Boomerang is a children's space that is home to timeless classics like Tom And Jerry, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo. The U.S. counterpart reserves the brand for Cartoon Network repeats while international adaptations use it for family viewing.
WarnerMedia boss in the Kids & Family department mentioned in an interview that they'll be adding content for preschoolers, family and girls on Cartoon Network and HBO Max.
He also mentioned that they'll be duplicating this format in other countries. Unlike Disney, they won't be closing down any channels due to streaming but that doesn't mean they won't replace them either.
If you look at all these programming, none of them are going to Boomerang only because the branding was never uttered in these slate and two programs launching on Cartoonito which are Lucas The Spider and Mush Mush And The Umushables are also launching on Boomerang internationally.
Cartoonito already has a channel running in the UK and had a short-lived block in other countries so we could see them relaunch and adapt to the U.S. counterpart not only that but see the brand replace several Boomerang channels across the world.
Boomerang already has a long list of preschool shows like Mighty Mike, Kingdom Force, Yabba Dabba Dinosaur, Agent Binky, Mush Mush And The Umushables, My Little Pony: Pony Life, The Happos Family, Pat The Dog, Masha And The Bear, Mr. Magoo and Grizzly And The Lemmings. Family oriented shows like Zig & Sharko, The Tom And Jerry Show and Moka's Fabulous Adventure will likely go to Cartoon Network.
From the longest I watched Cartoon Network and Boomerang both have their own thing going on without clashing and adding Cartoonito on the bigger brand (CN) wouldn't make sense (internationally) if they already have Boomerang for that. Why not add it on Boomerang that's simple the brand uses the same graphics as Cartoon Network not only that some programs are CN originals.
If Boomerang gets booted, it's not a complete loss globally as Cartoon Network is more accessible meaning more viewers. Fans of Boomerang will easily adjust to Cartoonito (as proven earlier) but from what I remember you need to pay more for Boomerang so Cartoon Network might have a block for those who can't afford the channel and for those who can will likely get it as a standalone (repeats) channel.
