We produce original, short form, African content. It ranges from stand-up comedy, sitcoms, drama, mini documentaries to talk shows. We then deliver our shows through our website. Each one of our episodes is about ten minutes long. Our content focuses on authentic African stories.

They reflect the lives, cultures, languages, aspirations, hopes and frustrations of Africans. Our viewers can either pay per view, pay per show or subscribe monthly. Some of our content can be watched for free, with ads in between. Although I started the company about two years ago, we only went live towards the end of October 2019.

As we generate awareness around our brand, we've made our content accessible free of charge. We are looking to direct traffic to our website before we can commercialise our content.

Prediction: TLNovelas Gets A Name Change Amidst The Merger Between Univision And The Parent Company Televisa + Batch Of Programming Coming To Telemundo Africa And More Zee World Channels

Is the TLNovelas brand name done for?

Last year, it was reported Televisa and Univision would merge to form a new company Televisa-Univision. This merger would see their properties consolidate under one hub.

Televisa-Univision offer linear channels with some markets housing both brands separately while others package one of two. The question dives down to the fate to the linear offering globally.

Before the merger, Univision offered a customised station for Televisa soaps known as Univision TLNovelas. Now that they'll be a single entity perhaps this brand could become a reruns channel with further content moving to Univision while others house the branding.

Univision TLNovelas or vice versa makes a suitable name as the company couldn't think of a much better name than TLNovelas Univision. To be honest, I'd much rather have them use Prende TV as the name for their linear channels.

Keep feeling the passion with Telemundo

Telemundo continues its tough journey ahead following the switch to 7 days a week. The brand has been sourcing out content that not only entertains viewers but keeps their schedule occupied.

In 2022, the channel might welcome originals like Buscando A Frida (The Search For Frida), Parientes A La Fuerza (Family By Force), Pasión de Gavilanes (Hidden Passions) and Preso No. 1 (Prisoner No. 1) alongside new seasons of Operation Pacific and Queen Of The South.

Acquired series include Café Con Aroma De Mujer (Coffee With A Woman's Fragrance/Scent Of Passion) and Enfermeras (Nurses).

REPEEEEEEEATS!!!

As seen last year, we got more repeats than new shows but Telemundo doesn't let that dominate their schedule. Possible returns for the channel include Broken Angel, Almost Yours, The Son I Never Knew, Elena's Ghost, On The Other Side Of The Wall and Price Of Fame.

Super series likely to make a comeback include Prisoners Of Love, Lord Of The Skies and El Baron.

365 days a year and 7 days a week

Since its inception, Zee World has grown to be a trailblazer with their Bollywood offering. It's success further boasted the portfolio with the launches of Zee Alem and the knockoff Zee One.

Several years back, the parent company of these channels expressed ideas of launching regional channels as seen with Zee Alem and not long ago they expanded their offering in Africa.

Zee Alem caters for Ethiopians and seeing that Africa is a diverse market perhaps we could see more of this in Portuguese, French, Zulu and Swahili speaking markets.

While MultiChoice Portuguese section remains as an Iceland. Indian subscribers got WION and Zee Cinema perhaps we could even see channels like Zing or Zee One make their way to the platform.

Will StarSat Replace The Smithsonian Channel And Love Nature?

Two years ago, StarSat replaced National Geographic and WILD with ViacomCBS's The Smithsonian Channel and Blue Ant Media's Love Nature as they were trying to patch these up with National Geographic's owners, The Walt Disney Company.

National Geographic and WILD returned a year after that incident and right until November 2021 they were beefing with their supposed replacements.

MultiChoice went through the same experience with A+E Networks even though they lost a couple tooth. Viewers are still able to access their offering alongside the additional resources.

Unfortunately that's no longer the case with StarSat, viewers across the world have lost several channels and not all of them were fortunate enough to be replaced. The same case passes them and MultiChoice.

In regards to replacements, don't hold your breath it's not the matter of the brand as seen they've lost several channels but these two channels weren't considered newcomers but placeholders.

If they were the last man on earth I could have thought otherwise. At the moment, the only miracle would be seeing something like People's Weather which combines the concepts of these channels.

ViacomCBS International End Transmission For Paramount Network In The UK, Could More Markets Follow?

4 years ago, ViacomCBS introduced Paramount Network as a premium, general entertainment channel carrying "bold original scripted and non-scripted series" like Heathers, Yellowstone, First Wives Club, Lip Sync Battle, Ink Master and Bar Rescue.

At the time, Paramount Network president of development Keith Cox said that Paramount Network is going to be famous for big bold originals. We want to make linear TV urgent again." Now the brand is set to be replaced by 5Action in the UK.

Paramount+ launch in the market could have some involvement as both brands are similar to some extent and ViacomCBS may not want to see that for any of their stations going forward.

NBCUniversal International has its own streaming service Peacock and the offering varies immensely with their linear stations and it seems like ViacomCBS is working toward that for the time being.

Comedy Central is currently described as the animation brand for adults while their linear stations continue with live sitcoms.

Although, Paramount Network may not be available in South Africa or the rest of Africa and ViacomCBS doesn't plan to pull a Disney under our heads. There has however been some minor adjustments within their portfolio.

MTV Europe division became MTV Global and even kids division Nickelodeon went through the same phase. Even though, there's no terminations set in site for these brands that doesn't exclude any possibility of a reduction or as they put it streamlining.

More Insidus Games And An Update To Social Media Links

(new features for desktop users)
This past week, readers may have noticed that I uploaded the popular java game Johnny Bravo's Big Babe Adventure to android devices. As stated in the new features, the plan is to expand from my initial offering.

If you look up on the Insidus site, I took off the site's description as it doesn't co-ordinate with this new offering I have planned.

Games is the 1st of few plans I have for this site. At some point, I could conduct some reviews and quiet frankly recommend some games you could try out.

For now, I'll just continue to distribute android games to this site. Unlike most sites, the games will be coming in small sizes some of which could be based on a java game.

I don't own any of the games here and my initial plan was to release games separately but since it's the festive season I thought of giving readers two additional games:

The Adventures Of Lolo - Adventures of Lolo is a puzzle video game released in 1989 by HAL Laboratory for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a compilation of puzzles from Eggerland: Meikyū no Fukkatsu and Eggerland: Sōzō he no Tabidachi.

Wolfman By Namco - based of the recent movie featuring Benicio Del Toro and friends by Universal Pictures. You play as both Lawrence Talbot and The Wolfman in this game, both offering you a selection of unique abilities.

Other developments:

Recently signed up to Lnk.Bio and according to some readers. They couldn't share my work through the relevant sites so Link Bio is the solution.

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will also be found under one link I'll share across several articles if you feel that you want to share something or follow me through other sites.

New Movie Alert: Rocket Boy - An Inspiring South African Story

(new features for desktop users)
Inspiring stories have the power to ignite a flame of hope in our lives that lights up the future. They help us explain our shared experiences of perseverance, triumph and change, and offer meaning and community in darker days. Planned to go into production towards the end of February 2022, Rocket Boy is a story so inspiring it is sure to capture the hearts of the world.

Produced by founder, executive producer and owner of Coal Stove Pictures - Wandile Molebatsi - Rocket Boy follows the uniquely African narrative of an exciting young black scientist Siyabulela Xuza who won The Order of the Baobab. This prestigious presidential award is given for outstanding innovation and distinguished service. The narrative centres around his journey of developing a low-cost form of rocket fuel and the obstacles and victories that he walked through.

“For me, this film is a celebration of African excellence. We forget that our continent has incredible stories of triumph and joy and that Africans have achieved remarkable things despite the heartache of some of our histories,” says Wandile.

It is Wandile’s quest in life to see more stories that shape a positive narrative of Africa like Rocket boy on our screens. He knows from working in the industry for decades that the talent of African creatives and writers is already internationally renowned.  The key rests in making sure that investors can see our Film & High-End TV sector as bankable.

According to Wandile, if more local stories are to have their time to shine in the limelight there needs to be more buy-in from international investors and an easier way to connect African filmmakers to the international market. A turn-key option of how to secure financiers and finance models need to be made available to producers as ethically grounded in sharing the African narrative.

“Telling stories like Rocket Boy reminds me that being a South African producer can be such a privilege. One that is tough but absolutely worth it,” says Wandile.

Covid has had a massive impact on the way filmmaking and production is done in South Africa. While more obvious health and safety issues like budgeting for Covid Tests and having Covid Medics onset have been publicised, the evolution of the creative process during pre-production in South Africa has not been given credit.

Heads of the Department are learning how to share creative visions and schedules via online platforms, WhatsApp groups have become the new normal, and the lockdowns have taught film crews to respect the set more than ever before and cherish the power of collective collaboration.

“The industry has changed so much and I think more than anything, we have all learnt that teamwork makes the dream work. I know that is cheesy but the lengths that South African film professionals go through to make sure that projects are a success continuously makes me grateful for the people on my team. It reminds me that people are beyond essential to achieving any dream,” says Wandile.

The reality is that the energy and drive in the industry is buzzing and spreading to every corner of the country, not just in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Our local creatives hunger to be problem solvers has increased with the democratization of access to and power of

platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram allowing creators to find refreshing ways to tell their stories.

After a long journey of taking the Rocket Boy project as far afield as Toronto and Cannes, Wandile couldn’t be happier that the film found its home with AAA Entertainment who have a passion for enabling African content to have an international impact.

Rocket Boy is an amazing opportunity to project a very African narrative of hope and optimism into an international audience currently exposed to a lot of negativity surrounding South Africa. Through this film and its captivating and transformational story, we showcase the strength of the African stories to shape how audiences around the world perceive our prosperity.
