Adult Swim Reveals Rick And Morty Season Six Southern Africa Premiere Date

Adult Swim, the leader in adult animation, announced today that the two-time Emmy® Award-winning comedy series Rick and Morty will premiere globally and across the multiverse, starting on Sunday, 4 September at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. Rick and Morty enthusiasts across southern Africa can catch the new season from Monday, 5 September, just 24 hours after the US premiere, on Netflix.

“It’s hard to overstate the impact of Rick and Morty. More than a hit show, it is truly a global phenomenon,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim and Cartoon Network. “As we prepare to launch this soon-to-be iconic season, we will be giving fans a unique way to be part of the fun – so keep your eyes peeled.”

Rick and Morty was the #1 comedy across all cable in 2017, 2019, and 2021 and has been in the Top 10 watched list on HBO Max since its launch. Lifetime to date, Rick and Morty has been viewed over 10B times globally, across linear, digital, and streaming.

Rick and Morty is the Emmy® Award-winning half-hour animated hit comedy series on Adult Swim that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Rick Sanchez is living with his daughter Beth’s family and constantly bringing her, his son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Summer, and grandson Morty into intergalactic escapades.

It’s season six, and Rick and Morty are back! Pick up where we left them, worse for wear and down on their luck. Will they manage to bounce back for more adventures? Or will they get swept up in an ocean of pee! Who knows?! Pee! Family! Intrigue! A bunch of dinosaurs! More pee! Another can't-miss season of your favourite show.

Rick and Morty stars Justin Roiland (Solar Opposites), Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live), and Spencer Grammer (Greek). The series is created by Dan Harmon (Community) and Roiland, who also serve as executive producers.

Reruns Graveyard: Hustlers + Voƫlvry + Wrede Stad + Verdeelde Liefde Coming Soon To e.tv

For several months, e.tv South Africa's independent free-to-air channel on top of most watched English network has been loading up on repeats following the addition of local content which led to a cutback in international series on weeknights.

Honestly the lineup is an absolute mess as Craze has suffered the same effect as most of the primetime is currently viewable on eToonz through the Openview platform. Even the movies has been reduced to ashes imagine primetime on eMovies.

At least with eToonz, the primetime is noticable and I'm not saying eMovies sucks but considering how often "new" is advertised across their portfolio it can be irritating to often browse your TV Guide and distinguishing between premiere and repeat if new can be left in the dark.

I know e.tv has reasons for making these adjustments who can blame them as MultiChoice has seen a further cut of premium international channels as their suppliers want to function independently. Although eMedia never had these brands content was very much accessible.

In the end, it's not over and out for e.tv as the channel had inherited various content from the other e.tv channels with most of it from eExtra but point being made there's still something to watch even though it's not what some would find as a delight especially on the Openview platform.

Here are 4 shows set to air on the channel between 2022/3:

1. Hustlers

Set in Johannesburg, we follow fading superstar Kitt Khambule, who crashes and burns at her comeback concert. Broke and desperate she goes on the run to avoid creditors. Back home and licking her wounds, she takes street urchins Baby and Thuli through a journey, which eerily mirrors her own, to the height of stardom.

The series is set to replace The Blacklist at 22:00 from 5 September.

2. Voëlvry

Kuzgun's family life changes completely as a result of the caliper held against his father, who is a police officer. Kuzgun will fall into a bondage, pain, anger, and struggle that will last 20 years. Kuzgun is a mafia-style crime drama that tells the story of the Bilgin and Cebeci families.

The series is set to replace Vierspel Vuurspel at 23:00 from 7 September.

3. Wrede Stad

Aired on eExtra last year, Follows the life of Seher and his children. When Seher and Agah make an encounter, the lives of their families become complicated as tension and scandal arises between the two families.

The series is rumoured to replace As Die Skoen Pas.

4. Verdeelde Liefde

Caught between two families, Zeynep was born in the slums and raised by a rich family. Living in bad conditions, her family give her up for adoption in exchange for money. In the mist of her struggles she meets Mehdi.

Currently streaming on eVOD and will be accessible by next year as a replacement to the fourth season of Doodsondes.
