Reminder: Ikhaya Lezimanga Premieres August 21st On Zee Zonke

Ikhaya Lezimanga (Anna) is an Indian Tamil-language television series produced by Rajammal Creations, starring Senthil Kumar and Nithya Ram in the lead roles. The serial is based on the bond between an elder brother and his 4 younger sisters.

Synopsis for Ikhaya Lezimanga

The plot revolves around Shanmugan, a loving brother who raises his four younger sisters with the utmost care, as well as his dad (as he is a drunkard). However, he is over-protective, and doesn't realise that the girls have their own dreams and aspirations in life and sees marriage as the end goal in life. On the other hand, you have Bharani who dislikes her house due to parental pressure and disapproval of her love with Shanmugan. How Shanmugan unites with Bharani, as well as how he takes care of the four sisters is the central plot.

The series also revolves around how his sisters manage their paternal and in laws relations. And the focus on how Issaki and Muthupandi's relationship evolve and thus help him rectify and establish himself in the righteous path while finding love with Issaki.

It premiered on Zee Tamil on May 22, 2023 with over 700+ episodes starring Senthil Kumar in a dual role as Shanmugam and Nithya Ram as Dr. Bharani Shanmugam. Other members include STP Rosary as Vaikundam, Sunitha as Ratna and Preetha Suresh as Isakki Ammal.

Since it's inception, Zee TV has produced several adaptations including Telugu as Maa Annayya, Marathi as Lakhat Ek Aamcha Dada, Kannada as Annayya and Bengali as Amader Dadamoni.

Ikhaya Lezimanga airs daily at 23:00 from 18 August on Zee Zonke.

MSNBC To Change Name To MS NOW Under Versant

MSNBC will change its name to My Source News Opinion World (MS NOW) and unveil a new logo later this year as part of the cable news channel’s spinoff from the Comcast-owned media company NBCUniversal.

Comcast announced last year that it would spin off most of its cable television networks into a separate publicly traded company called Versant. The new company will include MSNBC and the financial news channel CNBC as well as the USA Network, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and the Golf Channel.

The branding changes represent Versant’s emphasis on “building our individual identity and vision for the future while laying a foundation for the continued growth and success of our businesses,” Versant CEO Mark Lazarus said in a memo to staff Monday morning.

“The peacock is synonymous with NBCUniversal, and it is a symbol they have decided to keep within the NBCU family,” Lazarus said. “This gives us the opportunity to charge our own path forward, create distinct brand identities, and establish an independent news organization following the spin.”

MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler said the network will not change editorial direction as it builds out its own newsgathering operation entirely separate from NBC News. (MSNBC launched in 1996 as a joint venture between NBC News and Microsoft.)

“While our name will be changing, who we are and what we do will not,” Kutler said in an internal memo. “Our commitment to our work and our audiences will not waiver from what the brand promise has been for three decades.”

The rebrand will be accompanied by a national marketing campaign “unlike anything we have done in recent memory,” Kutler said.

CNBC, for its part, will keep the acronym “Consumer News and Business Channel” but will debut a new logo without the peacock.

Comcast will retain NBCUniversal assets such as the NBC broadcast network, NBC News, NBC Sports, the streaming platform Peacock and the cable brand Bravo.

Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon’s current last live-action series is returning to the screen with a new season, while the Loud family and Hazel are also getting into new adventures. At the end of the month, we will also welcome Jack and Lily's family to the channel.

On the first day of September, there will be a surprise premiere batch, as the Fairy OddParents: New Wish continues its single season. The next ten episodes will air daily in the early evening on the channel.

After Hazel and her fairies, Phoebe, Max, and Chloe will take over in the new episodes of The Thundermans: Undercover. The superhero trio returns with more struggles and sibling squabbles, which currently means the end of the first season of the series, followed immediately by the start of the second season. Paramount split the originally planned 26-episode first season in half, so the second season of The Thundermans: Undercover has already started. The new episodes will last for two weeks, but that will be more than enough because by the end of the month, two more shows will be on offer from Nick.

Let’s start with the continuation of The Loud House, which actually begins on the same day as the premiere of the new series. The originally 22-minute episodes will be split again, with an 11-minute segment airing every weekday. In this series, we are ahead of the Americans, and in fact, the ninth season is almost finishing here, while in the U.S., it hasn’t even started yet. The new series mentioned earlier, which is placed after The Loud House premieres, is called Wylde Pak. The series first aired in May on the Nicktoons YouTube channel, and in early June, it was broadcast on the American Nickelodeon.

A new era begins for Nick Jr. starting in September with a range of new shows in the lineup. Right at the beginning of the month, Dora Season 3 continues, although this time it will air at a different time than usual. Starting from the 1st, the premieres will air in the early evening instead of the usual morning slots. The second half of the season will be broadcast, but the Christmas episode is planned to air in a late-night slot. 

In the second half of the month, new episodes of PAW Patrol will arrive. With this batch, Season 11 will be complete—except for a holiday special. Episodes of the series will air on weekday afternoons. And now, we can look forward to Season 12!

Finally, a brand-new series will debut at the end of September. *T-Rex Tim*, his younger brother *Tommy*, sister *Tia*, and their best friend, a triceratops named *Kai*, solve childhood problems with dinosaur-sized solutions in outer space! The show will launch with ten episodes at the end of September, so there will definitely be plenty to watch in October.

Nicktoons 

After a long break, The Loud House returns to Nicktoons with new adventures.

The last time The Loud House was featured on Nicktoons was back in December 2024, when the eighth season premiered. Although it's one of Nickelodeon’s flagship titles, it seems that lately Nick has been neglecting—or worse, letting go of—this series, especially as the number of their shows continues to shrink. And calling it "neglect" isn't an exaggeration: even after all this time, American Nickelodeon is still behind compared to our local Nicktoons, which in September will finally catch up with the main domestic channel. However, one area where the U.S. always stays ahead is The Patrick Star Show, which began airing its fourth season back in March. Here, the season debuted in June, and now in September, Nicktoons will broadcast the first five episodes as well.

Play Room Acquires Broadcasting Rights To Lego City Adventures + Makes Several Schedule Adjustments

Some consumers may have noticed that aside from Play Room Live being reduced to half an hour with its Reloaded offering on weekends scrapped. Play Room also reduced and yanked away a bunch of shows from its lineup like Batwheels, Nicky Ricky Dicky And Dawn and Iron Man: Armoured Adventures.

With its movie offering being the only major booster as there's been a lot of adult favoured films such as Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm, Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage The Cowardly and Spider-Man Across The Spiderverse.

We can only assume that similar to eToonz, Ngwato Nkosi Group who manage the channel are currently reviewing it's lineup and most likely making minor budget cuts. Take for instance, Play Room Live being a half hour show we can only assume the show is not financially liable.

That's what happened with Hectic Nine 9 on SABC 2, now the program went from airing 5 days a week for an hour to 2/3 days a week for half an hour.

Another has to do with the dubbed animated content on their channel. Play Room had garnered traction for the dubbing shows like Cocomelon and Supa Strikas yet they've moved at a rather slow pace in allocating more episodes to these titles so I wouldn't be surprised if they opted to source from third parties.

From Monday 18 August, Play Room is set to allocate a new animated series LEGO City Adventures.

LEGO City Adventures explores the intertwining paths of the city's everyday heroes as they work together to stop a mysterious master criminal who begins to wreak havoc on their town.

Citizens of LEGO City featured throughout the series include: Sergeant Duke DeTain (Joe Zieja, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4), an overly heroic cop; Freya McCloud (Misty Lee, DC Super Hero Girls), a crisis-ready fire chief; Shirley Keeper (Alex Cazares, The Loud House), the grumpy street sweeper; Harl Hubbs (Daniel MK Cohen, Fixed), an overeager handyman; Tippy Dorman (James Arnold Taylor, Star Wars: The Clone Wars), an expert doorman with a secret; Solomon Fleck (Roger Craig Smith, Avengers Assemble), the dedicated city mayor; Percival “Wheelie” Wheeler (Mick Lauer, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal), a skateboarding police chief and more.
