coming to Netflix, Pieces Of Her

Based on the novel of the same name, the series follows the story of Andy who is caught in a deadly mass shooting at a local diner. Moments later, she witnesses her mother, Laura, violently eliminating the threat with ease. As Andy begins to unravel her mother's actions on that very day, her perspective on their entire familial relationship takes a new turn. Soon after, figures from her mother's past reappear, and she is forced to escape. While on the journey, she attempts to piece together the remnants of truth that her mother buried long ago.

Euphoria returns for a third season in 2024

In February, it was announced that the popular drama series had been renewed for a third season, generating excitement amongst followers of the series. However, as the season 2 finale premiered, it was revealed that Euphoria won't return until 2024.

This wait will be made even more difficult thanks to that shocking season 2 finale, where Fezco's younger brother, Ash (Javon Walton), was killed by police as they raided his and Fezco's home. Meanwhile, many relationships were left up in the air, leaving fans to wonder the fate of couples like Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer) and Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney).

Euphoria fans previously had to wait almost three years between the first two seasons, after the COVID-19 pandemic delayed filming on season 2. However, the hiatus was broken up by two specials that aired in the winter of 2020-2021.

New Pinocchio which features A-list stars

In this thrilling, humorous take on the classic tale, the wooden hero is a skilled acrobat who performs stunts with his beloved horse, the wisecracking Tybalt. He runs off to join a circus, where he falls for the ringmaster's daughter Bella. But when Pinocchio learns the circus is a cover-up for robberies, he must stop the crime spree in order to save Bella-and hopefully become human. The whole family will love this magical adventure.

We finally got a break

Simply Maria was the first new series unveiled for the new year alongside two Portuguese series which at the time had no release dates. Then Overcoming Fear and Keeping My Family Together joined the lineup with release dates added beforehand.

While viewers have to wait another two months to view Overcoming Fear and Keeping My Family Together. Simply Maria will arrive much earlier than the two as the series is allocated in the slot currently reserved for Crown For Tears.

Crown Of Tears season finale will air on Sunday 10 April at 12:00 CAT and Simply Maria premieres at 17:20 CAT from Monday 11 April.

According to the info provided, other titles which might make air on the channel soon include Mujeres De Negro (Woman In Black) and Juro Que Te Amo (Oath Of Love).

Woman In Black follows the rich coastal town of Encino Blanco, three married couples spend the weekend at Coral Beach while their husbands go on their already traditional fishing trip on a yacht. Not far from the pier, the yacht suddenly explodes. Only chips remain on the surface. In seconds they lost their husbands, and they have to go on with their lives without them...just as they planned.

Oath Of Love follows Violeta Madrigal whose family lost their fortune by the people who previously seemed to love and respect them. Justino Fregoso is the most powerful of the Madrigal family's former friends, who made his fortune through shady deals that ended the stability of the Copper Company, owned by the family Madrigal.

Don Juan attends a party in the town, determined to make some money with his gamecock. He places a bet on it, but he loses before Isauro. He gets a debt that he can’t afford to pay, but Isauro takes advantage on the situation and offers him to call off his debt in exchange for his older daughter, María… and Don Juan takes his offer.

When she learns that she must move in with a man she doesn’t want to live with, María decides to leave her life behind and escape to the capital city. All she has there is her friend Pina, who helps her get a job as maid.

María works very hard, thus, when her birthday comes, Pina practically yanks her out to get distracted and celebrate her arrival to adulthood in Xochimilco. Alejandro meets her there; he gets mesmerized by her beauty and starts courting her.

Pina acknowledges her friend is falling in love with Alejandro and she introduces her to a young man whom she considers to be a better catch for her: Professor Cristóbal. He is a good-hearted man who teaches her how to read and write and, over time, he grows fond of her.

Meanwhile, Alejandro uses of promises that he is not planning to keep to take advantage of María’s innocence. She never had a boyfriend before, so she surrenders to him. CONFIRMED: TLNovelas Africa Expected To Air The Female Led Drama Overcoming Fear From The Overcoming Franchise Alongside Family Based Drama Keeping My Family Together

A few weeks ago, it was reported the popular Mexican brand had picked up rights to 3 series with Simply Maria being the only confirmed title for English viewers but that all changes starting now.

TLNovelas has picked up Overcoming Fear (Vencer El Miedo) a story of four women of different ages, whose lives will revolve around social and family issues such as teenage pregnancy, sexual harassment and gender violence.

The cast include Paulina Goto, Danilo Carrera, Emmanuel Palomares, Arcelia Ramírez, Alberto Estrella, and Jade Fraser.

Also joining Overcoming Fear is the family oriented series based on the Korean drama What Happens To My Family? called Keeping My Family Together (¿Qué Le Pasa A Mi Familia?).

The series follows Regina Rueda an executive assistant to the president of a major clothing and footwear company. Due to a sentimental failure, she does not believe in love. Patricio Iturbide director of one of the most important fashion and footwear companies in Mexico. Upon meeting Regina, Patricio's life takes a big turn, leading him to live a love story with her.
