Skemertyd: How e.tv Plans To Replace Isiphetho And 18:30 Going Forward?
Kuiertyd Moves 30 Minutes Later As Isiphetho Bites The Dust
Last year, it was confirmed by the free-to-air broadcaster that Isiphetho would be getting the boot on the channel following its dismal rollout on the channel. It will not be replaced with another series instead e.tv will be moving Kelders Van Gehieme and a bunch of its other Afrikaans shows to a later timeslot to occupy Isiphetho.
Rebroadcasts of Gelukbringers will broadcast on e.tv at 16:30 followed by simultaneous broadcasts with eExtra of new episodes of Annekan Die Swa Kry at 17:30 and Kelders Van Gehieme at 18:30. Thereafter new episodes of Gelukbringers airs at 19:00 followed by Doodsondes at 20:00, Op Dun Ys at 21:00 and Vierspel Vuurspel at 22:00.
If one had to guess, eMedia Investments is likely trying to rid themselves of 18:30 and prioritising 19:00 and 21:00 home to shows like House Of Zwide and Smokes & Mirrors. Previous entrants such as Nikiwe and Durban Gen struggled to garner much buzz due to existing competition from SABC 1.
Kelders Van Gehieme's move to 18:30 likely stemmed from several theories one of which less competition as the only other competitor KykNet is on DStv. Another is viewership, eMedia Investments probably feels the move will lead to increased viewership especially now that Skeem Saam has reverted to a much later timeslot.
These changes are set to take effect on 7th April 2025.
Major Restructuring Coming Soon
Last year, Google squeezed thousands of websites out of their search algorithms leaving them to go out of business if not scale back on content. As mentioned, we were one of those affected sites as we watch our traffic plummet in top tier countries and shift toward smaller tier markets.
Trust me when I say the struggle is devastating as a publisher to started out in the mid 2010s having all your recent content garner little noticeability while those you ranked on get snatched. It's one of the reasons I'm writing this announcements to all our faithful readers.
As we mentioned, there's other platforms (like YouTube) where our content continues to garner scale so we'll be moving some content. The remainder will still be distributed on the site but overtime it could garner scale elsewhere leading us to redirect them those platforms.
To keep everyone in the loop, we'll be attaching links across the site to the platforms we're engaging in.
