Rumor: Four NBCUniversal Kids Shows Coming Soon To e.tv

During the Universal Kids era aka DreamWorks Channel USA, the channel catered towards children aged 2-12 with a mix of live-action and animated series.

Two years after its launch, the channel witnessed a massive drop in viewership resulting in the halt of production on original content for the brand.

The last remaining animation for the brand were Norman Picklestripes, Powerbirds, DreamWorks' Where's Waldo, Remy And Boo and The Ollie And Moon Show.

Norman Picklestripes, follows forest animals going through comedic adventures of Plywood Forest's can-do handyman, Norm. The series airs Saturdays on eToonz.

Powerbirds, follows Max with his pet parakeets, Ace and Polly. Max counts on them to keep saving the day while he is away. The powerbirds save the city from danger and they stop the main villains: Nibbles, Clawdette, Scrapper, Minerva, and Asher Stasher from the events that Max will be going to later, so then later, Max is excited to visit the events.

DreamWorks Where's Waldo, follows young members of the WorldWide Wanderer Society, Waldo and Wenda, who are sent on travel missions by their mentor, Wizard Whitebeard. Their rival, Odlulu, causes them trouble in their attempts to earn stripes and become wizard-level wanderers.

Remy And Boo, follows Remy, an adventurous 6-year-old girl with a unique best friend named Boo, who is a large and soft pink robot. Driven by Remy's indomitable spirit and Boo's positive attitude, his days at Dolphin Bay are filled with new adventures, both big and small, powered by two incredible imaginations.

The Ollie And Moon Show, is about two six-year-old cats Ollie and Moon, along with their travel buddy Stanley the snail, who travel around the world and learn about different cultures.

NBCUniversal has numerous shows airing on e.tv and eToonz including DreamWorks' catalogue as well as other titles such as Olivia, Raa Raa The Noisy Lion, Postman Pat, Zafari and Noddy.

SABC Children: Another Dream Journal For The SABC

Creators of top children's entertainment for SABC's TV channels, SABC Children was another one of SABC's upcoming channels for DTT back in 2012 which never came to be.

In 2015, SABC partnered up with Tuluntulu launched an online version of the brand from there viewers got to see what the channel was actually about and what it would offer.

SABC Children would have been multilingual like Kenya's Akilli Kids and cater towards children aged 2-12 offering a mix of local and international content making it one of the few SABC channels to offer foreign programming.

The programming would serve to entertain viewers but as mentioned earlier it would be available in different languages other than English. The schedule featured a large amount of local productions including The Magic Cellar, Roughing It Out, Challenge SOS, My Night and several YoTV productions.

Since this channel never came to be on DTT, SABC Education is currently distributing the local side of SABC Children knowing them they won't add the full catalogue only ones that hold educational value.

SABC Children joins the large list of dreams SABC had for DTT over the decade including SABC 4 and SABC 5, SABC Movies, 5 language based channels, parliamentary, health, music, history, SMME and interactive channel.

SABC launched their sport channel on OpenView with two additional channels set to follow in the coming months.

WILDLIFE WEDNESDAYS

THE MAGIC OF THE WILD
Brand New Series premieres 05 May at 20:00 CAT
The "National Parks" series is dedicated to one jewel of the natural wonders of North America in each episode. For one year each, the filmmakers accompany the rangers and scientists who have dedicated themselves to the preservation and exploration of this unique nature in the US or Canada.
Since 1916, the American national parks -as well as most of the other sites and areas worthy of protection -have been managed by the National Park Service (NPS). The Service states "conservation, preservation and recreation" as its primary goals. Its task is more topical than ever.
The parks are threatened, especially by climate change: in Alaska, glaciers are melting, in Florida, protected species are being displaced by immigrant animals, and in California, rare rodents freeze to death because they are not sufficiently prepared for winter due to warmer temperatures.
