Could Adventure Time: Side Quests, Go-Go Mystery Machine, Foster's Funtime For Imaginary Friends And Hey BMO Be Shipped To Other Broadcasters?

Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to split into two separate companies with the studios forming part of Warner Bros. and the cable networks being Discovery Global by April 2026. This deal is expected to alter the structure of Cartoon Network and Cartoonito as it folds under Discovery Global.

A few months ago, Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe unveiled a new animated show, The Wonderfully Weird World Of Gumball which is a spin-off to The Amazing World Of Gumball. The show is slated to air on Cartoon Network in the coming months but prior to that the first 20 episodes were made available on Hulu.

If anyone understands what this restructure between Warner Bros. and Discovery suggests Cartoon Network will be that channel for Warner Bros. sloppy seconds. With Discovery Global being bloated with debt, they obviously don't have the financial capacity to fund shows like The Wonderfully Weird Of Gumball.

This means upcoming shows like Adventure Time: Side Quests, Go-Go Mystery Machine, Foster's Funtime For Imaginary Friends And Hey BMO will likely be shipped off to Netflix, Paramount+, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.

Warner Bros. being an independent entity means it can also do business with the likes of Paramount and Disney who offer rivalled stations Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Cartoon Network in essence wouldn't even be considered competition.

Cartoon Network alongside Nickelodeon and Disney Channel formed part of the big 3 for its stellar lineup of kids content. With Disney Channel and Nickelodeon picking Cartoon Network apart through a Hulu distribution agreement and a potential buyout it lessens competition.

Canal+ Afrique Amidst It's Parent Company Acquiring MultiChoice Is Looking To Debut Canal+ Magic Soon

MultiChoice has a few regulatory hurdles to clear through before Canal+ can make its mandatory offer to shareholders. This includes getting approval regarding the carve out (LicenceCo) from ICASA with partners 13th Avenue Investments, Identity Partners Itai Consortium and the Workers Trust.

Amidst this, the French African broadcaster Canal+ Afrique will be allocating another TV channel, Canal+ Magic. Not much is known about the channel but it's been speculated that MultiChoice and M-Net are involved with its distribution in the region.

Magic is a trademark that both MultiChoice and M-Net have used to curate local content as seen with Mzansi Magic (South Africa) and Africa Magic (Nigeria). Canal+ aside from corporate standpoint serves as a division of channels including Canal+ Premiere and Canal+ Cinema.

MultiChoice and M-Net's possible involvement in Canal+ Magic wouldn't seem far fetched as they've already curated content for consumers in Ethiopia (Amharic) and Angola (Portuguese). Canal+ had stated that a merged entity would make them "an entertainment leader in Africa".

It could as well mean curating content for consumers in markets MultiChoice has minimal presence. They also want to use this deal as a means to bulk up against the likes of streamers like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.

The Real Housewives Of Lagos has been unveiled as one of the upcoming series for the channel alongside another series called Un Diner Parfait. Taking this to account, Canal+ Magic could as well be the name of some reality and lifestyle infused channel or replacement to Canal+ Elles.

News about Canal+ Magic's inclusion comes after reports of SuperSport rebranding it's Football Plus channel seen in some parts of Africa to match of Canal+ (Football Plus Canal+).

Could Paramount Skydance Pursuit Of Warner Bros. Discovery Become Another Disney/FOX?

According to Wall Street Journal, Paramount Global following its recent tie up with Skydance Media is looking to make a bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. This is before the merged entity split to form Warner Bros. and Discovery Global in April 2026.

News of a merger like this first began in 2023 of course it was Warner Bros. Discovery that was sinking it's teeth into Paramount Global. Of course, several insiders had mentioned that the company's CEO David Zaslav wasn't in a negotiating mood which could as well be what's befallen Paramount.

Then again, Skydance through Oracle has the cash to swallow up Warner Bros. Discovery and this would amount to $65 billion from what sources indicate. Of course, the deal should it happen would face intensive scrutiny especially by the FCC and the European Commission.

Even if Paramount Global were to offer such a large sum there's no guarantees that Warner Bros. Discovery will accept the offer as shareholders could hold out in the hopes to get more money. At the same time with Warner Bros. Discovery being almost $40 billion in debt this would be a great escape for shareholders.

As mentioned, this deal should it be happen and get the greenlight from regulators they'll likely impose certain conditions. And I assume Paramount Global is aware of the repercussions and is likely not looking to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery to its entirety.

When Disney acquired FOX certain conditions were imposed because FOX offered a rival brand National Geographic this led to them selling their stake in Hearst Networks in Europe. Same goes for the FOX and FOX Sports network, because Disney didn't rival with these brands outside the US they were granted ownership.

Because FOX Corporation still continues to operate independently and own these trademarks, Disney had to phase out the FOX trademark from various of their assets. And if Paramount Global was able to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery we can only assume this deal will exclude a majority of Turner's Networks.

Turner's Networks would comprise of Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Cartoonito, CNN, TNT, TBS, TNT Sports and Warner TV. If they were able to acquire these assets it may involve divesting in other assets such as Comedy Central, CBS News, Nickelodeon and Showtime.
