Right On Track! As Thomas & Friends Find A New Home On Boomerang Africa

Climb aboard for a series of all-new adventures with Thomas the Tank Engine! Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go is set to premiere on Boomerang Africa on Monday, 4 April 2022. The brand-new series, with an entirely new storytelling approach, promises to bring even more fun-filled adventures with vibrant 2D animation and compelling new characters while visiting exciting new locations and learning about teamwork and friendship!

The Island of Sodor is home to the biggest, silliest, most musical and toot-ally awesome-est adventures with your number one pal, Thomas the Tank Engine. He is joined by some familiar friends, including Percy, Diesel, Gordon, Nia, a tank engine from Kenya in Africa, and Sir Topham Hatt, along with fresh faces like Kana - the first electric train in Sodor, and the best fix-it crew, Carly the Crane and Sandy the Rail Speeder.

Four Upcoming Developments For Star Life

In the month of April, Star Life an Indian based entertainment channel offering content in English to viewers in Africa will undergo some schedule changes amidst the time other brands such as e.tv and Boomerang all have plans to revamp their lineup.

On e.tv's and Boomerang's side, these changes are drastic compared to Star Life I mean both channels had this offering beforehand now that consumers will be seeing more of that time will tell whether the endeavours will benefit them in the long run.

Star Life despite not having much adjustments has been put in the craft of this shake up I'm not one to believe in superstitions but could this changes awaiting viewers be a good thing for viewers or could there be more to the story.

From April 4th, the channel adds two more repeats to the afternoon schedule Forbidden Love and Kulfi: The Singing Star while Geet airs an hour early meaning Bollywood films are no more or at least not on weekdays.

On primetime, the lineup receives a major boost as A New Life launches on the channel joining other current shows such as Never Say Goodbye, Dream Girl, Lockdown: A Love Story and Happy Hearts.

On the upcoming slate, Anupamaa probably launching as The Homemaker is expected to air on the channel really soon alongside other series such as Unforseen Love, Bold and Beautiful and Destined Love.

MultiChoice Opens Up NBC To More DStv Customers In Africa, Here's Why

WorldSkills Namibia and their partners outlined plans to host WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022 taking place from 28 March to 2 April 2022. More than 100 Competitors from 13 African countries will compete in 16 skills. The event will also include an international conference and a careers exhibition.

WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022 is supported by WorldSkills International and the African Union. WorldSkills Namibia was granted the right to host the second edition of the WorldSkills Africa Competition, following the inaugural event staged in Kigali, Rwanda, in 2018.

Namibia’s Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation called upon the business sector to support WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022, noting the event aligns with Namibia’s national long-term strategic endeavour to leverage the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, and by extension, support economic prosperity for future generations.

“In an increasingly competitive global environment, Namibia recognizes TVET as a crucial vehicle for social equity, inclusion, and sustainable development. We acknowledge TVET’s potential to contribute to lower unemployment and poverty alleviation and we value TVET’s role in enhancing the levels of self-confidence of individuals in becoming productive citizens,” the Minister explained.

The African Union’s Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology, H.E. Professor Sarah Anyang Agbor, said the continental conglomeration was looking forward to a multi-faceted event showcasing the skills of Africa’s young talents across a wider range of technical and vocational trade areas.

“In launching the countdown to WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022, we recognize that Africa is gaining further traction in advancing the shared social objective of increasing the provision and development of skills. The solid progress with preparations excites and encourages all of us at the African Union,” said Professor Agbor.

Professor Agbor highlighted the international conference and careers exhibition, which are to take place on the sidelines of the competition, as platforms for African countries to discuss how better to invest in the technical and vocational training sector, and for breaking down the negative societal stereotyping of such career options.

“The continent is looking forward to when Swakopmund will be the skills capital of Africa. Join us as we build skills for Africa,” Professor Agbor noted.

In her message at the official launch, European Union Ambassador to Namibia, H.E. Sinikka Antilla said, “I believe that our support for Namibia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training sector is contributing to the establishment of inclusive growth and job creation policies, as emphasized in various national strategies of the Namibian Government, including the Harambee Prosperity Plan 2, the National Development Plan 5 and Vision 2030.”

Ambassador Antilla stressed that the ongoing support of the European Union and her member states, in particular, that of the Federal Republic of Germany, are aimed at positioning Namibia’s technical and vocational training sector stood to better support the youth in responding to expectations of the labour market and the digital economy.

“TVET helps youth to respond to new challenges by providing skills needed in the knowledge economy, the blue economy, the circular economy, the green deal, the digital economy, you name it. TVET is also about being able to create own jobs and businesses. WorldSkills Africa Swakpmund 2022 represents an excellent opportunity to promote these values and technical expertise to the younger generation”, she stressed.

WorldSkills Africa is a critical component of WorldSkills Vision 2025, aimed at expanding skills development in Africa.

The Story Of The Ugliest Woman In The World To Gave Up Her Dignity To Feed Her Children

A Difficult Fate

A loving mother would do anything for her children, and Mary Ann Webster (Bevan after marriage) isn’t an exception to this rule: she wasn’t afraid to become an object of ridicule or show her unusual appearance. She had a goal — to feed her children by doing whatever it took. Mary had to overcome cruelty, mocking, and insults from people who wanted to see “the ugliest woman in the world.”

Mary’s life was pretty ordinary. She was born in London to a large and rather poor family. She had to start working very early and was a nurse in a hospital. Mary was a very attractive lady who dreamed about having a big family herself. Her dream came true: at the age of 29, she got married to Thomas Bevan and gave birth to 4 children.

Later, Mary started experiencing health problems: she suffered from migraines and muscle and joint pain. Doctors couldn’t understand what was going on. But she barely had time to focus on her health since her family needed her.

The Disease Reveals Itself

Mary started suffering from another symptom: abnormal facial growth and distortion, which led to her “homely” appearance. The young Mrs. Bevan turned into a creature who only slightly resembled a woman.

This disease is called acromegaly, a neuroendocrine disorder that results in an excess amount of growth hormones in the body, which leads to bone, internal organ, and soft tissue enlargement. The disease is often accompanied by headaches and muscle pain. In most cases, acromegaly occurs due to a benign tumor, known as a pituitary adenoma.

Today, doctors can cure this disease successfully, but at the beginning of the 20th century, Mary was in a desperate situation. Each day, she saw her beauty fade away.

An Unpleasant Title And A Check
Mr. Bevan always supported his wife and stood by her side, but his destiny had its own plans. After 11 years of marriage, he died, and Mary became a widow with children and almost no money.

After her husband’s death, Mary accepted any job she could get to try to feed and care for her children. However, she wasn’t offered a good job because of her appearance and people in the streets used to insult her and make fun of her. So, each work day was a challenge.

Things were getting worse and worse until Mary found out that there was something called The World’s Ugliest Woman contest. So she decided to take part in it since the prize was a really big sum of money. She managed to win the contest, but the mass media started writing unpleasant articles about her, and it was really hard for her to read them.

But Mary turned her situation into a stable income. By the way, this contest is still popular in England, but they put the emphasis on frowning now.

Circus And Freak Show Performances

In 1920, she was invited to work in the US and appear in Coney Island’s Dreamland show. She took part in these performances where she had to demonstrate her appearance by wearing certain clothing items that highlighted her unattractiveness and masculinity.

There were other people with unusual features in these shows too: a bearded woman, dwarfs, giants, and Siamese twins — they all were freaks who had to make people laugh or feel like they had seen something unusual.

The audience really liked these cruel shows and Mary was one of the most popular actresses in her group. We only can assume how difficult it was for her to be an object of ridicule. But she overcame all of her challenges for the sake of her children.

She spent most of the remainder of her life in a circus. She had a chance to return to Europe only once, in 1925, when she visited Paris where she took part in an exhibition.

Unfortunately, most people who suffer from acromegaly don’t live very long. Mary died in 1933, at the age of 59. Before she died, she asked her children to bury her in England. This difficult destiny of a loving mother proves that anyone who’s brave enough can nail it.

Of course, we may say she that didn’t have a choice and that it was her only chance, but she wasn’t afraid to use this chance and she turned her disease into a source of income. We don’t know what would happen if she wasn’t sick. We probably wouldn’t know anything about her.
