Beginning April 1, 2026, Netflix Will Start Streaming WWE Across Germany, Switzerland, Austria And Africa

Netflix had begun sending notice to various consumers in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Africa informing them about the inclusion on WWE and it goes as follows:

Beginning April 1, 2026, Netflix will be the new exclusive home of WWE in your region.

Netflix brings WWE's electrifying content all to one place, including weekly shows, RAW, SmackDown and NXT, PLUS Premium Live Events (PLEs) such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam.

Many of WWE's top moments, along with historic PLEs and select programming, are available on Netflix, including WrestleMania 42, which emanate live from Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19. Don't miss the "Best in the World" CM Punk as he goes head-to-head against "The OTC" Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.

If you're a Netflix subscriber, you're all set. If you are not a Netflix subscriber, you will need to subscribe so you don't miss a moment. We can't wait for you to experience WWE on Netflix.

For sometime, BILD and ProSieben MAXX served as the right holders for these events in Germany, Switzerland and Austria with SuperSport in Africa. This announcement means that these events will no longer be accessible on those outlets.

However, we're still awaiting further comment from SuperSport about WWE's early induction onto Netflix. As the current deal, MultiChoice has with WWE was only set to expire in 2027.

After Canal+ acquired MultiChoice in 2025, Canal Afrique consumers gained access to SuperSport's expanded sports offering. This included Raw, SmackDown, NXT and premium events like Royal Rumble on the 24 hour WWE channel.

It could be that SuperSport (for now) still holds linear rights to the WWE as they never enforced those onto Showmax. Another could be that under Canal+, they opted to scrap the carriage deal as part of their cost cutting endeavours.

Rumour: Disney XD To Become Disney Jr. In Poland

Also Read

Since last year, Disney had begun reviving some of its linear operations in some parts of the world with the relaunch of Disney Jr. in the UK and Italy. Now it looks like Disney Junior will be widening it's reach as it's alleged to replace Disney XD in April.

As seen on the Polish website Naziemna, Disney XD's schedule has now been piled up with Disney Jr. programming like Marvel's Spidey And His Amazing Friends and Disney Jr's Ariel. While the rebrand has yet to be confirmed it wouldn't come as a shocker.

Disney XD's carriage has declined rapidly across the world as Disney was looking to consolidate most of its efforts under Disney+. This led not only to several Disney XD feeds from closing but that of Disney Channel and Disney Jr. as well.

Disney XD has been an afterthought for the company and moving aimlessly with very little content investment. This led the company to launch Disney Jr. in place of the brand as they continue to expand the slate of preschool content.

Disney XD's demise in Poland is inevitable at this point and it's closure would bring the end to the brand's international footprint. As this was the last remaining international market to offer Disney XD while others closed or folded under Disney Jr.

Unlike most feeds, Disney XD served as a joint venture between Disney and AMC Networks International and could continue operating under that structure with Disney Jr. As shows like Big City Greens and Gravity Falls move to Disney Channel.

Cartoon Network And Nickelodeon Under The Same Roof??? A Story For The Dark Ages

For decades, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon have been battling it out alongside Disney Channel to be the top kids brand. Now that's all about to end as Paramount emerged victorious in it's bidding war with Netflix with Warner Bros. Discovery.

Cartoon Network is home to Adventure Time, Ed Edd'n Eddy and The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy which were rejects from Nickelodeon. Now that's likely to be merged with Dora The Explorer, SpongeBob Squarepants and Rugrats.

Let's not forget, Cartoon Network's failed attempt rivalling with iCarly and Henry Danger with shows like Incredible Crew and Level Up. This merger now gives both brands the leverage over Disney Channel.

Nickelodeon's animation slate hasn't been stable in recent years with it's only successor in the 2010s being The Loud House. During this time, Cartoon Network had Regular Show, Adventure Time, Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe and Teen Titans GO!.

With this merger still underway there's growing fear that Nickelodeon will no longer produce animation content moving forward. This is because Paramount let a majority of the brand's staff out of a job and there hasn't any word on new content.

Warner Bros. Discovery is no different on this matter but then again they are in a better position. Even though the latter is mainly existing IPs such as Tiny Toons Looniversity, Adventure Time: Side Quests, We Baby Bears and Batman: Caped Crusader.

Some people probably may not realise this but Nickelodeon was once formed part of a joint venture between Warner Communications and American Express alongside MTV. Due to financial constraints, it was sold to Viacom and formed MTV Networks.

In technicality, what we're witnessing here is basically a re-merger of some kind and Paramount is no stranger to that bit at all as it came out of a merger between Viacom and CBS.

Then again a lot is on the line, what does this deal mean for Nickelodeon on an animation standpoint? What becomes of Nicktoons, Nick Jr. and Cartoonito? Can Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network really function under one company?

If I'm being honest, the difference between the two is live-action as both are dominant in their respective fields so it's a safe bet that Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network will be retained. This is where most of the viewers and advertising revenue reside.

With Boomerang, Boing and Nicktoons basically being used for reruns that's likely to go away soon. The same outcome could await Cartoonito as Paramount doesn't have much animation in the pipeline compared to Warner Bros. Discovery.

Nick Jr. being the most recognisable brand compared to Cartoonito could serve as the new home to shows like Batwheels, Baby Looney Tunes, Hey BMO and Foster's Funtime For Imaginary Friend.

Netflix Backs Out Of Warner Bros. Bidding, Paramount Set to Win

In a stunning twist, Netflix is declining to raise its bid for Warner Bros., positioning David Ellison’s Paramount as the winner in the battle for the fabled studio.

Netflix co-CEOs Ged Sarandos and Greg Peters released a statement Thursday outlining their decision, namely that the the deal is “no longer financially attractive” and that it “was always a ‘nice to have’ at the right price, not a ‘must have’ at any price.”

“The transaction we negotiated would have created shareholder value with a clear path to regulatory approval. However, we’ve always been disciplined, and at the price required to match Paramount Skydance’s latest offer, the deal is no longer financially attractive, so we are declining to match the Paramount Skydance bid,” the co-CEOs said.

“Warner Bros. is a world-class organization, and we want to thank David Zaslav, Gunnar Wiedenfels, Bruce Campbell, Brad Singer and the WBD Board for running a fair and rigorous process,” they added. “We believe we would have been strong stewards of Warner Bros.’ iconic brands, and that our deal would have strengthened the entertainment industry and preserved and created more production jobs in the U.S. But this transaction was always a ‘nice to have’ at the right price, not a ‘must have’ at any price.

With Netflix out, Paramount’s latest bid is almost a sure thing to be accepted by the Warners board, which determined earlier Thursday that it was a “superior proposal” to Netflix’s deal.

PSKY’s latest proposal was for $31 per share, but had a number of other sweeteners, including a ticking fee payable to shareholders equal to $0.25 per quarter beginning after Sept. 30, 2026, as well as a $7 billion regulatory termination in the event the transaction does not close due to regulatory matters.

Paramount has also agreed to pay the $2.8 billion termination fee that Warner Bros. would be required to pay to Netflix to terminate the existing merger agreement.

If all goes as expected, Netflix will be on the receiving end of that $2.8 billion sooner rather than later. Netflix shares soared by more than 10% in after-hours trading after the decision was announced.

Sarandos and Peters say they will continue to pour cash into content:

“Netflix’s business is healthy, strong and growing organically, powered by our slate and best-in-class streaming service. This year, we’ll invest approximately $20 billion in quality films and series and will expand our entertaining offering. Consistent with our capital allocation policy, we’ll also resume our share repurchase program,” they said. “We will continue to do what we’ve done for more than 20 years as a public company: delight our members, profitably grow our business, and drive long-term shareholder value.”

Openview has surpassed 3.8 million decoder activations across South Africa. The figure marks more than a decade of steady growth for the free-to-view satellite platform and underscores the resilience of broadcast television as a primary entertainment medium in the country.

In a local entertainment industry that continues to evolve, with streaming services, digital platforms and on-demand content reshaping how audiences engage, broadcast television remains a significant and resilient force. Openview’s growth reflects that reality. Openview has kept pace, developing +More to extend the viewing experience to include on-demand and streaming services — without departing from what has made it a household name.

Underpinning that growth is a programming catalogue that has developed steadily over the years, with channels and content that have found a committed audience across the country. The 3.8 million activation figure reflects that ongoing relationship between platform and viewer.

A Platform for Every Viewer
Openview’s line-up reflects the full range of what South African audiences watch. Core channels, SABC 1, SABC 2, SABC 3 and e.tv, anchor the offering, alongside a genre mix that covers every member of the household: films on eMovies and eMovies Extra; drama on eExtra and eSeries; children’s entertainment on eToonz; lifestyle on The Home Channel+; and news, sport and education through France 24, SABC Sport and DBE TV.

Satellite channels and on-demand content sit side by side on one screen, navigated through the same decoder and remote control. The satellite signal remains the platform’s backbone; +More layers digital convenience on top of it, all within Openview’s free-to-view model.

Uzozisola - Regrets Possibly Cancelled On e.tv Due To Low Ratings

Also Read

Following the success of eExtra's Kuiertyd, eMedia Investments expanded its content slate to include Bollywood shows in Zulu with the launch of Uzozisola - Regrets. This served as the company's first attempt at rivalling with Zee Zonke on DStv.

This would compliment eExtra's existing Bollywood slate like Naagin and Twist Of Fate.

As for Uzozisola - Regrets, the show had already been broadcast on Openview as Complicated Love by the now defunct Glow TV. Some viewers were probably reliving the nostalgia while others got to see it for the very first time.

Synopsis for Uzozisola - Regrets

Uzozisola – Regrets delves into the emotional complexities of relationships - friendship, love, and betrayal. The story follows Kunal, a seemingly successful young man happily married to Mauli. Kunal’s life takes a tumultuous turn when he unexpectedly falls for Nandini, Mauli's former best friend, who had once found solace in their companionship during her own troubled marriage. As these intertwined relationships unfold, the characters grapple with deep-seated emotions and moral dilemmas, leading to a poignant exploration of regret and the consequences of choices made in moments of vulnerability.

Uzozisola - Regrets debuted on e.tv from 25 August 2025 and after 5 months and 128 episodes e.tv decided to pull the plug on the show. This would join other cancelled shows like Kelders Van Geheime, Scandal!, Smokes & Mirrors and House Of Zwide.

Unlike the latter that will most definitely be able to wrap up remaining storylines. Uzozisola - Regrets will not get that chance as e.tv removed the show from its lineup alongside that of eExtra with it's last broadcast labelled as "the final chapter".

Uzozisola - Regrets has two seasons with 199 in season 1 in which e.tv aired 128 with 99 episodes in season 2. It is unclear whether these remaining episodes will be seen and if they were it's likely not going to be on e.tv but eExtra.

Last month, e.tv underwent a schedule change for its primetime shows with Uzozisola - Regrets that was moved two hours later from 20:30 to 22:30. It was crammed with repeats of Gold Diggers and Ashes To Ashes where viewership is much smaller.

A New Dawn For African Superheroes: The Impact Of Batwing Unmasked On TNT Across Africa

Also Read

In an era where African superheroes are celebrated on a global stage, one of the first remains largely in the shadows. Now, a groundbreaking documentary, BATWING Unmasked: An African Super Hero, premiering on TNT Africa (DStv 137) on Friday, 6 March at 19:30 CAT, seeks to change that by asking a powerful question: “Why is Batwing scarcely known, even in Africa, and what can African creators teach us about expanding his legacy?”

Produced by Joachim Landau and directed by Thomas Letellier, the 52-minute film revisits the ambitious story of Batwing. The character, originally David Zavimbe, a former child soldier in the Democratic Republic of Congo who later became an elite police officer, was the first African superhero to operate on African soil within DC’s official continuity. The documentary explores the initial creative ambition and the tensions that came with it: how to portray a country marked by real conflict without sensationalism, and how to avoid clichés while meeting the expectations of a predominantly Western readership.

The film features insights from Batwing’s American co-creator, Judd Winick, alongside a powerful roster of African and diaspora voices who analyse the hero’s cultural significance. “Batwing stands at the crossroads of representation and imagination,” says producer Joachim Landau. “His story forces us to confront who gets to be visible in global pop culture and why. With this documentary, we wanted to give Batwing back to the continent.”

A central point of the documentary is the critical shift in the character's history. After its launch, the series struggled commercially, leading DC to ‘reboot’ Batwing with a new identity: Luke Fox, an African-American character based in the United States. BATWING Unmasked investigates this pivotal moment, asking whether it was a purely commercial decision, an admission of the challenges of sustaining an African hero, or a sign of the structural limits of diversity in major publishing.

The film platforms the African creatives who can speak to this complexity. For South African actor Siv Ngesi, Batwing’s story is profoundly personal. “Batwing is a hero who carries darkness, trauma, and hope all at once, and that’s what makes him so profoundly African,” Ngesi shares. “Representation isn’t just about visibility; it’s about healing.”

South African artist Loyiso Mkize, who offers his perspective in the film, believes Batwing was a breakthrough. “He showed that African heroes can be complex, grounded and powerful without being filtered through a Western gaze,” he explains. “His story challenges the industry to embrace African imagination as a force that can stand on its own.” The documentary also features Nigerian-American actor Chukwudi Iwuji (Peacemaker), who discusses the identity and reception issues faced by African talent in the U.S. entertainment industry.

As African creativity continues to influence global culture, BATWING Unmasked arrives at a crucial time. It positions the hero not just as a character, but as a cultural turning point. A reminder that African stories deserve to be told by African voices.

This March, TNT Africa kicks off the TNT DC Legends Stunt with the exclusive premiere of BATWING Unmasked: An African Super Hero. This special programming block will run every Friday night, allowing viewers to dive into nine iconic Batman films that bridge the gap from the classic hero of Gotham to the modern hero of Tinasha.

MultiChoice Will Be Adding Base Pulse As A Replacement To MTV Base On DStv

Also Read

Not long ago, it was reported that MultiChoice was testing out another music channel which had since been using the same frequency as MTV Base. This came after MTV Base and Paramount's 3 other channels had exited the platform earlier in the year.

MTV Base served as one of the longest running channels within Paramount's stable offering a variety of African music. It was ranked the #1 music channel in West Africa which led to the rollout of MTV Base West - a localised feed.

After it's closure, a DStv viewer had started to notice a test card for MTV Base leading fueling speculation of a revival.

Now word has spread on across social media that MultiChoice will be adding Base Pulse as a replacement to MTV Base. From what we can see this almost looks like a rebrand notice how both channels use Base and have the same presenters.

It's likely that when Paramount decided to close MTV Base and it's operations in Africa. Another brand swooped in and opted to takeover it's operations leading to the removal of the MTV name with Base taking center stage.

Base Pulse is being positioned as a next-generation hub blending music, storytelling, youth trends, and culture (with vibes like "drip" and "umswenko" as part of the lifestyle). The official tagline: "Rooted in youth. Powered by Africa’s pulse. Amplified beyond the screen."

It will not only take up MTV Base's channel number but also be available on the same package being DStv Access on channel 322.

Is MTV Base Making A Comeback To DStv?

Also Read

Last month, MTV Base and BET went dark on DStv after Paramount decided to shutter it's operations in Africa. Other channels to exit the platform include CBS Reality and CBS Justice in which the company operate alongside AMC Networks International.

These closures were part of a corporate restructure at Paramount following it's acquisition by Skydance Media who are currently in pursuit of Cartoon Network's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.

Paramount had stated that the decision to oust MTV Base and various of its music channels around the world was part of streamlining efforts. They wanted to put more emphasis on reinventing MTV even if that meant making it rival with Spotify.

Now it appears as if Paramount took a U-turn on the matter as DStv consumers have now spotted what appears to be MTV Base. Some of the signature shows are on the lineup like Bangers Only, Big Base Beats and 5@Five.

Then again this could as well be a placeholder for another TV channel but it seems very unlikely as most placeholders don't have this much content already prepped up. Besides MTV Base was the top rated music channel across West Africa.

If it is making a comeback, several questions would come to mind as MTV Base had presenters and other talent. Is this part of the revival or is this version almost like Mzansi Music or Trace Urban where songs are randomised.

"Regular Show: Lost Tapes" Is Set To Premiere In May On Cartoon Network Across Europe And Possible Africa

Also Read

We're getting closer and closer to returning to the beloved Park alongside Mordecai, Rigby, and the rest of the gang. Although there's still little concrete information about the mysterious revival of Regular Show—known in Latin America as Un show más and in Spain as Historias corrientes—we finally know that Cartoon Network is planning for its premiere to take place in May of this year.

The news came via the Hungarian outlet Mentrum, which specializes in cable television. In an article reviewing upcoming premieres on channels like Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, the site also included Cartoon Network, detailing that the new series Regular Show: Lost Tapes will arrive in May. Later, it reaffirmed the information on its Facebook page."

For now, the information corresponds to the CEE feed (Central and Eastern Europe), the signal broadcast in Hungary. However, if we take as precedent the recent international launch of the The Amazing World of Gumball revival—titled in Spanish El maravillosamente extraño mundo de Gumball—, which debuted in multiple territories on the same day, it wouldn't be surprising if we're looking at another globally coordinated premiere for the various Cartoon Network feeds, including Boing in Spain. This would also entail the global streaming launch of the series on HBO Max.

The exception could be Canada, where it was previously reported that Regular Show: Lost Tapes would premiere on Adult Swim. This is because the signals there are operated by Corus Entertainment and not directly by Warner Bros. Discovery. In fact, in that territory, the Gumball return airs on YTV instead of Cartoon Network.

It's speculated that the chosen date could be Friday, May 1st, coinciding with International Workers' Day—a not insignificant nod for a series centered around two rather particular employees—, though this has not yet been officially confirmed."

What still raises doubts is its broadcast in the United States. In recent years, Cartoon Network has significantly reduced its original production in that market, sharing time slots with Adult Swim and relying more and more on classic catalog titles and external acquisitions. In that context, the Gumball return premiered exclusively on the Hulu platform, without appearing on HBO Max or the linear channel.

Even so, it's worth noting that Regular Show has regained presence in Cartoon Network's linear programming globally, including the United States, Europe, and Latin America. In some markets, it even occupies more space in the schedule than more recent productions like Craig of the Creek, Teen Titans Go!, and We Baby Bears.

It should be clarified that, so far, the information has not been officially confirmed by Cartoon Network, HBO Max, or Warner Bros. Discovery. Therefore, these are preliminary data subject to possible changes in scheduling. As is usual in these cases, it will be necessary to wait for a formal announcement from the company to have certainties about the date and scope of the premiere.

Created by J. G. Quintel, the original series aired for eight seasons between 2010 and 2017 and had a television movie in 2015. The story follows Mordecai and Rigby, two gardeners expert at dodging responsibilities who turn the simplest tasks into monumental chaos. In the process, they drag their coworkers—Skips, Pops, Muscle Man, High Five Ghost—and their boss Benson into situations that escalate absurdly quickly: what starts as a regular shift can end in a zombie apocalypse, an interdimensional showdown, or outright the end of the world.

The franchise has also shown signs of revitalization outside of television. It recently had a collaboration with Fortnite, which incorporated playable skins of Mordecai and Skips, Rigby as a pet, and various cosmetics designed for fans. Additionally, the collectible brand Youtooz launched a series of figures of Mordecai, Rigby, and Skips inspired by iconic moments from the series. Likewise, Cartoon Network UK, the international arm of Cartoon Network, created an official Instagram account for the series.

Regular Show: Lost Tapes was announced in June 2024 during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival as a project in the early stages of development, though already greenlit. The subtitle “Lost Tapes” could allude to “lost” episodes or new stories set in the early years of the series. And there's a detail that fuels that theory: in the series finale, it's revealed that the entire show was contained on a VHS tape that Pops watches in the sky, a metanarrative device that today seems more relevant than ever. Like its predecessor, it is produced by Cartoon Network Studios.

It is not the only revival of a beloved Cartoon Network series on the way, as this year should also see the premieres of Adventure Time: Side Quests and Foster's Funtime for Imaginary Friends, inspired by Adventure Time and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Canal+ Confirms That Major Changes Are Coming Soon For Showmax, No Word On DStv Stream

Also Read

Since Canal+'s acquisition of MultiChoice in late 2025, the French broadcaster has been slashing costs aiming for R7.5 billion in 2030. Most of these cuts will be coming out of M-Net, SuperSport, Showmax and DStv.

David Mignot who served as the CEO for the merged group has admitted that it is a commercial failure. Despite MultiChoice attempts at revamping the service, trading losses for Showmax almost doubled in the last two years to R4.9 billion.

Talks were underway with Comcast in regards to the future of Showmax with the company that confirmed major changes are rolling out soon. From the looks of things, it appears as if they plan to either replace or close Showmax.

In an interview, Canal+ had stated that the company “can’t continue” operating the streaming platform as it is today. They're also exploring launching the self titled OTT service to the market but delays have occured due to Showmax.

Although the company has remained hush on what those changes for Showmax could as well be for consumers. One of which occured last month when The Gilded Age and Peacemaker exited the streamer as MultiChoice opted to scrap its HBO deal.

They had mentioned that further reductions are coming to Showmax and you can only assume this would have to do originals like Die Kantoor, Youngins and Outlaws.

It's possible that Canal+ decided to no longer produce original content for the platform and are letting these shows run its course. Let's remember, Canal+ has delayed contractual agreement for local content on M-Net's channels.

Prior to the delays, Canal+ had been widening the windows for these shows between Showmax and DStv. Post the takeover, DStv consumers had to wait several months for these shows and under Canal+ it only takes a couple of days.

Then there's the Premier League package which I can assume is also going away with further efforts being redirected to whatever comes of DStv Stream.

One thing that hasn't quite as yet been addressed by Canal+ is how DStv Stream would come into affect once it's streaming service enters the market. This yet to be launched service is just DStv Stream with additional enhancements.

For all we know, Canal+ could close DStv Stream and redirect viewers to its own streaming service and the same outcome could await Showmax.

Again maybe it's not all over for Showmax and Comcast opts to unburden MultiChoice of its duties. But the reality is this won't save "Showmax Originals" and Comcast could opt for a licensing agreement which is mainly for archived content.

This three‑part event invites African viewers into a gripping investigation that uncovers how two Indigenous women were targeted, overlooked, and ultimately connected through a trail of evidence that stunned authorities.

Over three gripping hours, LOST WOMEN OF ALASKA premieres on Sunday, 8 March at 21:00 on ID Africa (DStv channel 171).

“Expanding the LOST WOMEN franchise allows us to shine a light on cases involving underrepresented women, and LOST WOMEN OF ALASKA confronts the devastating intersection of race and systemic failures that perpetuate violence against Indigenous women. I’m honoured to continue this partnership with ID to amplify these crucial stories and create bold, meaningful work,” said Executive Producer Octavia Spencer.

As the LOST WOMEN franchise continues to provoke important conversations around society’s treatment of women, LOST WOMEN OF ALASKA offers an unsettling look into the murders of Veronica Abouchuk and Kathleen Jo Henry, killed in 2018 and 2019. They join a cacophony of Indigenous voices seemingly lost without a trace in the remote Alaskan landscape, but through the courage of some unlikely heroes, the twisted crimes of a potential serial killer come to light. Over three episodes packed with surprising turns, LOST WOMEN OF ALASKA delivers intimate and unflinching access to the disturbing impact of a predator who turns a community into a personal hunting ground. But his arrest is only the beginning of a far deeper horror.

“Octavia brings a level of care to every story she touches,” said Jason Sarlanis, President of ID. “LOST WOMEN OF ALASKA helps expose a crisis impacting Indigenous women with sensitivity and cinematic power. We’re proud to continue building prestige true‑crime storytelling together.”

As South Africa continues its fight against gender‑based violence, LOST WOMEN OF ALASKA arrives as a timely and haunting reminder of the cost of silence. With its unexpected South African connection and its commitment to restoring dignity to the victims, the series is set to spark important conversations across the continent.

e.tv Axes ‘House Of Zwide’ And ‘Kelders Van Geheime’ As Channel Refreshes Slate

Also Read

e.tv has announced that two of its flagship dramas, House of Zwide and Kelders van Geheime, will come to an end as the channel prepares to introduce new programming.

House of Zwide will air its final episode on 26 June 2026, concluding a five-season run that centred on the rise and tensions within a powerful fashion dynasty. The series became one of the channel’s most recognisable brands, building a loyal following and placing the local fashion industry at the heart of prime-time storytelling.

The show, produced by Bomb Productions, helped launch and elevate several acting careers while exploring themes of ambition, legacy and resilience against a backdrop of glamour and rivalry.

The Afrikaans telenovela Kelders van Geheime will conclude two months later, with its final episode scheduled for 28 August 2026. Produced by K Films and Videovision Entertainment, the series drew viewers into a world of family secrets, betrayal and redemption.

The drama recently earned eight nominations at the 19th SA Film and Television Awards, underscoring its critical recognition within the industry.

In a statement on Thursday, the broadcaster said both series were conceived with clear narrative arcs and that concluding them at their creative peaks reflects its commitment to quality storytelling.

“Concluding them at their creative peaks, rather than stretching beyond their intended arcs, reflects e.tv’s commitment to quality storytelling and respect for its audiences,” the channel said.

e.tv thanked the casts, crews, writers and production partners for bringing the shows to life, as well as the viewers who supported them over the years.

The broadcaster said the endings mark the close of two popular television worlds and the beginning of a new chapter in its drama slate.

The Loud House Has Not Been Cancelled Nor Is Out Of The Woods Just Yet

During the past week, Kevin Sullivan who served as the show runner on The Loud House announced he was exiting Nickelodeon with the show set to conclude. According to him, there was not much work left on the network prompting his exit.

Since then, he retracted his statement and posted a new one which states The Loud House hasn't been picked up for further seasons nor has it been cancelled. And that he remains an active staff member at Nickelodeon.

Here's the thing, it had been alleged that Nickelodeon had fired a majority of its staff and kept the ones who manage shows like SpongeBob Squarepants and The Patrick Star Show.

Even after Kevin Sullivan's statement, there's still been news of staff members being let go at the brand. It's kind of hard for some to be convinced that The Loud House isn't over as yet.

They were reports that The Loud House got an 12th and 13th season renewal which was formerly going to be the 10th season. This was going to serve as the final seasons to the show.

The only way anyone can be convinced that The Loud House isn't ending would be if it got a 14th season. Let's be honest, neither Disney Channel or Nickelodeon acknowledge cancellations.

Prior to The Loud House, there was StuGO, Hailey's On It and Middlemost Post neither brand acknowledged these shows had ended. They let other sites announce it then rebuff those claims only for it to be confirmed at a later stage.

Kevin Sullivan was probably forced to retract his statement I can only be convinced that it's not getting cancelled if it were to be renewed for a 14th season.

It's likely that The Loud House is going through similar hoops as We Baby Bears where the network is just prolonging it's demise. As for The Loud House, the alleged 12th and 13th season isn't expected until 2027/8.

eMedia Streaming Service eVOD Crosses 2.2-million Users

eMedia’s video-on-demand platform eVOD has surpassed 2.2-million registered users, the entertainment group announced.

South Africa has in recent years seen growth in the number of streaming services that have entered the market, including US players Netflix and Amazon Prime, as well as Hong Kong’s Viu, which has differentiated itself through local content. MultiChoice has also been investing heavily in the space and is home to three services — DStv, Showmax and Showmax Pro.

While video streaming is small in South Africa and the rest of Africa, the segment is growing. All the country’s big television broadcasters now offer online viewing options. EMedia has eVOD and the government-run SABC now streams its television and radio content through SABC Plus.

EVOD reached its latest milestone in the third quarter of 2025, “marking a significant milestone in its growth journey”.

EMedia established the service in October 2021 through a partnership with MTN, which offered special bundles to entice new sign-ups at the time. Since then the platform has recorded a 22% year-on-year increase in registrations, “reflecting continued audience adoption and engagement”.

EMedia, worth R1.4bn on the JSE, owns television and radio broadcasting businesses such as eNCA, OpenView and Yfm, with production studios.

The eVOD platform has more than 9,000 hours of content, with watch time increasing 56% in 2025 compared with 2024, “highlighting growing consumption across its content library”.

The company plans to launch five new original productions in 2026 to build on this momentum.

Over the past year, the platform has continued to evolve, introducing key features such as offline downloads and expanding accessibility through availability on Android and Hisense smart TVs.

Thapelo Ramatsui, brand manager for eVOD & local content at e.tv, said, “This milestone underscores eVOD’s long-standing commitment to providing authentic, relevant entertainment to South African audiences at no cost.”

“Over the past year, the platform has continued to evolve, introducing key features such as offline downloads and expanding accessibility through availability on Android and Hisense smart TVs.”

In the six months to end-September, the group reported an increase in other revenue, which includes eVOD, online and website sales, from R41.6m to R48.2m, a 16% jump year on year.

Yet, the segment is still the smallest component of group revenue, accounting for just 3.4% of the pie.

The eVOD growth comes while rivals are grappling with their own growth prospects.

MultiChoice’s new owner Canal+ is mulling the future of the unprofitable Showmax platform, which has to recover more than R3bn ploughed into it.

In October, Business Day reported SABC’s streaming platform had tripled its user base in less than a year to 1.5-million, growing well ahead of guidance, which had pegged 1-million users by 2027/28.

The state-owned company is also seeking to capitalise on its digital presence across channels such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube as part of a broader push to grow revenue from online sources.

Canal+ Afrique Adds Four New Channels To DStv English Plus Packages, Converts E! To Bravo

Following the acquisition of MultiChoice in late 2025 by Canal+, the French broadcaster has subjected the company to various cost cutting initiatives. This included the non-renewal of the Winter Olympics by SuperSport as decisions are now made in France.

As more cuts are underway, Canal+ Afrique will be giving viewers access to 4 additional DStv channels. This would comprise of Studio Universal and National Geographic alongside SuperSport Action and WWE with E! becoming Bravo.

SuperSport Action offers UFC, NBA and international football with 24 hour wrestling coverage available on WWE.

SuperSport Action and WWE addition on Canal+ Afrique increases the number of SuperSport channels on the platform from 4 to 6 channels. This comes after MultiChoice widened the reach of WWE to DStv Access customers in South Africa.

Bravo, the iconic international NBCUniversal channel dedicated to reality TV and the genre's iconic franchises launched in Africa by October 2025. It is scheduled to replace the French version seen on Canal+ Afrique by March 17.

The rebranded channel will air even more flagship shows, including: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Below Deck and its spin-offs (Mediterranean, Sailing Yacht, Australia), Southern Hospitality, Bravo’s Love Hotel, Next Gen.

Studio Universal is a specialty television channel owned by Universal Networks International (a division of NBCUniversal), focused primarily on movies and film-related programming.

It specializes in airing films—mostly from the Universal Pictures library—along with related content like interviews, behind-the-scenes insights, short films, and themed programming blocks (e.g., nights or seasons dedicated to a specific genre, director, or actor).

National Geographic offers documentaries and specials on topics like nature, wildlife, science, space, history and adventure. Famous for high-production-value content (e.g., series with David Attenborough, and Air Crash Investigation.

It forms part of a joint venture between the National Geographic Society and The Walt Disney Company.

Following the removal of BET Africa and last minute renewal deal between Warner Bros. Discovery and Canal+ that led to MultiChoice keeping their channels. The deal appears to have excluded Canal+ Afrique from packaging Discovery Channel.

This has led to the inclusion of National Geographic with Studio Universal serving as an addition on the platform.

Channel Closure: TV Mozambique Internacional Will Stop Airing On DStv And GOtv From 24 February 2026

Also Read

Last month, TLNovelas was axed from the DStv platform as part of Canal+'s cost cutting measures at MultiChoice. This had also led SuperSport to miss out on Philly's Games and Winter Olympics with local content being further reduced at M-Net.

With the month not even up yet, it appears MultiChoice will be claiming another victim on DStv and this time it's TV Mozambique Internacional.

TV Mozambique, is the international channel of Mozambique's national TV broadcaster, Televisão de Moçambique (TVM), broadcasting for 24 hours per day. It showcased local programming featuring Mozambican culture, tourism and sports.

At the time, Marta Odallah, TVM Internacional director, says "The addition of TVM Internacional on DStv is in line with our objective to spread the social, political, cultural and sporting reality of Mozambique across our borders".

"This collaboration is a giant leap for both TVM and MultiChoice, and indeed a step in the right direction of broadcasting inclusivity for all Mozambicans".

After 7 years, the channel will now be going dark on DStv from 24 February and it appears as if the closure is being swept under the rug. Unlike TLNovelas, MultiChoice hadn't notice to DStv subscribers about TV Mozambique Internacional.

This is not only the second channel to go dark during the year but like TLNovelas catered to Portuguese speaking countries. With TVM Mozambique gone, Kwenda and Maningue Magic would basically be the only other alternatives.

The problem part is that these brands are based in Angola and Mozambique while TVM Mozambique Internacional broadened it's reach to other parts of Africa.
