New Channel Alert: Qwest TV Will Also Be Made Available To Stream On Showmax

In September, MultiChoice held a showcase where they unveiled several new content for their consumers. Alongside those developments came two new channels, Moonbug Kids and Qwest TV of which one is still awaiting release on the pay-tv platform.

Founded by Quincy Jones, Qwest TV is a jazz skewed destination celebrating the life of millenniums through concerts, documentaries and interviews. It works as a multimedia outlet as it comes with its own streaming service for which the linear channel sources it content.

For several months despite no channel, MultiChoice has been promoting various content for Qwest TV but from the looks of it their teams get the time allocation mixed up you find yourself promoting February 2022 when it should write October.

But from what's clear in this documents is that the channel will likely arrive by early 2023 and it's all thanks to Showmax as they have the first quarter of 2022 panned out for Qwest TV.

Interesting to note, MultiChoice never mentioned that Qwest TV was aligned to their digital approach kind of like newcomer Moonbug Kids which too bundles itself on Showmax. I mean it kind of makes sense considering how their last attempt at Jazz turned out.

From the looks of things it's possible MultiChoice is hellbent on making Qwest TV succeed where VH1, MTV Hits and BET Jazz all of which hail from Paramount Global failed to do so.

The three mentioned brands (probably BET Jazz) were as relevant internationally as seen with Qwest TV but all took the plunge. So who knows maybe this time around things will be different with Showmax tagging along regardless I stopped relying on DStv for music.

Why Novela Magic Is Being Snatched From DStv Customers In South Africa?

Novela Magic was Africa's first attempt at a storytelling channel geared for viewers in Africa and I know the channel won't be killed off entirely but it is going off air in South Africa so I have every right to refer it to it in the past tense.

As it is the channel has a few days left and there's been nothing but absolute silence probably because MultiChoice didn't bother put up a termination notice so viewers will be stunned when they find channel 165 is blocked thinking account payment or technical issues when in fact it was snatched.

An early overview of the channel revealed it would source their content from Mzansi Magic, kykNET, Africa Magic and further local channels from M-Net. From what was understood about the channel it took its content mainly from the latter three.

While as brands like Maisha Magic, Pearl Magic, Abol TV and Zambezi Magic are still trying to build their offering for Novela Magic so it could explain why it is being snatched from DStv customers and Paramount's channels were used to compensate the affected viewers.

While as Easyview has Magic Showcase and other customers higher than Family have the latter three channels Access customers are just short with 1 channel being Africa Magic.

It's amazing how consumers on this package are up-to-date with Nigeria's Big Brother and Idols while SA's adaptations come with a bigger price tag. Now history is repeating itself but this time with the West African content taking a plunge.

Magic Showcase which is being used for leverage has a ton of content from the channel but MultiChoice opted to exclude the channel without taking to account the amount of unseen content on the package including Legacy and My Kitchen Rules SA.

Is Mzansi Wethu ever going to get any of the above-mentioned shows if Mzansi Magic has its own baggage to worry about?

From what was understood as mentioned earlier, Novela Magic is how you see Moja 9.9. on Moja Love - repeats. But the moment the channel starts reducing the amount of Mzansi Magic or Africa Magic it's very much possible for MultiChoice to reconsider.

At the same time, I feel that it would be best for Mzansi Wethu to pull a kykNET with their Turkish offering it but this time distribute a number of content from M-Net's local channels and scrap Mzansi Music and that outdated kids block for which kykNET & Kie had restructured.

I mean the channel is accessible to Premium clients so all the more sense to have it restructured. If anyone wants kids shows tune into JimJam and Mzansi Music already has a dedicated channel which you can pour your heart's content.

Hip-Hop 411 Is Bringing The House Down On PremiumFree TV

It's been a while since the Openview competitor has made any headlines. The last anyone got an update had to do with its launch in South Africa alongside the mishap of the allocation of their channels to rivaling outlet.

Now we've recieved word from our sources that a new music destination Hip-Hop 411 will make a landing to PremiumFree and become the exclusive home to all their content.

Founded by Lwazi Nonyukela, Hip-Hop 411 is a black owned production agency which produces content for television in this case ones that idolize the genre. From what 411 suggests, they set out to be trendsetters with news and other updates on your favourite stars.

Some celebs the brand promote include Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, A-Reece and so forth.

Hip-Hop 411 is said to be folded under Pulse TV but with the amount of content you'd see here you'd expect more but it's not like PremiumFree TV does duplications as they rather pull an eExtra and cram as much content onto one channel as opposed launching a channel with a similar concept.

GBA: Nicktoons - Freeze Frame Frenzy

Characters from many Nickelodeon worlds have been misplaced into each other's worlds. Jimmy Neutron's mission is to fix the situation. He sends out Danny Phantom, Arnold Shortman, SpongeBob SquarePants, Tommy Pickles, Otto Rocket, and Timmy Turner to take photos of the misplaced characters with his new invention, the "Neutrino-Cam 4000", a camera that also functions as a teleporter, which will send them back to their own worlds.

Recap: A Look At Some Of The Changes Made To The Website

Entertainment Inside Us (Insidus) has conducted several experiments over the past few months and after almost a year we can now say we're 80% complete with some of the adjustments made toward our site in an attempt to make it mobile friendly.

We also updated some tags in case you're wondering where they were placed.

- DStv Highlights rebranded to become DStv Flex, based on an unbundled platform which has yet to launch. This label is based on content coming toward several DStv channels.
- Openview Highlights rebranded to become Openview+, based on an upcoming pay-tv service of course this one is meant to offer updates on content.
- Telenovela Highlights rebranded into Everyday Novelas, based on the first blog I followed regarding Portuguese telenovelas titled Everyday Novelas Africa. What I basically do here is report on a variety of telenovelas from across the world.
- General Highlights rebranded into Google basically this is for various content outside of the above-mentioned tags including music, gardening and celebs.
- Kids Highlights rebranded into Regular Nick which based on two UK based brands responsible for my backlinks, Daily Nick (Nickelodeon/Paramount fan account), RegularCapital (Cartoon Network/Warner Bros. Discovery fan account).
- Streaming Highlights rebranded into YouTube Premium basically the plus side of YouTube which includes Disney+, Netflix and more streamers but YouTube (to some extent).
- Games rebranded into Insidus Games based on the gaming website which distributes selected content basically we'll only be distributing files into that site while reporting news here.
- Sports rebranded to Superhero which is based on another site responsible for backlinks, Anime Superhero.

I can't promise anyone that these tags won't be altered as much as I can't promise anyone that more might join the list.

Earlier in the year, we added a Random, Recent, Trending and Related Posts widget of which one was retained while Trending Posts widget will be treated as a weekly segment.

We also added two adverts on the site the first (top) seeing as a lot of traffic is available there will be used for movies, series, telenovelas and cartoons. The bottom part is more niche so we'll use it for other stuff such as books, games and other general stuff.

You may have noticed some bugs on the site that we've managed to "adjust" following the inclusion of Turkish Couple Edits and Odd1sOut so you won't be bothered with them all the time or at least when you are on tags similar to these two.

Lastly, feel free to post your suggestions or if you're looking to promote your content (e.g. YouTube channel or book, as seen below). You can find a contact sheet below.
